Kara has been diagnosed with a venous aneurysm, a condition that poses significant challenges due to its anatomical location. As surgery is considered a last resort due to the high risks involved, her only available treatment option is radiation therapy aimed at reducing the size of the malformative vascular structure.

<div>Currently, Kara is restricted from driving due to the potential for seizures and is limited to lifting no more than a gallon of milk, a restriction giving her responsibilities as a mother of three very hard. Compounding their difficulties, Kevin requires immediate back surgery, which similarly limits his capacity to drive and lift. Both are currently unable to work, which places immense financial strain on the family, especially as they require comprehensive recovery to care for their children.

Amanda didn't make it, and the girls are all in ICU and require surgery. This family needs your support. This man just lost his wife and is terrified he may still lose his babies. To ease the financial burden of all of this, I wanted to start this GFM. Please please please find it in your heart to give. This is DEVASTATING!

This Family NEEDS your help!

It’s with great humility that I come to you all in seek of help. For those of you who might not already know.  Catie has been overcome by a very unfortunate series of circumstances.  <br /> <br />Where to begin. On Monday June 25th Catie went to the ER with some sharp pains to her abdomen. The Doctor recommended she have an ultra sound, CT scan and some blood work done. Through his findings he realized that Catie had some gall stones and that was the reasoning behind her sharp pains. The Doctor then advised us to reach out to our PCP for a secondary opinion.   After visiting our Family Physician he told us what we already pretty much suspected. That Catie would need to get her gall bladder removed. <br /><br />Our Doctor referred us to a surgeon for the gall bladder removal procedure. The Surgeon went in and removed Catie’s gall bladder on Thursday June 28th. From what he explained to us, the procedure was a very minimally invasive surgery. She was in and out on that same day. <br /><br />Everything seemed fine the next day. Just the post surgery pains and aches that were expected. Saturday June 30th is when the real nightmare started. Early that morning Catie started having some indescribable pain in her abdomen once again. Such incredible pain that it brought her to her knees. And for those of you that know Catie well, you know that she is hands down one of the strongest women I know. We once again ended up at the ER at Harris Methodist of Richardson. Where the Doctor on duty went ahead and admitted Catie for further evaluation.  After yet again another CT scan. The Doctors found out that she had an obstruction in her bile duct below her liver and next to where her gall bladder once lived. Whether or not the stones made their way to her bile duct as a result of the gall bladder removal or not is yet to be seen. Regardless, Catie now had bile backing it’s way back in to her liver and causing incredible pain once again. At this point they began to poke and prod Catie in every way imaginable to administer fluids, antibiotics and pain medication. <br /><br />They scheduled Catie to have another surgery for Monday July 2nd.  A surgery to apparently clear the stones in her bile duct. Unfortunately a side effect from the dye administered to locate the stones was the possibility of developing Pancreatitis. The Doctor assured us that there was really  only a 10% chance of Catie developing Pancreatitis, so we seemed optimistic. As luck may have it, on Tuesday July 3rd Catie’s pancreas began to become enflamed. The Doctor said he would keep a close eye on her progress and that if she did not show any improvement that they would have to explore other alternatives. <br /><br />The 4th of July. Well Catie started feeling better that day. Levels in the pancreas started decreasing and the pain started to secede. Everything was on the up and up and we felt as though there was a light at the end of the tunnel. We even snuck up to to 4th floor to see if we could catch the fireworks in the distance. <br /><br />Later in the early hours of Thursday the 5th. Catie began to have excruciating pain once again which lasted between 2-6 in the morning. The nurses called the Doctor to inform him of the situation. He said another CT scan was imminent. Catie went in for now her 3rd CT scan around 2 o’clock only to find out that there was some sort of bile leaking from somewhere and an abscess as well. They did a HIDA scan on Friday the 6th to try to find the leak. They found the leak in her bile duct and had to go in for yet again another surgery around 5 o’clock. A stent was implanted to redirect the bile to her intestine. <br /><br />Lastly, Catie will most likely be requiring a 4th and final surgery to wash up all the bile that leaked into her system.  With fingers crossed hopefully this will be the end of this nightmare. However now we deal with the aftermath of all this. Which is the ridiculous amount of bills for all these procedures and over a weeks stay at the hospital. All this coming only 3 months after the birth of our son. So I come to you all in search of help for our family.  Any little bit helps. Thank you

Catie’s Medical Bills

<img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/30764366_1529608522821982_r.jpeg" alt="30764366_1529608522821982_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" />Kirk Broussard was at a local casino in the Las Vegas area early in the morning of May 26th, 2018  when he sustained a traumatic brain injury while there. <br /><br />When he was found, he was semiconscious in one of the restrooms.<br /><br />After being walked out of the restroom, casino staff members realized that an ambulance needed to be called because of the traumatic head injuries that Kirk had sustained.<br /><br />After being admitted to the hospital, one of the doctors in the ICU believed that Kirk’s injuries were consistent with being assaulted. <br /><br />Consider that Kirk does not drink or use drugs and that he has never had a medical emergency that would have caused him to fall on his own.<br /><br />The end result is that Kirk sustained a traumatic brain injury called a Subdural Hematoma with multiple skull fractures (3). He was in an Intensive Care Unit for seven full days and in a regular hospital room  for three days. During the time he was in ICU, he required a breathing machine for 4 days to even stay alive and was completely unconscious for five+ days.<br /><br />When he was finally released after nine days in the hospital, he has had to have 24/7 supervision because he lives alone. Otherwise, he would have been admitted to a rehabilitation center.<br /><br />So, as you can imagine, Kirk has suffered greatly physically, psychologically and financially. <br /><br />Physically, he has sustained major injuries to his face and skull.<br /><br /> Financially, he has suffered and will continue to over most likely many months. For example, Kirk is unable to work and, because of the type of work he does, he does not get paid unless he is working. More importantly, Kirk's hospital stay, medical staff care at the hospital and ongoing medical treatment is estimated to exceed $100,000. While Kirk does have health insurance, deductibles and co-pays will be in the tens of thousands of dollars.<br /><br />Kirk's co-workers and managers have been wonderfully supportive of him, chipping in money to help and assuring him that he will have his job whenever he can return to work.<br /><br />What I am asking for, from those of you able and willing to help, is to donate to help Kirk cover living and medical expenses until he is back on his feet<br /><br />As you consider a donation, imagine being healthy and fully functioning, both physically and mentally, one minute and then five days later you wake up to horrible injuries , through no fault of your own. <br /><br />More importantly, think about Kirk's recovery from his brain injury: forgetting things, struggling to finish simple sentences, worrying every day that his recovery so far is all he will get to and wondering if he will make a full and complete recovery.<br /><br />As his dad, I have been with Kirk throughout his hospital stay and virtually every waking moment since and it has been heartbreaking to watch. <br /><br />Obviously, we are thankful as Kirk gets better but no one can tell us how complete his recovery will be.<br /><br />Over these next few months, it would be wonderful if Kirk only had to worry about his recovery and not about how he will be able to pay for the many living and medical expenses coming his way.<br /><br />Thank you, in advance, for considering a donation to this fund.<br /><br />Also, feel free to share this campaign link with anyone in your network or contacts in your social media who might be interested in reading this. <br /><br />Of course, all donations go directly to Kirk.
