How Tourism Can End Poverty, The Future of Tourism: Building a Retirement Home on Our Farm in El Salvador We’re not just building homes. We’re building the future of tourism — one that uplifts communities instead of pricing them out. When economies grow, too often the poorest are pushed out of their own neighborhoods. They can’t afford rent, food, or medicine. We want to flip that model — to make tourism work for them. Imagine this model: You rent a home or stay at our regenerative farm in El Salvador. And that rent directly provides food, medicine, a home, and comfort for the elderly who live beneath you. That’s what we’re building — a retirement home and social enterprise on our MurphsLife farm, scheduled for completion in 2026. ⸻ The Vision: This will be a peaceful, purpose-driven space where the elderly can live with dignity, cared for by the same community they helped raise. It will also serve as a sustainable tourism model — creating a micro-economy that empowers locals instead of displacing them. Your support will fund: • Construction and land development on our regenerative farm • Furniture, medical equipment, and supplies • ‍ Salaries for local workers — fair wages that strengthen the local economy • Programs for food security, healthcare, and community engagement ⸻ How You Can Help 1. Donate at here, or at MurphsLifeFoundation.com. 2. Share our video → How to Take a Village Out of Poverty – El Salvador. 3. Be part of the movement to redefine how tourism and community care coexist. ⸻ This is how we take a village out of poverty — not by giving handouts, but by creating opportunity. Because when tourism feeds compassion instead of consumption, everybody wins. ❤️ #MurphsLife #ElSalvador #FutureOfTourism #SocialImpact #RegenerativeDevelopment #CommunityInAction #HopeInAction https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljPz2KF08RA&t=526s About MurphsLife Foundation: MurphsLife is a nonprofit Foundation that receives donations to provide aid and resources to those who need it most in developing economies, helping impoverished families in need of food, shelter, and employment, with the goal of empowering them to become self-sufficient. Build a safe home with an Airbnb upstairs—so this family can stand on its own, forever. ⸻ A mother’s courage. Two boys’ new beginning. In the mountains of El Salvador, two young brothers were left behind when their parents—caught in gang life—were imprisoned. With no one to care for them, their future was uncertain. Then, a nearby mother stepped up. Already raising her own children with very little, she opened her heart and took the boys in as her own. Now, this family is struggling in a fragile shack on the edge of our MurphsLife farm. The walls are crumbling, there’s no safe space for the children, and their future is limited by poverty. The plan: With your help, MurphsLife will replace their shack with a solid, safe brick home and build an Airbnb apartment above it. The family will live downstairs; the upstairs will generate steady rental income from visitors to the farm. This model provides shelter + livelihood, ensuring the family not only survives but thrives. This is part of our larger program to replace all the shacks surrounding our farm with “Home-Plus-Airbnb” builds — where families gain safety, stable income, and job opportunities working in regenerative farming and community development. It’s the “teach-a-family-to-fish” approach, rooted in dignity and long-term empowerment. ⸻ Estimated Budget (per home build) Category Estimated Cost (USD) Notes Foundation, Structure & Materials $16,000 Brickwork, roof, windows, doors, flooring Labor & Skilled Trades $10,000 Local contractor + fair wages for builders Utilities & Permits $4,000 Electrical, water/sewage hookups, permits Airbnb Unit Build-Out $11,000 Independent entrance, plumbing, finishes Furniture & Appliances $4,000 Beds, kitchen setup, basic furnishings Contingency (10%) $5,000 Covers price fluctuations, overruns Total: $50,000 ⸻ Your Impact • $25 → Contributes bricks and building materials • $100 → Doors, windows, and safety features • $250 → Helps furnish the home • $500 → Supports the Airbnb build-out • $1,000+ → Family Builder Sponsor (foundation + long-term income) MurphsLife documents every stage — from breaking ground to move-in day, to the family welcoming their first Airbnb guests. ⸻ Why This Matters: This is more than a house. It’s a future. • Safety & Shelter: A stable home for a mom and her children, including two orphaned boys. • Income for Life: Airbnb unit provides ongoing income to pay for food, school, and healthcare. • Community Model: This project is one of many — building a new blueprint for poverty alleviation. Stretch Goals $75,000 — Power & Water Upgrade: solar starter (2–3 kW), grey/blackwater biodigester or reed-bed, drainage/site works, linens/cleaning kit, pro listing photos, host training. $150,000 — Cluster Impact: (A) build a second Home-Plus-Airbnb for another family or (B) complete core permaculture-campus pieces (teaching kitchen/classroom, water systems, access/drainage) that support the whole neighborhood. Together, we can lift this family permanently out of poverty. She Gave Me Her Last Two Eggs… Let’s Give Johanna a Home Juanita (Johanna) gave me the only food she had—two eggs—without hesitation. She lives in a shack held together by plastic and rusted tin, yet her heart is pure kindness. Together, we can give her what she’s never had: a safe home, dignity, and a future. Meet Johanna Johanna is a 67-year-old grandmother living alone in El Salvador. Her “house” is collapsing—plastic walls, rotting wood, a roof that lifts off when storms come. When it rains, her floor floods. And yet… when I told her I was hungry, she invited me in and cooked me the only food she had left. She even said if I didn’t have a place to sleep, I could take her bed while she slept on the floor. That’s Johanna. Pure kindness. A true earth angel. No one this selfless should live in squalor. Our Goal At first, we thought we’d build Jaunita (Johanna) a very basic home. But because so many people want to help, we’re doing this right—so she never has to worry again. Here’s the plan: A solid brick home (storm-resistant and long-lasting) Furniture for comfort and dignity A bathroom with proper plumbing and permits (her first ever) Protective fence and retaining wall for safety and stability A micro-business shop built into her home so she can sell rice, beans, and local goods to her neighbors Fair labor — supporting local workers who help build these homes Cost Breakdown (Transparency) Brick home + roof + retaining wall: $14,000 Bathroom + plumbing & permits: $3,000+ Furniture & essentials: $4,000 Small business shop: $6,000 Additional labor allocation: $3,000 Dental Work: $500-$1,000 Total Goal: $31,500 Anything raised after initial amount will go towards further improvements to Johanna’s home, micro-business and future projects like Johanna.  We’ve already allocated a few thousand dollars from general donations, but we need your help to reach the full $15,000 goal to change Johanna’s life forever. ❤️ Every dollar goes directly into Johanna’s new life. Why This Matters Juanita didn’t know us. She had no reason to share her food. Yet with the little she had, she gave it freely. That kind of love deserves to be honored. This isn’t just about one woman—it’s about showing the world that compassion, multiplied by community, can change lives. Together, we’ve already built 300+ homes, launched schools, and lifted thousands of families out of poverty. Johanna’s story is the next miracle. How You Can Help ✨ Donate whatever you can. Even $5 makes a difference. Share Johanna’s story so others can join us. Know that your gift will be felt directly in Johanna’s life—and we’ll show you every step of the journey. A Thank-You From Us (and Johanna) When Juanita walks into her safe new home, when she opens her little shop, when she no longer worries about storms or hunger—it will be because of you. She gave us her last two eggs. Now, together, we’re giving her safety, dignity, and hope. Donate & share today & be part of Johanna’s miracle. Help Build a Greenhouse Storage Unit for Our Community Farm in El Salvador Why We Need Your Help: Our MurphsLife community farm in Juayúa, El Salvador, has become a living example of regenerative agriculture, food security, and dignified employment. Every day, we’re growing more than just crops—we’re growing sustainability, and opportunity. But we have one urgent need: a proper storage unit for our greenhouse and farming operations. Currently, tools, organic fertilizers, seeds, and other essential materials are exposed to the elements or stored in makeshift conditions. This not only puts supplies at risk but also slows down the incredible momentum we’ve built with our team and volunteers. With your support, we can build a secure, weather-resistant greenhouse storage unit to protect our farm’s most important resources and help us serve more families with fresh, organic food. What the Funds Will Cover Your donation will go directly toward: • Construction materials: wood, tin roofing, secure locking doors, and ventilation. • ️Labor costs: fair wages for local builders and MurphsLife team members. • Storage infrastructure: durable shelving, bins, tool racks, and seed safes. • Sustainability upgrades: drainage systems and weatherproofing for year-round use. Total Estimated Budget: $6,500 ⸻ Why It Matters This greenhouse storage unit is more than just a building. It’s a critical piece of our mission to: • Create sustainable livelihoods through agriculture. • Teach regenerative farming to local communities and visiting volunteers. • Preserve seeds and tools so we can scale operations and maximize crop yields. • Build food independence for rural families in need. Every shovel, every seed, and every harvest begins with proper care and protection—and that starts with safe storage. ⸻ ‍ Real Lives Impacted Every donation supports people like Jose and Maria, a local couple who now work full-time on the farm after previously struggling to put food on the table. Your contribution empowers them—and others like them—to thrive through purpose-driven work. ⸻ Join the Movement We believe in transparency and showing you exactly where your support goes. Once this storage unit is built, we’ll share videos and photos so you can witness the transformation you helped make possible. Whether you give $5 or $500, your impact will last for years. ➡️ Click “Donate” to help us build the greenhouse storage unit today.
