On the morning of July 7, 2026, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was taken from the people who loved him most. He was 52 years old. He was a husband, a father of three sons, a small business owner, and the heart of his family. This fund exists to carry his family through the impossible days ahead, and to let them grieve without the added weight of how they will get by.

Lorenzo built his life the honest way: with early mornings, long hours, and his own two hands. He ran his own construction business, building, with real work and real skill, the kind of life he wanted for his family. He was known for his work ethic, his fairness, and his willingness to help anyone who needed it. When people describe him, the first words are always the same, hardworking, dependable, kind. He was the kind of man who showed up: for his family, for his friends, for his neighbors, and on every job he ever took.

At the center of his world was his wife. Lorenzo and wife met when they were just teenagers and had been together ever since, building a life, a home, and a family side by side over 35 years in the United States together. Theirs was the kind of partnership people hope for their whole lives. Now his wife faces a future she never imagined, without the person she has loved since she was young.

Above everything, Lorenzo was a devoted father to his three sons. He worked as hard as he did so that his boys could have more than he had, so that their futures could be brighter than his own beginnings. Everything he built, he built for them. Now three young men must go forward without their father, and their mother must find a way to hold their family together.

The funds raised here will go directly to his wife and their three sons to help with funeral and burial costs, legal expenses, everyday living costs, and the wife’s needs, who has lost her lifelong companion and sole provider. No amount is too small, and every share helps this reach more people who can stand with them.

If you can give, please give. If you cannot, please share this page and keep Lorenzo’s family in your thoughts and prayers. In a moment of unbearable loss, your kindness tells this family they are not alone.

Please, say his name. Lorenzo Salgado Araujo. And help us hold his wife and his three sons up when they cannot stand on their own.

With gratitude,

Digital Projectors have about a 15-year lifespan. Ours were purchased 13.5 years ago. They almost made it.

After a slow summer season, during the opening weekend of what promised to be the biggest film of the year, a make-or-break weekend for us after many months of struggle, our oldest digital projector went dark in the Rose Theatre.

We've met our first goal and installed new servers on two of our projectors, but we've still got a long way to go. Servers are just one small component of our projection system and since our digital projectors are no longer being made our entire fleet of projectors will need to be replaced in full. New projectors will cost over $150,000.

Cinemas everywhere have been battered by streaming, COVID shutdowns, and the actors/writers strike. Historic arthouse and independent theatres have taken the worst of it, and many, across the nation, have closed their doors forever.

We can’t imagine Port Townsend without the Rose Theatre, and we don’t want to. Our family purchased the Rose in 2023, investing our life savings into the beating heart of our community. We’ve dedicated our lives to running a business that brings people of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds together, generously shares love and laughter, embraces inclusive and diverse viewpoints, and empowers us through play and storytelling.

The Rose Theatre spent decades in the dark, hidden away as a junk shop before being restored in 1992. We’ll do everything to keep that from happening again, and we know we’re not alone.

What can I do?

By making a donation on GoFundMe, you can be assured that your gift goes directly toward the purchase of servers and projectors, and any additional funds will be used to ensure the Rose Theatre will be endowed to serve our community for generations to come.

The most important thing you can do is come to the movies! We play family-friendly movies, blockbusters, rare historic gems and cinema classics, impactful arthouse and independent films you are unlikely to see anywhere else.

If you currently come once a year, why not come once a month? Do you come once a month? Coming once a week. Bring family, friends, neighbors and host a weekly movie club. Stretch your imagination, and your mind, by purchasing an ARTHOUSE film punch card.

The Rose Theatre Needs You

You may remember my mom got cancer a few years back and was in remission for almost 2 years!

Unfortunately, the cancer is back, fairly aggressive, and is requiring intensive treatment. So far she's been hospitalized three times, has had two surgeries, has undergone radiation, and is in the process of a chemo and immunotherapy mix.

Life is expensive. Life with cancer is absurdly expensive.

Donations help offset the costs of transportation for my mom &/or me to important medical appointments, dog care for when we are not there (my mom is too weak to walk boo), basic self-care help (being able to hire someone occasionally to help with household tasks when family members are unavailable due to their own schedules), & the other myriad of unforeseen costs that arise with navigating cancer and the medical system.

Anything is appreciated and helps in ways you can't imagine (or maybe you can - I'm sorry if you've been here!)

On August 19th, Members of BCTGM Local 1 in Chicago, IL went on strike against Nabisco. While on strike these workers did not receive
any pay. The strike ended September 18, 2021. I would like to thank everyone for all their help and donations.
My name is Donald Woods I'm the organizer of the gofundme account and President of Local Union No. 1. The monies will be shared
among the actual strikers that were on the picket lines to help them out during that difficult time and pay for equipment such as porta
potties. I will be paying out the money in the form of checks or gift cards and will be mailed to the strikers or they can pick it up.

If they do, they will not resuscitate in the event of heart failure. Doctors rejected the family's idea for a lung transplant because they don't think he would survive the surgery. His family (and all of us) disagree with the decision to end his life-support, but according to the hospital, they don't need their permission. In general, they are concerned with "patient comfort and dignity".

While I am speaking for myself, I am confident that I can also speak for anyone that knows him. Nelson has not only been one of the best family members/friends we have, but also one of the best people we know. He is kind, fun, honest, caring, generous, selfless, funny, supportive, and so much more. He is heroic. He is a survivor. He is ALIVE and fighting for his life and he needs all of our help. You can watch the WUSA 9 news story about our fun-loving, big-smiling, live life to the fullest, Nelson Garcia Orellana, here.

Nelson is STRONG.

In May of this year, Nelson saved his foster grandmother from their burning home as flames and smoke tore through their house. He went back for his great-uncle who was still inside, but the smoke was too much for him, and sadly, ultimately too late for his great-uncle.

Nelson is HEROIC.

Four months later in September, Nelson contracted Covid-19. He quarantined for two weeks and was later admitted to the hospital because he was having trouble breathing. The first hospital was not equipped to care for him, and he was transferred to Washington Hospital Center (WHC) in DC. There, he was connected to an ECMO machine to help his lung function (the ECMO machine is pumping blood from his body to an artificial lung (oxygenator) that adds oxygen to it and removes carbon dioxide, essentially replacing his lungs). He's had pneumonia multiple times, kidney failure, and infections from the ECMO machine. While he has been heavily sedated at times, he has also been responsive. He opened his eyes when he heard his foster mother call his name during a recent video call, and responded to "yes/no" questions asked by his brother by squeezing his hand.

Nelson is a FIGHTER.

His family is searching for a hospital that will provide the lung transplant and a lawyer to work with them because they, we all believe he deserves better. The best care. To keep living. He deserves a chance at more than 36 short years of life.

Nelson is ALIVE.

What can we do?

Donate and share this fundraiser. Please, take the time to help his family provide the care and attention he deserves. If you know of any additional resources (people, information, money, etc.), let us know. If you know an attorney that might be able to help, reach out. Ideas on how to peacefully protest/reverse this decision? Same thing. If you pray, please continue to do so and keep the faith.

Nothing is impossible.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Justice for Nelson

On December 24th, Tyler had suffered from a serious accident and fractured his neck. We are so pleased to share that he is awake, talking, alert and recovering at a hospital in Seattle. Unfortunately, his injury has resulted in damage to his spinal cord, and affects will not be known for some time. We have had some positive progress on his condition – he is feeling tingling in his hands and can move his arms which is a great sign. We all know that Tyler is a strong and determined young man, and he will give 1000% to his rehabilitation in the coming months.

The road ahead may be long and there are many unknowns. One thing we know for sure is that we all want Tyler to have the very best care. With that, this GoFundMe has been set up for Tyler so that those who wish to support him financially may do so.

Funds from this campaign will be used for medical expenses, equipment, possible house modifications, etc.

For the most recent updates on Tyler's Progress - Click Here

Thank you for continuing to send your well wishes, your thoughts and your prayers for Tyler and his family. They are felt and heard. The family deeply appreciates all of your love and support.

We’ve been waiting on our unemployment for months. Caught up in red tape. I’ve been kicked out of my house, I owe months of back rent, and have various other bills that have been stacking up. We started this process in March...my job got shut down with a few days warning. Wasn’t prepared for months of this. I’m sleeping on my dad’s couch in NY so I have a roof. But he doesn’t have much money so I still need to be able to feed myself and try to pay back what I owe. Anything helps. Your charity is greatly appreciated

My name is Maria and I’m a 20-year-old undocumented student living in the United States. Growing up in South Florida I was able to graduate high school with a 3.8 GPA and a Medical Assistant Certification from the school’s technical college.

Last year, I was given the opportunity to attend Florida Atlantic University where I am pursuing the education of my dreams. Additionally, I was granted an internship opportunity tutoring children in STEM related fields. At their Wilkes Honors College, I am studying to complete a degree in Biological Anthropology with a Pre-Med track.

I have lived in the United States for the past 15 years. When I was five-years-old, my parents made the life-changing decision to flee Venezuela to provide me with greater opportunities and a shot at a better life. Since then, my parents and I have resided in Florida, where I work and study with hopes that we could reach the “American Dream.”

As a family, we have learned to cherish all the opportunities this country has given us, including expanding our family — my little brother was born here and is a U.S. Citizen.

Unfortunately, the biggest obstacle we’ve all had to live with is the path to obtaining legal residency causing us to run the risk of deportation under Donald Trump’s cruel immigration policies.

Even worse, because of my lack of status — no, I am not a beneficiary of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program — is making my journey through the higher education system particularly challenging.

Due to my status, I am ineligible for federal or state financial assistance, leaving the cost of attending Florida Atlantic squarely on my shoulders. My parents have been struggling after having to routinely change jobs given the coronavirus outbreak in Florida, adding even more pressure for me to come up with the funds to cover the cost of each semester.

I have been able to develop a plan that will decrease the cost of tuition moving on including a cheaper meal plan and housing. However, I wake up every day with the constant fear that I will not be able to return should I be unable to pay.

Even though I only spent one semester at the Wilkes Honors College, it was enough to completely change my outlook on many concepts in life and make me feel welcomed by the sense of community/communication the professors provide.

My ultimate goal is to continue my education into Med school and become an Infectious Disease Specialist working directly with the World Health Organization while also advocating for an increase in healthcare resources in countries/areas and minority groups who are lacking such assistance.

From the bottom of my heart I am asking for your assistance in helping me achieve this goal by the start of the Fall 2020 semester with any donation you are willing to give.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We live in Nashville, TN on 7 acres close to my Mom and my sister and her family.
I'm not one who likes to ask for money. So for me to do this doesn't make me very comfortable but we need help.
We were preparing to get ready to search and adopt a little girl to join our family when in October 2018 my wife, at 33 years old was diagnosed with stage 3 ER-positive breast cancer. In this last year she has fought this holistically, we have been to many breast surgeons and Oncologists to find the right fit. She has had surgery to remove her ovaries to stop more estrogen in hopes of shrinking the tumor. She is now on hormone inhibitors with a plan her Oncologist believes is the best route for shrinking the tumors so that a mastectomy is possible to finally get rid of this monster that's come into our lives over this last year. These hormone treatments are not cheap compared to chemo. Her Doctor said that Chemo would only have about a 10% chance of working on these types of tumors and these hormone treatments have a higher chance of shrinking them.
With all of that said her Oncologist and Breast surgeon have been working as a team. They are based in Knoxville and we're in Nashville. The trips to Knoxville obviously cost us each visit we have to go. She has had various MRI's, CT scans, blood work, etc. I have insurance through my job but it is a high deductible plan. I was able to keep up with these bills up until 6 months ago they're just piling up. She's due for another MRI this month to check on the progress and see if the current treatment is working. It seems like each day a new bill comes in from somewhere from someone for something. It's just too much. I am really praying this fund raising can help us.
Aly's Cancer Treatment Expenses
On Saturday, May 25, 2019 around 10:30pm our 3 bedroom trailer home was directly hit by an E-F3 deadly tornado. Myself (Preston Black), my wife Lena Black, 5 of our 6 children & my parents were inside when it hit us. We lost everything we own. Our home was completely obliterated by the tornado. Everyone was injured, my wife & I sustained very serious injuries. I have 4 broken ribs, a collapsed lung, a shoulder fracture & collar bone dislocation. My wife has 9 broken ribs, a fractured shoulder, a fractured pelvis & a broken collarbone. We are both hospitalized @ OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
I am raising funds for my family because we have nowhere to live now, no vehicle as it was totaled from the tornado winds. We have to basically start over which would be impossible due to me & my wife's injuries so we are unable to work. Funds for medical bills will also be needed. I thank each and everyone who can donate something to helping my family of 8 start over from this disaster.
