We are raising funds for the treatment and care of Olivia, our beautiful baby girl. Little Livie has been diagnosed with a rare and serious genetic neuromuscular condition called spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) type 1.  SMA is caused by a gene deletion which results in deterioration of Livie’s nerve cells connecting her brain and spinal cord to her body’s muscles. There is no cure and Livie has its most severe type. Livie’s muscles used for activities such as crawling, walking, sitting up, moving her head, and even swallowing and breathing, are becoming progressively weaker and shrinking. Without any treatment, little Livie’s condition would continue to deteriorate and it would be unlikely that she would live past her 2nd birthday. Every child with SMA is different and little Livie’s future is very uncertain. Treatment options for little Livie are very limited.  Our best hope for a better life for Livie is a once-off gene therapy called Zolgensma, which is currently only available in USA. It costs approximately US$2,100,000. Studies have shown that Zolgensma can substantially improve quality of life. Livie's antibody test qualifies her for the treatment. We are against the clock as Zolgensma is only available to children under the age of two years. Little Livie’s Story Little Livie was born on the 26th August 2019. We have never felt a love like this. It was incredible for us to see our first child smile, laugh and babble for the first time and watch her develop her little bright, affectionate and loving personality. Livie brings such joy and happiness to our lives every day and her smile can brighten the whole room even on the rainiest Irish day. We grew concerned as Livie missed some of her development milestones. We contacted her GP and were eventually referred to Crumlin Children’s Hospital. Our world changed forever on 9th April when little Livie was diagnosed with SMA type 1. This condition affects approximately one in every 10,000 babies. It had already been such a hard time for our family with the COVID-19 lockdown. Due to hospital policy on social distancing, Karen (Livie’s mum) was alone when given the diagnosis and Keith (Livie’s dad) was alone when he heard the diagnosis over the phone. It is something that will stay with us and our family for the rest of our lives. We were left devastated and one of the hardest parts of this process is being isolated without support from our family and friends during this difficult time. SMA does not affect Livie’s cognitive ability. She remains a bright, alert and bubbly little girl, curious about everything she sees and desperate to experience life. Livie’s smile and laugh are infectious. She loves engaging with people and wants to be in the thick of every conversation around her. Normal infections and illnesses such as a chest infection can be very serious for Livie, possibly life-threatening. The current COVID-19 pandemic is so worryingly dangerous for Livie. Karen will be Livie’s full time carer as Livie needs support all day and every day. Her days and weeks are busy with medical appointments and check-ups. Livie has received her first dose of another treatment called Spinraza through a lumbar puncture in Ireland. We remain hopeful that Spinraza will prolong Livie’s life and allow Livie to gain a degree of head control and sit with extra support. We have been advised that Livie will still need respiratory and feeding intervention to survive. She is already struggling with her breathing and coughing. She needs to wear an oxygen mask every night. This is very uncomfortable for Livie and she struggles to sleep with it. It is very unlikely that Livie will ever stand or walk. We are fundraising for Zolgensma because we could never afford to pay for this treatment by ourselves. Our dream for Livie is to give her the best chance at life possible. Zolgensma is our best hope to do this. If we are unable to raise enough funds to pay for little Livie’s treatment, we will put all donations towards Livie’s care with the hope of giving her the most comfortable and happy life possible.

This GoFundMe page has been created to raise funds for the tragic case involving a 6 year old boy that occurred at the Tate Modern Gallery in London, UK on Sunday 4th August 2019.  On the 4th August 2019, a 6 year old French boy  was involved in a terribly tragic incident which has been widely reported in the International press. He was thrown by a stranger from a height of 100ft from the Tate Modern Viewing platform. He sustained very serious injuries in the fall including a bleed to the brain, fractures to his spine and broken legs and arms.  He is a French national and was visiting London with his family at the time of the incident.  This is an extremely sensitive case and we wish to show respect to the family's wishes of privacy as they focus on their son.  The hope is that this campaign may raise some funds to enable him to receive gold standard medical care and rehabilitation. The road ahead to recovery will undoubtedly be a long one and we want to show the family support every step of the way throughout this. Please give whatever you can in order to support a family in what is certain to be the most challenging of times. Medical Funds for the Tate Modern Gallery Tragedy

Le conseil municipal invite la population à la solidarité et à soutenir les quatre familles touchées par l’incendie ayant complètement ravagé leurs résidences la nuit dernière. Le maire Martin Damphousse et le directeur général de la Ville, Sébastien Roy, se sont rendus sur les lieux ce matin pour rencontrer les pompiers et les gens. Ils se réjouissent qu’il n’y ait eu aucun blessé.  « Nous prenons dès maintenant l’initiative d’aider les familles affectées et nous invitons la population à donner généreusement. Ces gens ont tout perdu et ont besoin de soutien dans cette épreuve difficile », déclare le maire Martin Damphousse.  La Ville remercie l’ensemble des pompiers de Varennes qui sont intervenus ainsi que ceux des villes de Verchères, Sainte-Julie et Saint-Amable pour leur entraide. La campagne se poursuit jusqu’au 1er juillet. Après cette date les fonds seront retirés par la Ville de Varennes et distribués également aux quatre familles éprouvées par l’incendie. We are working to bring awareness to the life saving importance of car seats for children.  Our goal is to raise $1,500 to distribute suitable car seats to families throughout the Salt Lake area. Why does this matter? We'll share a story from New Orleans, LA.  Amanda Stockfelt saved her 2-month old daughter Autumn's life during a tornado by strapping her car seat tightly to a desk.  The tornado tore through their area, lifting up the metal trailer they were in and ripping it apart.  The wind was so powerful, it pulled the sneakers from her feet.  But Autumn was fine, keeping her eyes closed form the dirt and rain swirling around.


Lesson learned? Nach dem verheerenden Brand in der Bäckerei Schäfer, am gestrigen Abend, steht die Welt in der kleinen Homburger Vorstadt jedoch still. Zu unfassbar und traurig ist das Geschehen und so sehr schmerzt jeder Blick auf eine der letzten Traditionsbäckereien in Homburg. Die Backstube, der Verkaufsbereich, die Wohnungen, Hab und Gut der Familie - einfach zerstört. Yuliya is truly one-of-a kind; she’s one of the most caring humans any of us have ever had the good fortune of meeting. With the kindest spirit, true thoughtfulness, a dark-ass sense of humor, and a contagious laugh, Yuliya shines, and we're all better for knowing her. Two years ago, she began a battle with breast cancer and she came out the other side with a grace and laugh that we've all admired. She would definitely argue that she was not graceful or joyful. But that's Yuli. With rounds and rounds of treatment, frustrations and complications, she fought. She was exasperated, but she fought. And then, she was in remission. <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/36469114_1548281876523120_r.jpeg" alt="36469114_1548281876523120_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /> And while it hasn't been easy for Yuliya since - the fear of relapse and endless doctor's appointments to remind her what she lived through - Yuliya grabbed her life by the horns. She seized the damn day. And we've celebrated alongside her. Or, we tried to. She still was late to her surprise 30th birthday and ended up surprising all of us when she showed up. Sadly, it is with absolute bravery that on Friday the 25th, Yuliya will begin treatment for cancer once again. Because of a variety of factors that further complicate her diagnosis, she will be going through rigorous clinical trials and we want to support her however we can. We may not be oncologists, but we sure can rally. Funds raised are for Yuli's discretion - medical expenses, the incidentals that come with treatment (specific diets, etc.) and anything she needs to make this challenge a bit more comfortable. All of you that know Sarah or, even if you don’t, please read on. To those of you who don’t here is a quick rundown. My husband TJ and I adopted Sarah sometime after her mother lost her battle with breast cancer. Janice, Sarah’s mother was a courageous, warm hearted, loving woman and I considered her one of my best friends. Her loss was our gain and we are so blessed to have gained another daughter. Funny how God woks in the way he does. A few months ago, Sarah was diagnosed with POTS. It stands for positional orthostatic tachycardic syndrome. In layman’s terms that means when someone with POTS stands up their heart races and they get very dizzy and can pass out. Most people with POTS go on to live a normal life and symptoms can be treated with a variety of medications, nutrition, and a specific exercise routine. Sarah unfortunately, has the worse most severe case of POTS her cardiologist has ever seen in his 30+ year career. Sarah cannot sit, she cannot stand or walk. She is completely bed ridden and despite all efforts of numerous weeks in the hospital, she has not responded to any medication treatments. She has no quality of life and cannot live without 24/7 medical care in a hospital setting. She is getting worse and the team of doctors here in Colorado have exhausted all recourses and do not know what else to do for her. Thankfully, the Mayo clinic feels they can help Sarah with further diagnostics that Colorado cannot and we are hoping and praying that their experts can find an answer to help Sarah’s condition improve. This however, comes with a price. There will be many medical expenses that will not be covered by insurance, travel fees for family that Sarah would like to be with her, etc etc etc etc…My main goal is to keep Sarah positive, push forward with whatever it takes to find an answer (we will never give up), and to keep her far away from any financial burden that this will incur. My husband and I can only do so much so, we are asking for your financial help and would be so grateful for any donations. A little bit goes a long way. We have a long road ahead of us but we will remain positive until we find an answer. I can assure you all that Sarah is in the best of hands, we love her as if she was ours from birth and, we will continue to love her for the rest of her life good, bad, or indifferent. I know many of you love her too! I will be posting updates on her condition as they come up so please check back in. I know all of you are wanting to send your best wishes and blessings to Sarah but, please do not try to contact her directly. Sarah Fighting for Relief

I am being strong today. I am asking for help. When I fell from my horse 13 years ago, I was training for Cross-Country, Circuit Jumping and Dressage in 2003, 2004 and 2005. I worked and practiced under the watchful eyes of two masters of dressage and was receiving great encouragement and training in Little Rock, Arkansas. That fateful day in October 2005, my life changed forever. While free riding with my daughter in a pasture, a flock of birds scared my horse and after falling I'd find myself being described as quadriplegic. I no longer had use of my arms or legs but I remained strong for my children and continue to stay strong now for my grandchildren. We went on to live as normally as we could. But life threw me another curve ball when I least expected it. Someone who had sworn vows and made promises to me and has always been there for me... suddenly wasn't, leaving me without support. We have fallen behind on the mortgage payments, so the bank would like to take away the house; they asked for the entire $90,000 but after speaking with them they now ask for $9000 by the end of December, and we continue with payments after that. I must face the fact that my home, my haven, my sanctuary is going to be taken away from me unless we can stop it. We are used to being able to take care of our own needs as a family, but right now we are adjusting to our new reality. That is why I am feeling strong today in asking for help to save my home. Without help I cannot pay my mortgage right now. I honestly do not know what I will do if the mortgage company forecloses on my home. I don’t have a fancy wheelchair or a handicap-accessible van. What I do have is a home that provides shelter for me and my children and their children. It feels like this is happening because someone decided that they dont care about me; that I dont matter. But I do matter, and I know that there are people who care. So I'm reaching out. Please help me continue to be strong through your gift, even $5 will help. Remember, there is strength in numbers. She was a victim of and campaigner for the rights of the Windrush Generation , who have been victims of the hostile immigration environment.  Find out more about Sarah's life <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/sep/19/windrush-victim-campaigner-sarah-oconnor-dies-aged-57">here</a> .  Her daughter Stephanie shared this with us: "I recently took her to the Lake District for a few days after all she had been through for a break and this was taken there. Despite all she had been through and how sometimes wanted to give up she still always found a reason to smile. She was so bubbly and the bravest woman I know. This is how I want to remember her. She always wanted to go back to Jamaica or on a holiday to Hawaii but as she couldn’t get a passport this dream unfortunately didn’t happen and by the time she could apply for one it was too late! I hate how I will never get to see her go abroad which is why I want to scatter her ashes in Jamaica or Hawaii. Somewhere hot, where she can rest in peace something that she couldn’t do in life. After everything she has done and been through she deserves that! I’m so proud of the woman she was and the people she touched. I will carry on the fight for her as I know she would want that." It is unjust for the government to expect a traumatised community to design a scheme caused by their own wrong doing. It is clear that a number of the victims of the Windrush Scandal are worried that the government has no intention to meet the principles of restorative justice recognised by UK and international law. Sadly Theresa May and Sajid Javid instead wants to create a pound shop compensation scheme which will not reflect the emotional and financial lost caused by the hostile environment and further undermine the value and contribution  particularly of British people of Caribbean heritage.   Thus, I have launched a new petition which I hope all parliamentarians across all the political parties will advocate again for the Windrush Generation and their children to get the compensation scheme they deserve, otherwise there will be numerous legal actions in the courts which the tax payer and the victims of this major tragedy will loss out with additional suffering and trauma. Let's do this for Sarah O'Connor, Dexter Bristol, those who were deported illegally  by the government and died in the Caribbean and every one who has been affected by the hostile immigration environment.
