Queer Community Cares

Hello family ~ My best friend is in need of help- they are a queer 26yr old (they/she) musician & currently in an unsafe domestic living situation with their dad. They live in Colorado at their dad’s house & have lived there since May of this year. They moved into his house for the summer to try & grow the relationship they have with their dad, after the passing of their mom a few years ago due to dementia. Their father has Narcissism Personality Disorder & they are used to the pattern of episodes that it entails. But — he has recently become physically violent. Which as we all know, is NOT safe whatsoever. They finally reached out to me for help. So I am reaching out here. These are the things they need ASAP to leave & where the money raised will directly go: New housing: they have been researching housing & have found a couple temporary options for around $1,000 (+$1,000 deposit) — so $2,000 total needed for move in (I am also contacting some friends to see if anyone knows someone in CO to immediately house them for the next couple of weeks) Mechanic work: they need new ball joints & brakes on their car for safety of driving (they have been able to walk most places local to them now, but will need their car for moving their stuff & driving into the city to new housing) — estimates for ball joints & brakes $1,200 I’m sure there are many more things like bills, food, gas, etc. but these are the main things they asked about. They are the kindest, most gentle, caring soul I know & I am confident in the power of the LGBTQIA+ community & our beautiful allies to lift them up & get them the help they need. They are a sober, grounded, mental health advocate & it breaks my heart to see them hurting. **also I am not sharing their name out of protection & safety for them, thank you**
