<div>Running from her grief, 26-year-old Sloane moves to a seaside retirement community where all encounters point her toward the library, and it doesn’t take much reading between the lines for her to realize something very sinister is going on below the surface. With the help of her unusual neighbor Darcy, the only other young person in town, Sloane stumbles upon the adventure of a lifetime. Sincere, campy, and raw, this thrilling, women-led sci-fi drama is a story about finding friendship and connection in an increasingly technology-dependent world, all set against the backdrop of cults, libraries, the ocean, and aliens.

<div>I am autistic and although I’m good at masking, I’ve always found it difficult to develop friendships. Storytelling and story enjoying has been my guiding light to finding community and connection with others. At its heart, this audio drama is about lonely people finding their community- finding a family. I’ve poured a lot of my insecurities, awkwardness, and feelings into this show, hopefully in a way that other neurodivergent people can relate to. This story is inspired by a lifetime of watching Doctor Who, the Twilight Zone, and Goosebumps, and the format will be based off of old sci fi radio shows- with immersive soundscapes and weekly cliffhangers. I’ve spent two years writing and planning out this project. It would mean everything to finally be able to share this story with the world!

<div>My goal is to be able to pay all the people involved in this podcast. I’ve done many creative projects for free, and I know how amazing it would be to have been compensated for my time. I’ve just gone back to college, so unfortunately, I don’t have any extra money to spare right now. I’ve drawn some artwork, I have all the equipment I need, and I’ll be directing and scoring the show, so the only thing left to do is pay the other people involved.

<div>I tried to break down the financials into a silly song, but here’s a recap. Ideally, I’d like to pay each of the four lead actors $100 for each of the seven episodes ($700 per person). Then the four smaller parts would each get a total payment of $150. Then I need to pay my audio engineer, the podcast hosting platform, legal fees, and promotional fees (so roughly $3000).

I'm climbing the 7 Summits (the tallest mountain on each continent) to support Brave Trails -- a life changing summer camp for LGTBQ youth. <br /><br /><b>Why??</b><br />Because I am a gay man who struggled with my identity as a kid, and LGBTQ young people STILL have it extremely hard (even in the US):<br />

</ul><br /><strong>What is Brave Trails? </strong>[<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfE_KWeUq7k" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">BraveTrails Video</a> , <a href="https://www.bravetrails.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Website</a> ]<br />Brave Trails is a summer camp built by the LGBTQ community for today's LGBTQ youth. There are camp classics like archery and s'mores, but also dress-up closets and queer history lessons. It's colorful, it's silly, and most importantly it's a community where everyone is welcome. For instance, last year more than 50% of campers identified as non-cisgender.<br /><br />I had a chance to visit BraveTrails in the summer of 2021 and it took my breath away. The freedom, joy, and connection I saw were awe-inspiring.
