<div>No one can truly understand what Big Al has done for us except him; a consistent contributor to our house and culture since 2004, one can only imagine the things he's seen over the years. From missed kitchen duty, broken appliances, to a kitchen nearly burnt to the ground, Big Al somehow persevered through all our mayhem to continuously supply us with his amazing Southern cuisine and electric energy that brought smiles to everyone at the house.

<div>A retirement party for Big Al will be held on April 23 (a week before his 81st birthday!) at Hero's Welcome in Vancouver from 6 to 8 PM. We look forward to seeing many alumni and actives stop by and give their final salute to Big Al and his family.

Big Al's Cash Retirement Gift

<div>Alfie was leaving his brother's flat when he saw a blur plummet from the second story window. The accompanying screams had him in shock: it was his 11-month-old puppy, Noodle, his best friend and therapy dog. Noodle had jumped because he saw his human outside, and didn't realize that running to him would result in shattered bones in both of his forearms (the bottom part of the foreleg). With the help of loving neighbors, Alfie and his brother were able to splint both forelegs and rush Noodle to the animal hospital. Noodle needed emergency surgery. Doctors set the bones and fit metal plates into each broken leg. To cover the costs, Alfie, a college student with spectrum disorder, sold everything of value he owns (his Playstation and two guitars, and soon his car). But the bill was high, and Noodle's insurance did not cover it. Alfie still needs £8000 to pay for the procedures and we, his friends, are rallying to get that together for him. Noodle is his best friend and an essential source of emotional support and well-being for Alfie. We all love Noodle too. If you knew him, so would you. Can you help with a small contribution? Help Noodle recover from traumatic fall

<p>Jonathan Tjarks, our friend and former Mavs Moneyball staff writer, is battling a difficult form of cancer. Our staff is located all over the world  and  since not all of us can be at the fundraiser (more below) we want to help raise funds for him and his family to help with medical care, expenses, and other needs. Insurance only covers so much given the kind of treatments he's receiving. We will present these funds to the Tjarks family at a fundraiser at <a href="https://www.thepubmckinney.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Pub McKinney</a>  on July 31st (1-4pm, which you can also attend. <br /><br />The Pub McKinney from 1-4pm on July 31st.<br />204 W.
