<div>On Friday, January 2, my older brother Phil was in a traumatic skiing accident in Vail, Colorado where he was vacationing with my niece (11) and nephew (8) from Charlotte, NC. He was transported to HCA OneHEALTH Swedish in Englewood, CO (Denver) where he underwent emergency surgery for a fractured c4 vertebrae. His spinal cord is damaged and he is currently stable in the trauma ICU.

<div>At this time, Phil is coherent and able to communicate, but we will need to wait days or weeks for the swelling and spinal trauma to alleviate before the full extent of his injury can be established. He will remain in the hospital during this time. He does have feeling in his arms and hands. He does not have feeling in his legs and we are remaining positive that the sensation will return once swelling subsides.

<div>The details of his recovery and healing are unknown as of this time, but there is going to be a long road ahead for Phil, his wife Aisling, and their two young children. Now, and for the foreseeable future, Phil will need extensive ongoing care and rehabilitation and we are asking for help to support the next steps as well as his family, so the burden can be lifted slightly.

He's an incredibly smart and talented scientist with a PhD from UC Berkeley and works in 3D printing. He loves to travel the world with his family, coach his son's baseball team, watch his daughter on the soccer field, and eat / cook delicious meals with his wife.

<div>On 9th September 2023, my partner gave birth to our wonderful son Louie at just 28 weeks.

<div>Over the course of the 4 months Louie spent in hospital, we received fantastic care and support from everyone at The Aberdeen Maternity Hospital and Neonatal Unit, The Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow and two above-mentioned organizations.

<div>The Archie Foundation is responsible for many things among providing additional equipment in the Neonatal Unit, transport for families who have appointments in the hospital, specialist training and equipment for the families who need it and of course making the Children's hospital as enjoyable as possible with various activities and events.

<div>The Ronald McDonald House in Glasgow very kindly accommodates families in a safe, comfortable living space on the hospital grounds whilst their child is being cared for. The House is run by a private charity and relies on the generosity of the public to allow it's great work to continue. The most incredible part of the house, is that it is completely free of charge for the families who stay there, relieving the financial stress on top of all else.

<div>On June 1st 2024 at 7am, I will embark on a 165 Mile journey from Ronald McDonald House in Glasgow, and run non-stop until I reach The Royal Aberdeen Children's hospital. A little over 6 marathon's back to back, will see me run for over 30 hours in an attempt to raise as much money as possible to give back a tiny piece of what I have received.

Help with Ryan's Medical Costs

Since we first opened our doors in 2013, The Oregon Public House has donated more than $210,000 to nonprofit organizations in the greater Portland area. We have also hosted countless fundraisers, markets, celebrations, and gatherings for the nonprofit community and the neighborhood at large. We have seen children grow up as their families returned week after week, year after year.  And we've been able to witness lives changed, through the tireless work of our nonprofit partners.<br /><br />The first wave of COVID-19 hit at a time when our business was coming out of a tough winter, with our spring and summer full of promise (and reservations!) -- instead of making it through the last of the slow season, we had to shut our doors entirely and regroup. Since March 2020, life at OPH has been a rollercoaster. It has been through the hard work and sacrifice of staff, volunteers, and community members that we have avoided going out of business. But now, going into the second winter of the pandemic, we find ourselves at a new low. <br /><br />There is so much potential in The Oregon Public House right now. We have brilliant, dedicated people working here who have so many ideas for how to come out of this season even better than before. We have a mission that matters. Help the Oregon Public House get through COVID-19

My friend Victoria, her partner Jarred and beautiful daughter Ellie — who has multiple severe disabilities including a seizure disorder — are all ill with the coronavirus, and quarantined at home. This is while their city of Portland is under three states of emergency — the pandemic, the wildfires and the social unrest. 

I know them to be incredibly hard-working, but they can never seem to catch a break. Victoria was working as a CNA and going to nursing school full time while Jarred worked in construction. In August, Jarred was in a not-at-fault car accident and is currently unable to work. They have no cushion or family to help, and they will be unable to pay any bills, or make their next rent payment. 

I know the need in our world is overwhelming right now, but this is a family you can really make a positive and direct impact on right now. They need your help. 

Tori, a former foster child with a heart of gold, also has Type 1 diabetes, and had to be ambulanced to the hospital after collapsing in their driveway. She was diagnosed with pneumonia and diabetic ketoacidosis, in addition to COVID-19. She was just discharged today (9/12/2020). She is still incredibly sick, weak, and unable to function.

Victoria and Jarred need help!

Hi,<br /><br />I am Phillip Blocklinger and I am the brother of Tracy Lukens.<br /><br />A devastating fire started in the early hours of December 13, 2017 at the Lukens family home in Schwenksville PA.<br /><br />Bryan, my brother-in-law, who is an Iraq War veteran and sheriff's deputy; and my sister made every effort to save their three children and the family dogs. Devastatingly my two sweet nephews and the family's dogs did not survive. <br /><br />My sister's family has lost everything and nothing can replace what they have lost. However, this account was set up by a family friend with a goal to raise at least $10,000 to provide the Lukens family with some support when they are able to start piecing things back together. Whether that be money toward a new home, clothes or whatever they determine they need as they begin to recover from this tragedy. <br /><br />The loss of a child is felt deeply by so many and our hearts ache for what has happened. We are so grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. Lukens Family Relief Fund

Many of us have been at a loss of words for Charity, in reality, there are NO words. All we can do is support her in anyway we can. <br /><br />I was asked to start this fund for Charity Woodrum, the mother and wife of Jayson Thomas and little Woody. She is in need of all the help we can give her. I know most everyone knows what's going on because it's all over the news but I'll give a quick overview. <br /><br />Sunday afternoon, January 15th, 2017, they were spending time at the beach in Port Orford, OR (Cape Blanco area) and a sneaker wave came in and swept Jayson and their son out to sea. Charity tried to help but the ocean was just way to strong, she hopelessly watched her husband and 3 year old son until she couldn't see them anymore. After efforts from the US Coast Guard and other first responders, Jayson and Woody have not been found.<br /><br />We are asking for support for Charity in this time of absolute devastation. She's in need of emotional support (which her immediate family are doing a great job at). She is also needing financial support to help pay for the coming expences: funeral expenses, housing and bills (Jayson was the primary financial provider in the house) and she's going to need help to get the necessary care she needs to heal from the loss of her husband and son.
