Emergency Help Needed for Buddy & Kiki After Paintball Poisoning Hi everyone, I’m reaching out on behalf of my brother, who is facing an unexpected emergency with his pets—Buddy the dog and Kiki the cat. They were our late mother’s beloved companions, and since her passing, my brother has stepped up to care for them, honoring her memory and keeping them safe. Tragically, both Buddy and Kiki recently got into some paintballs, not knowing they are highly toxic to animals. They are now at the emergency vet fighting for their lives. Paintball poisoning can cause severe vomiting, tremors, electrolyte imbalances, and can even be fatal without urgent medical treatment. Their vet bill is already at $1,800 and could increase depending on the care they need to pull through. My brother is doing everything he can to save them, but this kind of unexpected expense is more than he can handle alone. These two animals aren’t just pets—they are family, and they’re one of the last pieces of our mom that we still get to hold close. Since coming into rescue, he’s faced one emergency after another: • Severe dehydration and weakness • Worms and parasites from neglect • Mysterious tongue lesions that have veterinarians concerned about possible toxicity or underlying neurological issues • High fever and sudden illness that’s still being investigated We’ve already spent over $3,000 on his care with round-the-clock monitoring, diagnostics, IV fluids, and medications. The next step may require transfer to VCA Specialty & Emergency Hospital, where costs could easily reach $5,000–$6,000 or more. How You Can Help We know this is a big ask—but we can’t do this alone.
