Once upon a time, while dating my future wife, I took her to a place that we did not know would change her life. A trip to the Maryland Renaissance Festival. That trip introduced her to the world of medieval fashion. This then spawned a love of fashion from different times. She learned to sew, she learned history, and most importantly, she became an aficionado of fashion. You can see the garments she has made, events she has been to, and so much more on her Instagram. LoveShutterbug on Instagram

She even has a monthly Patreon tier where she hand writes letters to her patrons, pulls out her wax sealing kit, and sends these letters where she makes current life sound like a romantic Georgian-era letter.

After many years, a couple of children, a thriving photography career, and many amazing outfits later, she started becoming friends with other talented historical costumers, and from there has taught a class for the Silk Routes Symposium on how to dress a Regency lady, she was both a model and the photographer for Redthreaded Corsets, photographed her friends as models and jewelry for Dames a la Mode, being selected as Diamond of the Evening at the Bridgerton Experience Ball. and even meeting the author of the Bridgerton series Julia Quinn, and having Julia request to take a photo with Marisa.

With Covid and chronic illness having taken away many of her photography opportunities, she turned to her favorite hobby, sewing, and quickly became obsessed. Not just with the fashions, but the lifestyles and history of the periods she obsessed over. She then started researching art fellowships and residencies and was accepted. She was offered a spot in the artists' residency program at the Chateau D'Orquevaux for January 15th-28th 2025. (or 1/31-2/13)

As a dutiful husband, I do everything in my power to take care of and love my wife in the way that she deserves. If a mere snap of my fingers could send her to France for this residency, I would. However, after multiple major house issues back to back, each one being way worse than the last, I am unable to do so. My wife is truly a wonderful person, and I want to see her happy grow in doing what she loves. This is why I created this page for her, in hopes that we can raise the funds, and send her on this amazing opportunity. For as much as she deals with imposter syndrome, and believes that she is not good enough amongst others, the universe, myself, and so many other people think otherwise. This is a once-in-a-chance lifetime for her.

We all know that once Marisa finds a style of historical fashion she loves, she deep dives and WILL make those dresses. We've all seen how determined she is, even when she starts an entirely new ensemble 24 hours before an event. Oh, and of course, constantly sewing in the car.

Being that she sat on this information for a few days, means that this is now in a time crunch. So here is how the funds would be used.

:

1- The first goal is to get the deposit amount of $1,400.44 no later than 2/19 (they informed her that they can extend it though) This guarantees her spot in the. residency. This amount is fully refundable if the goal for the second payment of $1252.01 which is due by 3/5 is not met, and not paid. So if the first goal is not hit, then you will be refunded your donation.

2- From there, if we can hit the 2nd goal of $1252.01 by 3/5 and $1254.86 by 6/5. If we are unable to reach the goal for the 2-week residency in January, there are still other dates that she can attend. So let's raise this money!

I realize that this is cutting it extremely close, but if you know Marisa, you know just how wonderful and talented she is. This residency will unlock so many doors for her!

So please donate and share. We appreciate it so much!

^Here she is dressed as Lady Danbury and photographed with the author of the Bridgerton series and Queen Charlotte. When Marisa went up to get her copy signed, Julia Quinn requested to take a picture with my wife. She gushed about t for weeks, still does actually...

Let's get Marisa to France for art!!!

Six months ago I made a gofundme with the help of my friends because my dad suddenly passed away. Now, for related and unrelated health reasons, I need to take a month of unpaid FMLA.

The picture I posted I took on the travel down to help lay my dad to rest. So many people donated to that gofundme, more than I ever imagined, and I was able to cover my expenses for a ten hour drive, as well as bills at for the next few weeks. I am so so very grateful for everyone who helped. But I am still struggling.

I have two autoimmune disorders and now I’m suffering from long Covid. I have severe difficulty breathing, I’m exhausted all the time, my muscles are in severe pain, and my skin feels like glass. These are just a few of the many and varied symptoms that plague me. Not to mention the deep, indescribable grief I feel still from losing my father. It’s gotten to the point where I have to take a month of FMLA.

Because I have still only been at my job six months, I am only allowed to take unpaid leave. My family is helping me with the out of pocket health premiums, but that still leaves rent, food, utilities, and all other numerous expenses.

I have some money saved, largely due to all of your help, but every bit counts. Please consider donating. Thank you

Help me cover two months of unpaid FMLA

On August 31st, a peaceful protest in Washington, DC, was violently razed by the police. A group of no more than 100 demonstrators were met with rubber bullets, tear gas, and a crowd control tactic that remains in a gray area of the law, called kettling.

Kettling not only criminalizes the first amendment, but jeopardizes the financial stability of citizens guilty of nothing other than practicing their constitutionally guaranteed rights. This practice almost always ends in the arrests of parties unrelated to the alleged crimes committed.

Aye, a queer, non-binary activist was arrested along with 13 other demonstrators and held overnight on a controversial "felony riot" charge. Everyone was "no papered", or released without charges the next day.

On September 9th, the US Marshals showed up to Aye's apartment in Baltimore to serve an arrest warrant for "inciting a riot" & "assault on an officer". The Marshals remained on the premises until a search warrant was approved and proceeded to tear apart the apartment Aye shares with their partner and roommate. They even helped themselves to $50 in laundry quarters.

On September 10th at 4:00am, Aye turned themselves in and the charges have since been dropped.

Then again on September 26th, law enforcement showed up with arrest warrants, this time for all three tenants. A case is being built on outlandish accusations against Aye and the people they live with, for being violent drug dealers with middle school clientele.

The infamous Baltimore Police Department is no stranger to corruption.

Aye is two weeks away from a court hearing that, if penalized to the full extent of the 13 charges they’re facing, could put them away for more than 170 years-- without a lawyer.

Oh, and their landlord has terminated their lease.

Please, find it somewhere in your heart to donate and share Aye's story. All funds will be allocated to housing, legal fees & possibly commissary.

This is what it looks like to protect Black lives.

If you'd like to see footage of interviews with Aye and other protestors, they can be found here, courtesy of Chuck Modi.

**For purposes of transparency, my name is Alexia Clinton, I am a local Black activist serving as a third party, given Aye loses the ability to manage their own funds**

His co-workers did everything right. The EMTs and staff at the hospital did everything they could, but it was his time to be called forward.

Family and friends have been notified as best I/we were able, but he was so very loved and I am truly sorry for anyone hearing this heavy news for the first time from me.

Hold your people when you can. Tell your friends you love them with reckless abandon.

And, in Chris's honor, never pass on an opportunity for a shitty pun.

-A Note from Samm

From the support team helping Samm out:

Chris was taken from us much too soon, leaving Samm and two beautiful children.

A little about the team, Sinn, Tricia and Hilary have known Samm and Chris for years from various activities including Pennsic, Burns and just being a wonderful human being. While Hilary lives far away in Mass, Sinn and Tricia are right there with Samm right now. Putting this fundraiser together is our way of taking some of the burden off of Samm's shoulders so she can just grieve. All the funds will go straight to Samm and the two little ones. Once she has set up an account for the funds she will be designated as the beneficiary of all the funds.

The funds will be used for a wide variety of things including but not limited to:

*Funeral costs

*Living expenses like Food, Utilities, Rent

*Education for the Children

Thank-you for all your help and support, ever little bit takes some of the stress of losing a wonderful Father and Partner as well as main income earner for the family. The world is a little darker without Chris in it.

All Hail the Traveler!

Sincerely

Hilary

Our names are Genesa & Brian Boosz and the Lloyd's are our family's best friends, (Amanda, Steven & Maddux.) They are also incredibly talented and well respected Wedding Photographers in the Greater Seattle area.

Today, while at their 32 week OB/GYN appointment, they learned that their son, Cooper Ray, had passed away sometime in the past 24 hours. Baby Cooper was expected to be making his arrival in April.

We've created this account to raise money to help with all the immediate costs that Amanda & Steven are going to endure in the next coming weeks. All their resources were put towards a new home they just purchased and are supposed to be moving into in less than 2 weeks time. Needless to say, funeral expenses were the last thing they had planned to save money for.

The Lloyd's are truly the most kind and loving family. So full of life and passion. They go out of their way to help others all the time and we know they would never ask for help in return. That is why we've created this for them to help ease some of the stress that the future holds for them.

Sweet Baby Cooper. You are loved by more people than you'll ever know. We love you Lloyd Family!!

Noraye age 2 and her parents Eliscia Jordan and Aaron Gardiner were on their way home from a family outing when they were involved in a fatal car accident, they were hit by a drunk driver going 91 mph in a 25 mph zone which ended with both of her parents losing their lives instantly and leaving Noraye with a concussion, a broken leg and scared. When the drunk driver hit them he was still going 81mph. Since then her grandmother has done a very great job trying to cope with the loss of Eliscia, her only child while raising and teaching her only granddaughter to adapt to life after the death of both her parents. Those who have kept us with know Noraye is now 3 years old. She is the spitting image of her mother and thanks to her grandmother homeschooling her for more than a year, Noraye is smarter than most 5 year olds. Now it is time for Noraye to start school so she cannot only learn even more new things, she also needs to get the chance to learn how to socialize and meet new children her age. The healing has begun both physically and mentally but Noray and our family still have a long way to go.We asking for donations towards Noraye's future to help with school, day to day cost of raising her and just securing her future. any amount helps. Thank you in advance for all your well wishes, continued prayers and donations our family appreciates especially Noraye.

Noraye's School Fund

Many of you who have known me over the years, have asked if I was in business as an artist / designer. And until now I have demurred, but this winter a friend offered me an opportunity I could not pass up, to design a Steampunk themed collection of clothes for a fashion show this spring. So I am taking the plunge and opening the doors and hanging a shingle for Ruff Attire, a historically influenced & aching house that will sell a stock set of designs which also taking custom orders for both men’s and women’s clothing and hats. But to accomplish this task I need your help. I have worked on a single sewing machine and used a 1969 size 10 dress maker's form for several decades now, and it's time to upgrade and acquire a few tailors forms and new millinery supplies and stock fabrics to work with, as well as create a website and order forms and templates. With your help we'll get these aspects rolling as quickly possible!

I will eventually be putting out a series of sketches for sale of the pieces for the collection, however as thank you gifts for those who contribute I am going to offer the following:

$25 donation = (1) 8x10 signed and numbered print with thank you note.

$50 - donation = (1) 11x14 signed and numbered print with thank you note.

$100 - donation = (3)* 11x14 signed and numbered prints of your choosing, with fabric swatches of the final fashion fabrics.

$500 - donation = (9)* 11x14 signed and numbered prints of your choosing, with fabric swatches of the final fashion fabrics.

(*there will be a total of 15 sketches for the $100 & $500 donors to choose from.)

$1000 - donation = a custom designed hat. Steampunk or Bust

Click Here for Story on NJ.com

A Fight to Survive TBI: The Story of David On the Road to Recover from Traumatic Brain Injury. August 24, 2012 drastically changed my life. What happened that evening has left David in a vegetative coma and my desperation to save my son's life and future. David was pistol whipped, his jaw broken and his unconscious body robbed. Though David regained consciousness, he was incoherent and rushed by ambulance to UMDNJ trauma center in Newark, New Jersey. It was there that he underwent emergency craniotomy surgery to alleviate the pressure from his swelling brain. He is currently living in a sub-acute unit at a nursing home being fed via a gastric feeding tube. He is no longer entitled to physical therapy because he has shown no signs of progress. This means each day he lies in bed approximately 19 hours and sits in a wheelchair for 5 hours with no physical stimulation aside from being dressed. The importance behind physical therapy is that it will help him maintain his muscles and joints; to achieve his goal to attain flexibility, balance and coordination free from pain or suffering, so that he may lead a normal life again; performing all of his daily activities with minimal or no difficulty and without dependency. With prolonged treatment, it is possible for him to regain a large share, if not all of his mobility and it will improve his overall fitness and health. David's survival depends on continued physical and mental stimulation therapies which most insurances are not willing to fund long term. The lack of such treatment poses a direct threat to David's ability to return to a life that extend beyond sitting in front of a television for hours on end in a nursing home. He deserves better. His recovery is destined to be a long and arduous one, with no guarantees. But in order for him to have that chance, he needs, aside from a miracle, funds for aggressive physical therapy, a private neurologist and a specially designed vehicle for me to accommodate his wheel chair. Please join my family in our fight to get David the extensive physical and medical treatment he needs. The amount we are now trying to raise is just the beginning for David and we could use your support. Thank you!

More information can be found on The Prayer of David.
