<div>Hello, my high school math teacher and long-time family friend, <strong>Tom Beveridge, and his wife, Joanna, lost their beloved home in the Pack Fire on Gregory Lane.</strong> Thankfully, both were out of town when the fire hit, or crews probably would have had a difficult time getting Beveridge out of his beloved home that they built in 1995.

One of his most treasured jobs is riding in the 4th of July parade, bringing in the American flag. His wife, Joanna, was a meticulous housekeeper. Anyone who knows Joanna knows she would antique shop for months antiquing for just the right item for their home.

Wildly creative and endlessly curious, AnnaSophia was always in the middle of an art project and had hoped to become a fashion designer one day. <div>Hi, my name is Kim Polson. I have the privilege of working alongside many outstanding educators who endlessly and selflessly give their hearts and souls to children in our school community. One of those educators is an Assitant in our Strategies classroom. Students in our Strategies classroom have Autistic qualities. This Assistant is so many things for our students. She is kind, consistent, ensures students' safety and helps our students grow endlessly, socially/emotionally, and academically.

<div>In addition to her full-time job as an Assistant at our school, she works two other part-time jobs to make ends meet. This requires that she works 7 days a week.

<div>This young man and his younger brother were involved in a serious motor vehicle accident last Wednesday evening in south Reno. Hayden sustained life threatening injuries . Hayden remained in critical condition while he was cared for at Renown Medical Center.

Carson Preston

<p>Our son-in-law Pete and daughter Toni have been married for 16 years and have 3 amazing children. He has worked many years in the psych field/treatment centers and is currently working in the medical facility at the Washoe County Sherriff's Department. He has helped so many people throughout his career. Pete became ill and pneumonia overtook his lungs. He ended up in the ICU being intubated, sedated, and put on a ventilator. He is slowly making progress. We are hoping and praying for this trajectory to continue. Pete's hospitalization and recovery will cause him to be out of work for an extended period of time and his family will be faced with large medical bills. The funds we raise for this little family will be used to cover incoming medical and other expenses.

In loving memory of Eugene Arao. We are heartbroken to say that our father, brother, uncle, and loving husband Eugene died suddenly on July 25, 2020, after a one-in-a-million accident at Stampede Reservoir. <br /><br />He was taken away too soon from his family who he loved more than anything in the world. Eugene leaves behind his wife and soulmate Cristina and three sons: 16-year-old Jeffrey, 15-year-old Cody, and 12-year-old Brady. He and Cristina were high school sweethearts and they had just celebrated 30 years together. Eugene is also survived by his mother Enae, two brothers Mario and Jay, and sister Aimee. <br /><br />Our community also benefited from Eugene's 6 years of honorable service in the US Army and over 20 years as a local postal carrier here in Reno, NV. <br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/50007124_159599728599122_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" alt="50007124_159599728599122_r.jpeg" /><br />Eugene was only 47 years old when he passed, and the world is a little less bright without him. He was everyone's best friend. And for the short time we were lucky to have him on this earth, we saw no end to his warmth, care, and compassion.<br /><br />We love him and miss him more than words can ever express, and it is hard to imagine what we will do now without him. Leavitt Meadows Pack Station has been in our family for over 60 years.  We absolutely love what we do. We take guests in and out of the wilderness by horseback and mule packing. This is never an easy business. We have had rough years, but we have always pulled through. Our margin is thin at best. Our passion for the back country, our livestock and our customers keeps us going. 

The current shutdowns due to COVID19 are threatening our livelihood.  We are a seasonal business with limited staff. This makes us ineligible for SBA emergency assistance.  Unfortunately, we have many expenses that can not be avoided. Our insurance policies have to be paid. Our livestock has to eat and be cared for.  We start our seasons with deposits.  We understand that with all the uncertainty people are unable to commit to vacation plans. 

We want nothing more than to survive this season and be here for our customers and family next season. 

We are asking you to donate any amount of money you can.  We are feeding 45 horses and mules daily. This equates to $150 a day.

Leavitt Meadows Pack Station: Surviving 2020

This beautiful, kind, funny, tall, boy passed away February 18, 2020.  Shannon, Rob, Codi, his grandparents (Anna and Kirk and Cora and Al) and his many, many friends and family lost this amazing kid to suicide.  <br /><br />Help us raise some funds to assist the Mateo family with all the unexpected costs,  and most importantly, lets help take some pressure off of them financially, giving them a chance to take the time they need to mourn their loss and heal as best they can. <br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/45634918_1582247948563434_r.jpeg" alt="45634918_1582247948563434_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br />Brandon reached out for help in December.  His family immediately got him help in the form of therapy, which he chose, and medications, which he also chose.  Hours and hours were spent together, surrounding him with love and talking through the difficult times. He was getting better.  His smile became bigger and it came more often. He was making plans. He was going snowboarding with his dad this weekend and he had plans to go to Portland with Shannon in March. But somehow, something changed. We will never know what happened on that tragic day, what changed in such an instant. What grabbed ahold of him and wouldn't let go. The Lundy children yet again experienced another loss when their dad unexpectedly passed away on July 29th , 2018. They also lost their mom to a serious illness 3 years ago. Our nieces and nephews have endured so much pain and heartache in the past three years. Karen was involved in a serious collision while traveling alone in Chicago on July 12th. She was standing behind her parked rental car and in front of a parked SUV when a car traveling at a high rate of speed came around the corner, slammed into her rental, pushed it out of the way and then slammed into Karen crushing her between both vehicles. <strong>She suffered at least four breaks in her right leg, a severely damaged right ankle and foot. At first, doctors didn’t think they could save the foot, but recently decided that she could keep it, though doing so means she'll deal with damaged tendons and skin grafts.  She also suffered a fractured left pelvis near the spinal column and a damaged left hip.</strong> <strong>So far,</strong> <strong>she has had almost 10 surgeries </strong>and is currently waiting the surgeons' okays to release<strong> </strong>her<strong> </strong>to a rehab hospital also in Chicago. <br /><br />Remarkably, Karen has been in good spirits. Her only concern so far has been the care of her two cats Sam &amp; CeCe. Fortunately, friends have been able to take turns visiting her home, caring for the cats  and assuring her "kids" that "mom" will eventually be home.<br /><br />Medical bills are beginning to come in and how she will pay for these is not something Karen needs to be worried about at this time. <strong>She is an 8th grade Algebra teacher in Reno, Nevada and will not be able to work during this fall semester.</strong> <strong>(Whether she is able to work in the spring semester will be determined later).</strong> While medical insurance will help pay for some of the medical bills, there are still many other out-of-pocket expenses which it will not cover including modifying her home to be wheelchair accessible, transportation fees of getting her back to Reno and into a second rehab center once she's there. <br /><br /><strong>While these costs, including copays and deductibles should be paid for by the responsible parties' insurance, that is a big question mark and likely a legal battle.</strong> <strong>Karen is facing the likelihood that she will be left financially responsible for all these out-of-pocket expenses.</strong> <br /><br />Please consider making a donation. Doing so will provide <strong>healing help for Karen </strong>so that she can get back to <strong>a normal life</strong>, including her beloved hiking and cycling.<strong><br /></strong>
