<div>Hello, I am 17, and I am trying to raise money to adopt a shelter dog. You may be confused with the goal price I have set but I will explain. The price is set at $20,000 because that is how much it costs to own a dog throughout their entire lifetime according to a piece my mum read published by the RSPCA. I live with my mum, dad, two younger brothers, and two cavoodles. I love my dogs so very much which is why I want to adopt a shelter dog, because I know my family and I can provide and loving, safe, and patient home that are prepared to accommodate any needs. My mum works from home so the new dog would always have someone there for them, and on the rare occasion the house is empty, we have our two dogs to keep them company. We have a big backyard, lots of dog toys, 3 dog beds (I already bought a third as a way to persuade), and dog food. We got out two cavoodles before I was old enough to comprehend the infamous saying; <em>adopt, don’t shop. </em>I love my dogs and wouldn’t trade them for the world, but I feel extremely guilty knowing that they were bought. I have been pestering my mum and dad since the middle of last year to adopt a dog from a shelter, but it always resulted in talking about the price of owning another dog. The only thing standing in my way is the price. I asked my parents the hypothetical question; <em>if we were to magically get $20,000 would we be able to get a dog? </em>And they responded with; <em>of course. </em>The only way I thought money would magically fall into our lap was through the lottery, and unsurprisingly it has failed as it has relentlessly throughout the many years my mum has been buying tickets. My birthday was a couple days ago and I was extremely hopeful to the idea of getting a dog, I clearly didn’t. This GoFundMe is a last resort and I have never done anything like this or heard about success from anyone I know.
