My name is Meredith Napisa, I'm currently enrolled at Tidewater Community College and have been there for around two years now with only about two more semesters to go before I am able to transfer. Being able to transfer as soon as possible is imperative for me as I am currently facing some stability issues from an unstable and unhealthy home environment. Consequently, I've enrolled in as many classes as possible to leave as soon as possible but as I'm sure many of you know, more classes= more money.

<div>I don't receive any financial aid or support from family and try to work as much as possible in order to afford the cost of tuition. However, as a server -especially in the winter months, it's proved to be increasingly difficult and the balance of 6 classes on top of that has been incredibly stressful to maintain. With my monthly earnings I am barely able to make the payment each month with it costing $800 out of pocket and has resulted in me no longer able to afford any of my medical bills, car maintenance costs, or basic necessities.

<div>I am slightly stubborn and prideful, so this is a pretty #vulnerable moment for me and asking for help this publicly is difficult to say the least. I don't take making this fundraiser lightly and I've been lucky enough to have friends who have supported me in any way they can, as well as aid from my school's resource and empowerment center but even with their help and care I am realistically out of options.

The reason my GoFundMe goal is over just that of tuition is for the aforementioned reasons; I have almost $3000 left to pay and need to secure what I can as soon as possible so that I am able to prepare and actually save for my remaining required courses and to secure housing in the near future along with my daily costs of gas, insurance, and my outstanding medical bills.

<div>I've found myself at a financial disadvantage in securing housing at college. I am 80% done with completing the journey to obtain a bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising at LIM College. One month away from completing an internship as a stylist for the company, The Style That Binds Us. I am constantly applying and interviewing to expand my career, experience, and credibility as a young, promising Black woman in the industry. To keep breaking the societal barriers in the industry, it requires attending my college courses, internship, part-time job, and interviews in person. <strong>Move-in day for returning students is this upcoming Sunday, August 31st.</strong> To secure housing for the Fall 2025/Spring 2026 academic year, it requires a deposit of $750 out of pocket at the time of application fulfillment; the rest is taken care of through student loans, scholarships, and grants. <strong>Anything helps, and I appreciate you for taking the time to read through this.</strong> Thank you for contributing to the success of my college degree and career.
