<div>Stump removal for the Skyline Median, Phase 3 - SOUTH END

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Over the past two years, neighbors and users of the Skyline Median trail have donated funds for the beautification of the median by removing the eyesore of the old stumps.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Hopefully you have seen the 160 new trees that were planted in the winter of 2024. In the sections that were planted, we used the donations to hire a tree service remove the stumps. Now we would like to continue the effort moving South of the Firehouse.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>The City of Oakland has a plan to remove the Monterey Pines (as they fall) and replace them with fire-resistant natives that comply with Oakland's guidelines for replacement. City funding will not permit stump removal.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Because some sections of Skyline had started to look like tree stump graveyards, we wanted to work on cleaning up these stumps. Phase One and Two were completed in 2024 and 2025. With the success of the initial fundraising campaigns, we would like to move on to the next phase of removing or cutting back as many more stumps as possible. Where possible, the aim is to take the stumps to just above the surface of the ground, not grinding the roots. In some locations with a steeper slope, the stumps will be cut as close to the ground as possible.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>My name is Bob Houser, a neighbor living in the Oakland hills. At the request of the Hillcrest Estates Homeowner's Association, I'm raising funds to get Phase Three of this effort started.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Please help us by donating today.

Skyline Median Stump Removal - Phase 3 - COMPLETED

Ah! Hi hello, fancy seeing you here. I can’t wait to get you up to speed on my/our current conundrum and tell you how you could play a part in making me (Jess) the happiest girl in all the land. Let’s start with the sob story and then get into the real nitty-gritty goals of this mission shall we?<br /><br />About a year ago, I left a relationship that had taken a toll on me emotionally, mentally, and financially. As cliches go, it was a journey filled with ups and downs, but as a result of THE series of unfortunate events, I ended up losing my car and access to a personal vehicle. My credit, which also took a hit during my previous relationship, has made it impossible for me to finance a new vehicle. *BIG sigh* <br />
<br />
 Over the past few months, I’ve worked hard to right so many of the things that went awry. I’ve rebuilt my confidence, found stability, and started to dream again about the life I deserve. The only thing missing is a reliable set of wheels—a car that would give me the freedom to get around to my many ✨fab✨ house-crushes (aka work), run my whimsical/nonsensical fairy errands, and, most importantly, party with my many new-found friends.
<br />
<br />
 By helping me get a reliable, potentially even adorable?!? set of wheels, you’re not just investing in my freedom—you’re unlocking a wilder, more fun Jess for all your future Adventure Buddy needs. I just KNOW you’ll be thrilled by this realization and opportunity! <br /><br />Thank you for considering helping me take this final step toward realizing truly unbridled joy, wonder, and magic.

Mission: Make Jess Mobile

<div>Our Dearest Oakland,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I have a little secret.... Ilana Lipsett has a crush on you! She's actually been into you for a while! Ok, so its been like 15 years! of working in you, using arts and culture to more tightly weave your community together in the name of building a brighter future. Ya, she's rad like that.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ok, so, it's more than a crush. Facts are, she is in love with you and she wants you to know it. There, I said it. Cat's out the bag! She calls me all the time, telling me she stayed up all night thinking about you, about how deeply she cares about you, about how heartbroken she is by the recent budget cuts that have effectively eliminated public support for arts and culture.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>And that is why, she is spending her birthday hosting Civic Love—a <strong>free, all-ages block party</strong> on Saturday, July 12, that celebrates you, Oakland’s cultural spirit!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>She wants to write you a love letter of her own, <strong>Civic Love is that love letter, its all about neighbors showing up for each other—creating space, sharing music and art, and imagining what’s possible together. </strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It's a love letter block party, but it's more than a celebration. <strong>It’s a response</strong>. And it’s part of a much bigger initiative to build our civic resilience.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>She wants us all to show the impact of resident-led activations, she wants these love letters to sprout up everywhere, like a superbloom of community resilience. (Her favorite flower is a Dahlia, in case you were curious).

CivicLove! Free all ages BLOCK PARTY! love letter to Oakland

<div>My name is Adrian Bishop. My brother Stefan, his wife Abby and their son Truet lost their home as did many others, in the fire storm of the Eaton fire. They will need lots of help with. They are just beginning to deal with the mounting non-covered expenses coming their way. Please give what you can.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>A letter from Stefan and Abby:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our home and our home town is gone. There are waves of grief. And waves of sweet memories.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We met at the Rancho - a beloved local establishment in Alta Dena (now gone). We got married in Altadena, and we raised our children here. This home was the only home our son Truet knew. He lost his school, his home and his town all at once. We were one of many displaced by this tragedy.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We want everyone to know that all the outpouring of support makes us feel seen and supported and loved, it goes straight to our heart. We are so humbled.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are unmoored and lost at this time. We loved this house. Abby made this house the sweetest home ever, in the middle of this sweet garden town. The memories are wonderful. But now we need to look to the future. We need to begin to rebuild. We’ve decided to take on the term "Home Free" - so we are turning our eyes to our future.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>When we opened our suitcases to see what we still owned - it was a shock. It's shocking to the core to lose everything. So now we begin to look forward again with our beautiful community at our backs. We’re so grateful. Thank you so much for all the love and support.

Help Stefan, Abby, and True After Fire

<div>Friends and allies: I have the opportunity to return to Arizona for the last two weeks of this
</div>
<div>enormously important national election.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With a new and insanely corrupt Supreme Court precedent waiting for the next President (granting immunity for criminal activity if it is "related to his/her official duties"), I am increasingly feeling a deeply unwelcome identification with German citizens of the early 1930’s.
</div>
<div>In 1932, Adolf Hitler was a candidate for President of Germany. He lost that election but was nevertheless appointed as Chancellor nine months later. I feel that we are dangerously close to a fascist dictatorship in the U.S. and I must do more to help avert that disaster.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I have a free place to stay for two weeks with a fellow activist in Tucson. Your donations now will help cover my car rental, travel expenses and some limited campaign materials.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My focus will be on helping to elect climate hawk Kirsten Engel to the U.S. House; electing Rueben Gallego to the U.S. Senate; passing the reproductive rights measure on the AZ ballot; and of course winning Arizona’s electoral college votes for Harris/Walz.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I will be staying two full days past election day in order to help with ballot “curing” in Arizona.
</div>
<div>Thank you for whatever small donation you feel is appropriate.

<div>This is a private fundraiser for Abby. If you are receiving this link it’s because you know what she has gone through and you want to help out in any way you can! Those of us who love her- which is everyone who knows her- can’t believe that she had to undergo this medical travail. Hopefully we can discreetly, quietly and subtly put together a pool of money to help her and Stefan and True get through this time of healing without the added stress of financial hardship. (Please don’t share this link on any public social media pages- it’s just the easiest way to gather and distribute emergency funds but we also want to keep her private life private!)

<p>Update: PLEASE read updates to this fundraiser, to see the new info on Quinn's treatment and care, as to why the goal has been raised! New care plan, doctor and we hope, prognosis.
</p>

<p>Share if you can, help if you can. More info soon. <br />____<br /><br />Quinn Yarbrough (aka Ghost Dancer) has been diagnosed with a stage 4 inoperable cancer in his neck. This tumor has encased his left carotid and vertebral arteries feeding parts of his shoulder and his spine.<br /><br />Quinn needs financial help to manage his current condition and to get him through whatever's next for him. Sadly, he has been told he has about 6 to 9 months to live. This is a diagnosis offered from allopathic doctors at top teaching universities. His friends want him to be comfortable and to have further options available through this hard time.<br /><br />Quinn’s spirit and giving soul ran deep in the DPW and at Burning Man for 9 years. In 2004 Quinn was hired as The Construction Foreman to develop the Burning Man Ranch and joined Burning Man’s Department of Public Works’ circle in 2005 when he became Special Projects Manager. Later that same year his leadership and talent was noted, and he was promoted to Ranch Manager. In 2007, Quinn joined the Senior Staff and the DPW Council, and was then promoted to Nevada Properties Manager becoming the resident caretaker for all of Burning Mans various properties in Gerlach and at the Ranch until 2013.<br /><br />

It was with nothing more than a shrug that Quinn took on the unenviable task of organizing and rebuilding the wreckage junkyard that was The Ranch. To the amazement of all, finally there was a place for everything, and everything was in its place.<br /><br />In the course of Quinn’s efforts, he assembled a trusted and loyal team, and some remain his truest friends to this day. His secret? He worked his ass off, and he took care of his crew. He took at face value the “W” part of BRC-DPW; Work. His energy was hard to keep up with, but it set a tone of accomplishment that still holds today at the crucial facility that supports many vital parts of the Burning Man Project. His mark prevails.<br /><br />Nobody should have to work this hard to rest and receive palliative care. 100% of funds go directly to Quinn’s support in his next steps. He is in a tremendous amount of pain, and needs to afford the palliative care that can bring him comfort during this moment, as soon as possible. Let’s help him. Everything helps, and if you know him through other circles, we hope you will share as far and wide as possible to others who know him.

<div>In May 2020, events across America brought the injustice and deep-rooted racism that has long plagued the Black community to the forefront of the national discussion. These discussions continue to take place, from our dinner tables, during protests, and by our elected officials.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are witnessing history in the making–the time for change is now. <strong>We all must do our part to take action and make our voices heard. </strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The Justice + Equality Fund aims to do just that, addressing both urgent needs as well as broader, systemic issues tied to systemic racism. GoFundMe.org will be granting the donation received for this cause to organizations working to rectify the racial inequalities in our society.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Who benefits from your donation? </strong>
</div>
<div>At launch, donations will support organizations focused on pretrial system reform, racial justice, and law enforcement reform. Initial benefiting nonprofits will include The Bail Project, the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, and Center for Policing Equity. As we grant to new organizations, we will include them below.:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>- Advancement Project
</div>
<div>- Arts for Our Children
</div>
<div>- Barbershop Books
</div>
<div>- Black Leaders Organizing for Communities
</div>
<div>- Black Women’s Health Imperative
</div>
<div>- The Bail Project
</div>
<div>- Center for Policing Equity
</div>
<div>- Community Justice Fund, a project of Tides Foundation
</div>
<div>- Equal Justice Initiative
</div>
<div>- Freedom ROC
</div>
<div>- Innocence Project
</div>
<div>- Institute for Justice
</div>
<div>- The NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund
</div>
<div>- Voices for Racial Justice
</div>
<div>- Japanese Community Youth Council's Dreamkeeper Initiative
</div>
<div>- Oliver Scholars
</div>
<div>- RAHEEM
</div>
<div>- Renaissance Youth Center's Sustainable Development
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>These organizations were chosen for the leadership they’ve demonstrated and the meaningful impact they have had on the causes that the Justice + Equality Fund will initially benefit. This is just the first step. We’ll keep donors updated as we expand the reach of the Fund by adding additional individuals, organizations, and benefiting causes.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Racial inequality and injustice have no place in our society. It’s time to come together, keep this important conversation going, and help enact real change.

<div>We are committed to supporting justice and equality.

Justice and Equality Cause Fund

<p>We saw some folks are raising money for a border wall to keep out our migrant siblings and fellow human beings, who are fleeing violence and persecution and whose tragically-underpaid labor is essential to the U.S. economy. <a href="https://www.brookings.edu/essay/the-wall-the-real-costs-of-a-barrier-between-the-united-states-and-mexico/">Seems like a bad idea on countless levels for everyone involved.</a>  Maybe we should focus on human rights and creating a community that reflects our supposed values.
</p>

<p>And even though at a rate of $1.7 million daily, it would take their fund about 35 years to raise the <a href="https://www.politifact.com/california/statements/2017/apr/28/scott-peters/would-trumps-border-wall-cost-same-one-and-half-us/">$21.7 billion that Trump's own Dept. of Homeland Security says would be needed</a>  to build said wall, we wanna make sure ladders are ready to send over to our undocumented friends and help them.
</p>

<p>If this seems ludicrous, we welcome you to the coalition of reasonable adults.
</p>

<p>Should we not reach our goal--or should they (ahem) not reach theirs--all funds raised will go to the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services <a href="https://www.raicestexas.org/about/">(RAICES)</a> , a Texas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that promotes justice by providing free and low-cost legal services to underserved immigrant children, families, and refugees.
</p>

<p>You see, they’ll never reach their goal, but no matter how much we raise, we’re going to reach ours:
</p>

<p>Supporting an organization working to help immigrants seeking legal asylum. This GoFundMe isn’t really about ladders at all. It’s about lifting people up.

Ladders to Get Over Trump's Wall

My name is Lyndsey Boswell, and I am reaching out on behalf of the entire Ellis and Flynn family to ask for the support of friends and family. <br /><br />Over the past couple of weeks my God mother, Terry Ellis was devastated when she received the news of her stage 4 cancer diagnosis. This is especially profound considering she and her husband have two beautiful children ages 4 and 9.<br /><br />Terry Ellis is a beautiful, kind, strong, and genuine woman, loved by all who are lucky enough to know her. We’re asking for funds to help Terry have time to heal, Tim have time to focus on kids, and money to help offset both alternative and standard treatments. Help us support her family in this time of need.<br /><br /><strong>UPDATE:</strong> Unfortunately its still to early to give much of an update. Terry has stage 4 breast cancer, which means she has breast cancer that has spread to other organs (lungs  and liver). Her oncologist is still waiting until next Wed(approximately) to hear what treatments the cancer will be available to (there is a culturing process that achieves that). We have been given no time or longevity estimates but the situation is dire. <br /><br />This diagnosis arose because of a hospital event, Terry had a fluid filled lung that led to the discovery of tumors. Terry knew as soon as she received this diagnosis that she would seek alternative treatment. Given that it would take several weeks to learn the standard course of treatment Terry chose to dive in and is now receiving intensive treatments through Hope For Cancer (hope4cancer.com) She is already feeling stronger, its of course too soon to tell how those therapies will succeed.<br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/19114646_1490267873.4575_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/19114646_1490267955.0681_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/19114646_1490267985.6993_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/19114646_1490268019.111_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/19114646_1490268045.8943_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/19114646_1490268084.6994_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" />

<p><strong>NEW UPDATE 10 AUGUST: <a href="http://donaldtrumpswearjar.com" target="_blank">Donald Trump's Metaphorical Swear Jar</a> </strong> (aka "Phase II") is live but in a preliminary phase. Ongoing satirical/charitable efforts (in the spirit of this campaign) will be concentrated there...please see "Updates" section just above this paragraph for information/explanation. May the Basic Human Decency be with us. #TrumpSwearJar<br /><strong><br /><span style="text-decoration:underline;">IMPORTANT:</span></strong> all money raised goes directly to vetted organizations working to help Syrian refugees, and <span style="text-decoration:underline;">NOT</span> to Trump or any political figure. Don't worry...it's satire for a good cause. Please read past the 2nd paragraph (well, 3rd paragraph counting this one. Sorry, math AND reading skills required at this point...which could actually help screen out and disorient the negative/ignorant trolls). <br /><br />On 2 August 2016, a veteran handed Donald Trump a Purple Heart medal at one of his rallies in Virginia. Making light of a military decoration awarded to combat-wounded service members just days after attacking a fallen soldier’s family, Trump remarked “I've always wanted to get the Purple Heart. This was much easier.”<br /><br />As with seemingly everything else in his life, Mr. Trump got one handed to him instead of earning it. That being said, <strong>as a Purple Heart recipient </strong>[<a href="http://imgur.com/a/FwMy5" target="_blank">proof</a> ]<strong> </strong>who earned one the old-fashioned way by returning from Afghanistan one leg lighter,<strong> I fully endorse his desire to earn one and would happily oblige his interest in doing so</strong>, by being one of the first to chip in to fly him to the conflict zone of his choosing. After all, <strong>y</strong><strong>ou're never too old to follow your dreams.</strong><strong><br /></strong><strong><br />…ok, let’s be serious.</strong> Super serious. We’re not going to be able to help Donald realize his conveniently retroactive military fantasies, and based on precedent he could likely get a series of deferments to avoid going even if we tried. So instead, we’re going to convert his toxic bigotry, ignorance, and callousness into something positive. As Michelle Obama said/as Melania Trump might say at some point in the future: "when they go low, we go high."<strong><br /></strong><br />What better way to do that than to redirect money to <strong>a good cause that Donald Trump would vehemently oppose: aiding Syrian refugees.</strong> All money actually raised will be distributed to vetted groups working directly with Syrian refugees as well as refugees of similar conflict zones - the decent fellow humans who were unfortunate enough to be in one of these regions when everything around them collapsed, and whom Trump has broadly categorized as likely terrorists unworthy of resettlement.<br /><br /><strong>Due to the amount raised so far, the funds will be split between three organizations</strong> with different specialties:<br />-1/3 of it will go to the <a href="http://www.rescue.org" target="_blank">International Rescue Committee</a>, which is one of the nine voluntary agencies (VOLAGs) that work directly with the admitting/screening U.S. government agencies to help refugees “move in” and establish their new lives, while at the same time helping them become self-sufficient and well-integrated members of their community.<br />-1/3 of it will go to the <a href="http://www.sams-usa.net/society/" target="_blank">Syrian American Medical Society</a>, which is comprised of medical professionals of Syrian descent offering a wide range of medical services to Syrians in need, both inside and outside of Syria. In addition to providing medical care themselves, they also help to “teach a man to fish” by providing instruction to Syrian medical professionals.<br />-1/3 of it will go to <a href="http://net.fluechtlinge-willkommen.de" target="_blank">Refugees Welcome International</a>, essentially an “AirBnB for refugees” that engages our European and Canadian friends whose governments allow private refugee sponsorship (something the U.S. does not yet do). Because so much of the spirit of this fundraiser is centered around a unified global outlook (we’re all fellow homo sapiens, sitting on a rock hurtling through space together), I figured we could help our European and Canadian allies demonstrate the efficacy of private sponsorship.<br /><br /><strong>Why these three groups?</strong> I wanted at least two of the organizations to be smaller (yet established) groups that need the money more than the big VOLAGs, while at the same time giving at least some to a leading secular VOLAG with a proven record. Furthermore, I could not find anything substantially negative on any of them, save for the occasional xenophobic lowest-common-denominator all-caps rantings of Trump supporter types on obscure blogs/social media.<br /><br /><strong>Admin note:</strong> GoFundMe holds fundraisers legally accountable for using money raised on their site "in the exact manner you state within your campaign." I have contacted all three organizations via email (and Facebook) to figure out how to transfer the money directly to them when this fundraiser concludes. Proof of transfer and full receipt of funds will be provided (both on this page and in an email to donors) for purposes of transparency.<br /><strong><br />UPDATE</strong> (5 August around 5:30pm): <strong>#PurpleTrumpsOrange</strong> is now the official hashtag for this fundraiser (credit to Ollie Mastrangelo).</p>
