Marcelo was a truly special person—a happy and supportive pilot who lit up the crew room every time he walked in. His positive energy was contagious, and he had a remarkable ability to make everyone around him feel happier. <div>We are reaching out today with a heavy heart to share the story of Leela, a dedicated 67 year old nurse who was violently attacked during her shift. As many of you know, nurses and healthcare workers put their lives on the line every day to care for others, and tragically, Leela became the victim of an unprovoked attack.

<div>On Tuesday February 18th 2025, while performing her usual duties with compassion and professionalism, Leela was viciously attacked by a patient who escalated the situation. This assault has resulted in significant life altering head trauma including several facial bone fractures, brain bleeds, and severe eye injuries, requiring ICU level care with plan for multiple facial reconstructive surgeries.

<div>The emotional and financial toll of this attack is overwhelming. Not only is Leela grappling with physical recovery, but she will also face mounting medical bills, lost wages, and the emotional impact of the traumatic event. <div>It is with a heavy heart that I reach out to share some deeply upsetting news about my beloved cat, Todd. On January 18, he greeted me with his usual warmth and affection, but I noticed a lesion on his belly that raised immediate concern. As any loving pet owner would, I took him to the veterinarian the very next day, where we received the distressing news that he was suffering from low platelet counts—a condition that can be critical and even life-threatening if not treated promptly.

<div>As we anxiously awaited the results of further tests, I began to notice Todd behaving unusually; he seemed disoriented and was losing his balance. My worry escalated, prompting another visit to the vet, where we learned that he was also experiencing neurological issues that required specialized treatment.

<div>After a week of this nightmare, Todd has been stabilized by blood transfusions to help his body recover, as we await for his body to react to the current medication (steroids to suppress the immune system) in order to help his body produce the platelets it needs. Per transfusion and care is about $1500. I’ve been trying my best to keep him stable and at home, but the situation is rough.
