<div>Hi, our names are Misty and Jerry. We have been living in Anna, Illinois, at the same house for 3 years now. Through those three years, we have tried getting our landlord to make repairs—repairs that affect health and safety. We finally pushed the issue last month of him making the repairs, and now he is evicting us. <strong>The repairs needed are foundation issues of the house/basement and constant flooding and mold.</strong> The roof also leaks down into the walls, which have created mold in the walls. We were lied to when we moved in that the basement didn't leak. It did leak, along with sewage running into the floor from broken sewage pipes that you can tell have been leaking for a long time. We moved everything into it, and it flooded 2 weeks after moving everything in. We were then promised access to the garage and still have not been given access to store stuff in it. The smell of mold comes up through the floor, making us all get headaches and feel sick. On top of this, we have a disabled 7-year-old daughter. She has hemiparesis of the right side. She has come a long way in trying to walk and use her arm. Her name is Renesmae. She has also been diagnosed with ADHD and ODD. <strong>We are trying to raise this money to keep from being homeless on 5/14/25 until we can get a Rural Development Loan to buy a house and to also obtain a lawyer to sue our landlord.</strong> It is against the law for a landlord to evict someone because they asked for repairs to be done. I have text messages to prove my case and many pictures of the house repairs that are needed. We are already in the process of getting our loan on the ball, but it's still going to take extra money for rental insurance, classes for home ownership, and possibly closing costs. We are a family of 2 adults and three children. Our only income is my daughter's SSI, and I receive cash and link assistance through DHS. I am currently looking for employment as well. <strong>Please help us move forward instead of getting knocked backwards and being homeless. Any amount helps and is very appreciated.</strong> Thank you.
