<div>I’ve battled with my weight for as long as I can remember — not from a lack of trying, but because of PCOS (a hormone disorder), which made it nearly impossible to lose weight no matter how many diets or exercise programs I followed. Then came the pandemic…and with it, a toxic, abusive relationship that pushed me even further into isolation and pain. I gained over 100 pounds during quarantine, - ballooning to 397 lbs - reaching a point where I no longer recognized myself — physically or emotionally.

<div>In July 2022, desperate to save my life, I underwent Duodenal Switch surgery. It was the hardest decision I’ve ever made — but also the best. Since then, I’ve lost 226 pounds, shed over 40% body fat, and dropped 36 BMI points. I’ve done the work — physically, emotionally, mentally — to reclaim my health and my future.

<div>For the first time, I can shop in the regular clothing section. I can sit in chairs without fear. I weigh less than the women in my life I used to idolize and dream of looking like one day. And yet…I still feel like I have to hide.

<div>The loose skin left behind is a constant, painful reminder of where I was — and a barrier between me and where I want to be. It causes painful rashes and infections unless I shower constantly. I wear long sleeves, even in summer, to hide the skin that hangs from my arms. I avoid shorts and skirts because of chafing on my thighs. I can’t wear bras comfortably due to extra skin on my torso. Most clothes don’t fit properly, and I’m still covering myself up, still trying to disappear — even after everything I’ve overcome.

<div>I’m incredibly grateful for how far I’ve come. I wouldn’t change my journey. But I need help taking this final step toward healing. I’ve been approved by a highly respected surgeon, Dr. Louis Suarez in Tijuana, Mexico, to remove the excess skin from my arms, stomach, and torso as part of a single surgery (with thighs separately later on). The cost for this first life-changing procedure is approximately $22,000 — and I can’t do it alone.
