<div>Most recently, we spent the week in and out of the vet trying to get to the bottom of digestive issues which most recently landed us in the emergency vet for a day. We’re still trying to get to the bottom of what’s going on, and so we have a good deal of treatment ahead.

<div>None of this is to address her hip issues, and injured CCL which needs immediate attention. Between what has been spent and what will be in the next few months, we are, again unexpectedly, in the 5-figure territory.

Support some GOOD good trouble in Minnesota

<div>Dear Community, we are reeling from the recent detentions of fourteen of our beloved fathers, sons, brothers, uncles: Tomas, Juan Fernando, Jose Paulino, Jacob, Miguel, Oscar, Uriel, Lazaro, Felimon, Ismael, Reynaldo, Luiz, Mario, and Jorge. Ranging in ages from 24 to 56.

<div>What was a normal workday for them became a nightmare when ICE raided the Ambiance warehouse in Downtown LA and enacted unlawful mass collateral arrests where our relatives were unjustly arrested and kidnapped.

<div>In our most dire moment of need, we turn to our chosen family and community for support as our family is facing urgent need for financial support. The kidnapping of 14 of our loved ones in one swoop is leaving fifteen families with young children, elders who rely on their caretaking, without their primary breadwinners and exacerbating existing struggles to make ends meet.

<div>Sadly one of our fourteen are now in San Isidro (we will still fight for their return), and are now securing legal representation for the others who we hope can be released on bond soon. We anticipate bond to be set between $1,500-$5K per person!! While we support them through this process, their families are left without their primary breadwinner and need financial support for daily childcare, food and bill expenses while they are detained.

Urgent Aid for LA Families of 14 Detained by ICE

My name is Mari Copeny, I’m a 12 year old from Flint, Michigan. You may know me as Little Miss Flint. I have been fighting to ensure my community has access to clean safe water since I was 8 years old. <br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/40432464_1565245639481535_r.jpeg" alt="40432464_1565245639481535_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br /><br />Ever since April 2014 my community has been faced with a lead crisis that we are still recovering from. <br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/40432464_1565239848895898_r.jpeg" alt="40432464_1565239848895898_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br /><br /><br />What’s even worse is that Flint is not the only community dealing with a water crisis. Across the country there are cities and communities being faced with their own water crisis, some have water even more toxic then Flint. <br /><br />Newark, NJ <br />Pittsburg, PN <br />NYC<br /><br /><br /><br />This is why I want to bring clean water not to just my community but to other communities across the country that are facing their own water crisis. <br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/40432464_1565245305962296_r.jpeg" alt="40432464_1565245305962296_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br /><br /><br />For these campaigns, I’m partnering with a socially-responsible water filtration company to bring state of the art water filters to communities nationwide that are impacted by poor water quality. The water filtration approach has three main advantages over bottled water:<br /><br /><br />1. <strong>Cost of Impact</strong>: Every dollar donated to this campaign will provide over 160 bottles worth of safe drinking water. This has 15x the impact of donating to bottled water campaigns. <br /><br />2. <strong>Time</strong>: In Flint, I see that people are spending hours in line to receive donations bottled water. By giving people the ability to have safe water, on demand in their home, they won’t have to take time off from work or spend their weekends lined up to get bottled water. <br /><br />3. <strong>Environmental Impact</strong>: While bottled water can be a good solution for immediate fix to a crisis, it is not a sustainable fix when the world is drowning in plastic pollution. <br /><br /><strong>Flint Water Crisis Background</strong> <br />The Flint Water Crisis began in 2014 when the drinking water source for the city of Flint, Michigan was changed from pre-treated water from Detroit to the Flint River and treated in the Flint Water Treatment Plant. The treatment plant was not equipped with the proper equipment to treat the water (which would have cost around $100 a day), and the river water damaged the pipes allowing lead and bacteria to get into the water. For month’s local officials and the media claimed the water was fine and that the residents were overreacting, even as scientist began to uncover just how bad the water crisis was. Many homes had water comparable to toxic waste.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><strong>“Little Miss Flint” Background </strong><br />Through my previous water donation campaigns, I was able to donate over ONE MILLION bottles of water to families impacted by the Flint Lead Crisis. My community needed water they could trust and bottled water was the only resource for drinking water that many in my community trusted. For my new donation campaign, my team has partnered with a socially-responsible water filtration company, which will allow us to maximize the impact of donated funds and eliminate the single use plastic waste that is associated with bottled water.<br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/40432464_156524176846158_r.jpeg" alt="40432464_156524176846158_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br /><br /><strong>Socially-Responsible Corporate Partner Background </strong><br />Hydroviv was Founded by a Ph.D. Chemist as a charitable response to the Flint Lead Crisis in 2015. Hydroviv was called out by The Chicago Tribune and BBC as the first water filter “company” to develop and donate high-capacity lead removal filters to families &amp; child-centric organizations in Flint. Four years later, Hydroviv now designs &amp; builds custom water filters for people around the US, and makes these products available to the public at a fraction of the cost of comparable systems. Hydroviv recently appeared on ABC’s Shark Tank where Mark Cuban praised Hydroviv’s charitable roots as “doing well by doing good.” For this campaign, Hydroviv has agreed to provide their premium filters at their break-even cost.

Many people will be losing their health insurance and income soon.<br /><br />This is a fund to ensure that no trans woman/transfeminine person has to go without our estrogen.<br /><br />This is an EMERGENCY FUND with limited capacity, only for people who have been prescribed estradiol and cannot afford it through insurance or any other means.<br /><br />If this fund is successful enough I would like to expand it to also help trans men/transmasculine folks access their testosterone, but for now it is very limited in scope out of necessity.

Trans Women Pandemic Medical Fund

This fund was started for a small community of Black Trans women living on the streets of Atlanta, many of whom are also sex workers. We now are not only able to help this community, but this project has grown into a unique opportunity to alleviate the chronic homelessness that exists among Trans people in Atlanta, especially among Black &amp; brown Trans people.<br /><br /><strong>Who I Am</strong><br /><br />My name is Jesse Pratt López. I am a Trans Latina from Colombia who calls Atlanta home. I use my experiences as a documentary photographer and grassroots activist to help folks from my community use their voices to resist systems of oppression and step into their own power. You can check out my photography at www.<a href="https://www.jprattlopez.photos/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">jprattlopez</a> .photos.<br /><br /><strong>Where We Started</strong><br /><br />I started this fund in mid-December 2019 to help a small group of Trans sisters I had met through ReVon Michaels, the “bougie queen” as she likes to call herself.<br /><br />ReVon is a Sagittarius with a huge smile and laugh, and an even bigger appetite. I first met her when she was strutting down the sidewalk in front of a Publix in downtown Atlanta. She was wrapped in a large blanket; her wig haphazardly placed upon her head and her curls as big as her smile. She asked if I could spare some change. I was about to tell her no, I don’t carry cash and I’m broke. But when I took a closer look, I realized at that moment that I was seeing my sister. My Trans sister. One of the Gurlz. A T-Slur as they like to call us on PornHub.com or right before they violate us.<br /><br />I told her that she looked beautiful and that I would be right back with some cash and a sandwich. When I returned she was so happy to see me. I asked her if I could take her picture.<br /><br />I would come back every couple of days to visit ReVon, or she would come to my house. We hung out, shared food, and she introduced me to the other girls who live and work on the Hoe Stroll – Piedmont Avenue, Atlanta, Georgia.<br /><br />I began a photo project to document the everyday lives of these Black Trans women: mundane, ugly, beautiful. Society has abandoned and discarded these girls. But their strength lies not in their struggles; it is in their survival in the face of adversity and their existence in the face of oppression. While creating this body of work, I walked the stroll with them, not only in order to walk in their shoes, but also because as a Trans woman myself, I realized this: while the rest of the world wants us not to exist, we are here, we have always been here, and we’re not going anywhere.<br /><br /><br />ReVon calls me momma. I call her daughter. And sometimes the roles are reversed. In the Trans community, we are each other’s elders because many of us don’t have anyone to support us. Since we met, I have become really close with ReVon — and the circle of my chosen family has become a little bit bigger.<br /><br /><br /><strong>The Fund: Where It Began and Where It’s Going</strong><br /><br />Once we became close, ReVon and the girls would share stories about the violence they experienced on the streets of Atlanta: getting raped, robbed, shot, and almost killed. Survival sex work has historically been the only profession that many Trans women have been able to succeed in. Many girls, especially when they don’t pass for society’s ideal archetype of what a woman should be, are denied jobs, housing, and other opportunities.<br /><br />Through my photography and presence in the Atlanta queer and trans arts and organizing scene, I saw a chance to get the girls the support and resources they needed. After initially raising $10,000 through this fund, I was able to secure them temporary housing through the winter holidays and assist with getting them necessities such as food, cell phones, clothes, and spending money. Eventually, I was also able to connect some of the girls to Jayme Stegar, the Lead Trans Outreach Specialist at <a href="https://someonecaresatl.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Someone Cares Atlanta</a>  Jayme was able to assist in finding  two of the girls a room in a rooming house led by Trans people. She has also been instrumental in connecting the girls to STI (sexually-transmitted infections) testing services and ensuring that they have the support to manage their immediate needs.<br /><br /><br />Unfortunately, by April 2020, we had run out of funds, at a time where the need was more pressing than ever in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Through contributions from so many generous people, we were able to raise an additional $10,000.<br /><br /><br />Shortly after meeting this second goal, as uprisings ignited across the country to protest the murder and injustice faced by Black lives, this campaign received a resurgence of support. With over 70,000 donors, we have been able to raise $2 million and the fund continues to grow. With this renewed support, it became clear that we can achieve positive, sustainable, and permanent changes for the larger community of Black &amp; Brown Trans women in Atlanta.<br /><br />To that end, I have surrounded myself with local Trans-led organizations such as <a href="https://www.snap4freedom.org/home" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Solutions Not Punishment Collaborative</a> , <a href="http://www.southernfriedqueerpride.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Southern Fried Queer Pride</a>  and the <a href="http://transhousingatlanta.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Trans Atlanta Housing Program</a> , as well as service providers such as <a href="https://someonecaresatl.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Someone Cares Atlanta</a> , to begin working on a plan composed of smart goals for this transformed project. Further, I’ve been talking with the girls about their hopes for the future: what they need to build a stable foundation and what is now possible thanks to your support. <br /><br />With guidance and assistance from these organizations, I am working towards establishing a project guided by the Pathways <a href="https://endhomelessness.org/what-housing-first-really-means/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Housing First model</a> , based on the idea that “nothing in any person’s history or present precludes them from being able to be housed.” I have benefited greatly from the wise and kind input of Dr. Sam Tsemberis, the founder of Pathways to Housing in New York and originator of the Housing First model.
