My name is Timothy Childess,<br />My wife, along with my step daughter and two freinds <br />were traveling from Portland OR to MN to the Shangri-La Festival, when the back tire needed to be replaced on the mini van that they were driving which drained most of the finances saved for this trip, and soon after the van started to shake. My wife pulled in to a shop and was told that the rack and pinion need repairing. This is a cost of at 1066.00 dollars. My wife is now stranded in MN with enough money for gas and food to get home but no way to pay for the repairs needed to get there.<br />She can camp for three days, after that she has no where to go. Please give If you can. Any and all funds will be most welcomed, we need your help to get my wife and step daughter back home safe. I've been working on a daily basis with the campers there, identifying their needs and demands, and with city officials, communicating these demands and working to find sustainable solutions. Over the past three weeks, the city has made a 180 degree turn, from insisting it was going to sweep to agreeing not to sweep and to provide some basic sanitation services to the diverse community of people sheltering there. But the Oregon Department of Transportation and the Union Pacific railroad, both of which own parts of the property there, have issued renewed sweep threats to campers this week. The people camping here need help - from advocacy to food. Your contribution will go entirely toward this effort, either in the form of buying urgently needed supplies, paying for gas used to move people facing sweeps to more stable and safe places, or addressing whatever urgent need may arise as I and other community members try to help in a rapidly changing context.
