<div>I (Hannah) opened the door to find a police officer standing there. In that moment, I was told my brother, Steven, had been in a serious car accident.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Steven was blue-lighted to King’s Hospital after telling paramedics he couldn’t feel his body. Doctors later confirmed the devastating news: he had broken his neck in two places.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Steven underwent multiple surgeries and spent over a week in an induced coma. When he finally woke, our worst fears were confirmed. Steven is quadriplegic, with a partially severed spinal cord.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>After time in Margate ICU and the Canterbury Neuro Rehabilitation Unit, Steven has now been transferred to Stoke Mandeville Hospital, where he is receiving specialist spinal injury treatment.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Steven’s future is uncertain. He will never walk again, and it’s likely he will never regain full use of his arms.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Watching Steven go through this has been heartbreaking. We are grieving the brother and son we once knew, while trying to face a future none of us were prepared for.
</div>

</div>
<div>Steven also has a four-year-old daughter who, heartbreakingly, will never be able to fully hug or take part in everyday activities with him in the way most children can.
</div>

</div>
