This is a Go Fund Me request for my friend Wendy  Blevins who was tragically injured when kicked by a horse. Wendy is an accomplished horse woman, but the yearling she was handling managed to kick her so hard that it ruptured the connection between her stomach and her small intestines. She underwent two long and intense surgeries and spent two days on a ventilator.  A week later, she’s still in the hospital, and she will need an in home caregiver for several more weeks.   Wendy is a newlywed; marrying Shawn Blevins in May.  Their hopes and dreams came to an earth shattering halt Tuesday Aug 25.  Shaun has been by her side throughout and will continue as her caregiver as long as needed. Fortunately, I have never been seriously injured by a horse, but it can happen to any of us, and it happens in a split second.  As a friend and fellow horse woman, I am launching this Go Fund Me page to help with Wendy’s expenses until she and Shawn can resume their lives. Jenn was diagnosed with breast cancer, Stage 2a Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, on April 19, 2019. She and her husband, artist Damon Thompson, have three wonderful kids, Banks, Grey, and Selah. She works in administration at Professional Plumbing. Jenn has a heart of gold and is *always* the first to help people in need. Her compassion and caring nature is inspiring to all that know her. Her treatment will consist of chemo therapy, a mastectomy, reconstructive surgery, and radiation. As you can imagine, she will need a considerable amount of time off of work to fight this cancer with everything she has. Along with missing work while she receives treatment, she will incur exorbitant amounts of medical bills. Cancer is hard enough without the additional stress of finances. Please join us in rallying around this incredible woman to help take the financial burden off of her and her family. This campaign is set up to raise $7,500 to purchase new brochures for Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site.  Please help!! Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site is considered one of the largest and most complex archaeological sites north of the great Pre-Columbian cities in Mexico.  It is one of only 22 UNESCO (The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) World Heritage Sites in the United States. The Cahokia Mounds Interpretive Center is open to the public, administered by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency and supported by the Cahokia Mounds Museum Society.  All educational programming, research and land acquisition projects are funded by the Cahokia Mounds Museum Society (CMMS).  CMMS generates revenue for these efforts with gift shop sales, memberships and donations.  Recently, the hours of operation have been decreased by 25% by the State of Illinois due to budget cuts.  Fewer open hours means that the CMMS has a reduced revenue of 25%.  As a result, these budget cuts are forcing the elimination of site brochures.  These brochures are given to visitors to explain the wonders of what Cahokia Mounds has to offer.  The purpose of this campaign is to help the Cahokia Mounds Museum Society purchase new brochures in order to continue to enlighten and allow visitors to have the best experience possible.  Our goal is to raise $7,500 to cover the cost of printing 200,000 brochures. <a href="http://www.cahokiamounds.org">Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site</a> <img class="not-resizable" src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/3107392_1422679362.1224_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /> <img class="not-resizable" src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/3107392_1422679413.6043_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" />
