The big problem is that no new batteries are being made and the only alternative available are batteries made from used batteries that are already old. <strong>We want to build a brand new battery that will allow our Volts to keep going for years!</strong> I started a group called "The Open Source Chevy Volt Project" years ago when I realized that these batteries would be going bad soon and we would need an alternative battery that would replace the unavailable original battery from GM at a cost that makes it affordable to replace the battery for anyone that would want to keep these cars going!

New Life for Chevy Volt: Support Our Cause

<p>Hi Everyone I would like your support in obtaining a Chevy Bolt battery to integrate the cells into the Chevy Volt to increase power and range. First I need to obtain the Bolt battery and measure the dimensions of the cells. Then I need to see how many modules fit in the Volts battery housing if possible, worse case scenario all cells gets put in the back seat and trunk area. This isn't my first time adding additional battery capacity in the Volt. I have previously added an entire second Volt battery in the rear and wired it up to the HV system. I was able to get around 17kwh per charge. Since the Bolt battery is 3-4 times more energy then the Volts I expect at least minimum reach 80miles of range or more. I will post project updates as usual if successfully funded.

She never shows up empty handed, always bringing a thoughtful gift or reminder of how much she loves others. Over her career, Jenny worked as a Home Health and Hospice nurse for other hospitals. Hi, <br /><br />I am Zaviona woodruff and I live in Kalamazoo Michigan. Here in Kalamazoo we have an opportunity called the Kalamazoo Promise. It gives students that live in the kalamazoo public schools district to have their tuition completely, or partially, paid off. The school the students chose has to be in Michigan and be a recipient of the Kalamazoo Promise. Today, i learned that i will not be reviving the Promise money. One of the requirements is that you have to live in district. But that didn't work correctly for my family and I.<br /><br /><br />        My dad is a single father to my two younger sisters and me. He never graduated high school; in fact he went to Loy Norrix and dropped out but went back for his GED. He did not go to college but has always stresses the importance of it. He has jumped from job to job trying to make a safe, stable home for us  though sometimes we have hardly enough to get by. While we have always had a roof above our heads,sometimes my dad just didn't have enough for much else. College, always his dream for us, is going to be something I will have to find a way to pay for myself. <br /><br /><br />         In the middle of my 10th grade year, my family and I lived in a homeless shelter after we were  evicted from our home. At the homeless shelter we were, thankfully, still in the KPS District and had a bus to and from school. We spent about 2-4 months at the homeless shelter. We even spent Christmas there. Stay at the shelter was an experience that has taught me that people can not take for granted the possessions that they have. I had to share a room with my father and two little sisters. Imagine-if you have siblings- sharing a room with them and your parents. There we two bathrooms one upstairs one downstairs. These bathrooms were shared with everyone in the shelter. After a certain time you had to in your room, lights off really. No more roaming around or getting cold water from the refrigerator. <br /><br />          After staying in the shelter for those months, my dad found an apartment complex called Big Bend. He applied for a  three bedroom, two bathroom apartment for the four of us. The leasing agent employee there assured my dad that the apartment complex was indeed in the KPS district. They lied. Big Bend is not in the Kalamazoo Public Schools District; these apartments  are in the Comstock District. Imagine our disbelief and disappointment when we were denied a bus to and from school and were told at registration for enrollment in KPS that we lived in the Comstock District. That was my Junior year and I knew that at that point I would be losing the one thing that was going to help me get through college: the Kalamazoo Promise.<br /><br /><br />Even though my family was lied to, that i continued to go to KPS, that I continued to bust my ass in school I don't get any money to help with college. I was planning on attending Oakland University this coming fall but I don't know anymore. Taking out loans could hurt me more than help me. I just wanted to share this with someone. Anyone who could help. I have so many teachers backing me up, some many people who would give recommendations. I don't know what to do.

Paying for College

Hi all! My name is Joshua Alsup and I am a high school math teacher in Columbus GA! For as long as I can remember (even back to 2nd grade!) I have had severe vision problems. I was finally given a set of glasses in the 5th grade, and ever since then I've had to have the prescription updated yearly (for reference, I'm 28 now. That's a long time!).<br /><br />Wellp, as luck would have it the most recent visit spurred some bad news. I was told that my vision is deteriorating at a rapid rate, and that I would need surgery to correct it. Even after surgery, it is possible my eye sight could deteriorate from there. The doctor did not have an explanation for it, other than "it needs to get done within the next couple of years." I've been trying to put money aside since then, but I am in dire need of help.<br /><br />**EDIT: As of 2/13/18, according to Dr. J Brooks at West GA Eye Care Center, the information I received at my last visit is not accurate. While my vision is truly poor (-10.75 in the left eye, -10.13 in the right eye) my vision is stable given my situation and I do not suffer from any disease in my eyes. This contradicts my previous information given to me that I had to the best of my knowledge. I am, however, still moving forward with trying to get treatment.**<br /><br />This is where I am asking you to step in and help out. I am completely aware that this seems selfish. I've investigated my insurance policies and the only thing they will cover (through a VSP plan and my BCBS) is a 15% discount on an included treatment center, or 5% off of any "discount program." I'm not looking for discount programs; I'm looking for as best of treatment that I can get in my region. It was determined that I am not a candidate for LASIK or PRK. <br /><br />EDIT: It is officially going to cost me $10,000.00 I uploaded the payment form in an Update on the page. :)<br /><br />As I move through the plan to get corrective surgery, I will be constantly updating this page and profile. Everything from doctor visits, to treatment center, before and after. All of it. I also plan on having several videos uploaded soon to demonstrate just how rough of a scenario this is.<br /><br />The funds are due at the time of surgery, so while I plan on taking debt to make the surgery happen, I'm hoping to crowdfund as much of it as possible. The target date for corrective surgery is June 2018 (right after school ends for the year!).<br /><br />Even if you are unable to help me with a donation, simply sharing my story will dramatically increase my chances of reaching someone who can. With these accounts put together our situation has become too large for us to handle on our own.  Now, we need your help.</strong><br /><br /> We need help paying off Legal Fees, which have amounted up to $77,000, to fight the lawsuit that had been filed against us.  The suit was filed by members of our neighborhood and the suit has cost us a great amount financially, and emotionally.  Sadly, this lawsuit has costs us our entire life savings, and even now after winning our case we may still have no choice but to leave our home behind. <br /><br />We are happy to announce that the trial is complete and the judge has returned a ruling in our favor. The first sentence of the judge’s decision even states “This case is not at all about a fence”. We are now waiting out a 30 day period to see if the neighbors decide to appeal the judge’s ruling.<br /><br /><strong>The Whole Story:</strong> We, Keith and David Ruth-Davis, got custody of our boys in 2011 and quickly our small house was clearly no longer large enough for our growing family. In winter of 2014 we moved to a larger home in Pennsylvania, to a neighborhood and home that was advertised as having no HOA, and no restrictions. We did all our homework, we spoke to our realtors and the township zoning office before we moved in and put up an upscale vinyl 6 foot privacy fence on our property to protect our children and 4 dogs. <br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/11775149_1467397585.5241_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><strong>Our home and the fence</strong><br /><br /> The fence took over 3 weeks to put in place. After the fence was fully installed and we moved into the home in December 2014, we had many neighbors stop by to welcome us and tell us how nice the house looked after we spent a substantial amount to fix it up. Many complimented the fence! <br /><br />After the winter one set of neighbors decided to join with another neighbor and filed a lawsuit against us in March of 2015, stating that the fence had to come down at our cost.  The neighbors were aware that without the fence we would not be able to stay in our current home due to safety concerns for our children and dogs. <br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/11775149_1467397936.1473_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><strong>Our home is located behind the neighborhood</strong><br /><br /><br /> Due to the nature of our children’s biological parents (both are extremely dangerous heroin addicts and dealers) a security fence as well as many other safety precautions, such as special locks, security system and a surveillance system were necessary for us to be able to live in the house securely. All of these concerns had been addressed with the neighbors. We tried to find a compromise, such as planting trees and shrubs along the fence line to mask its visibility but no compromise was acceptable to these individuals. We felt they were irrational and strongly unwilling to compromise.<br /><br /> These neighbors attempted to use an Architecture Committee that has now been proven in court to be defunct and had no documentation of functioning since the neighborhood began, which had already been broken by more than a dozen other homes in the 26 home neighborhood over the 15 years that the development has been in existence, as a grounds to bring the lawsuit against us. We feel this “informal verbal” system that the neighbors use to run this committee has been used to selectively enforce against us.<br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/11775149_1467397878.316_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><strong>View of our home and fence from the neighborhood</strong><br /><br /><br /> Over the course of the last 15 months due to this lawsuit being brought against us we have had to face and fund lawyers, court time, depositions, and investigations. In addition to the lawsuit we have had to deal with regular harassment (both written and verbal). We are forced to hear the slander spoken by these neighbors spread through the neighborhood. Also, from January thru April of this year, our neighbors would call the police on a regular basis and falsely report that our dogs were outside barking, which would result in the police arriving at our home to question us.  Each time the police arrived we were able to prove that the dogs were not outside barking, by producing our surveillance video.<br /><br /><strong>Beginning in June of last year, someone has been vandalizing our home and property:</strong><br /><br />-  Our garage doors were spray painted with the words <strong>“Get Out Fags”<br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/11775149_1467397409.771_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" />"Get Out Fags" graffiti</strong><br /><br />-  Our fence was cut down in the middle of the night on two different occasions<br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/11775149_1467397459.2357_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><strong>Fence vandalism</strong><br /><br />-   Our security ground sensors for the alarm system have been destroyed five times <br /><br /><br />The police have investigated, but have not been able to prove who has been committing these acts of violence against us.<br /><br /><strong>Over the last 15 months, it eventually became very clear to us that this was never about a fence, it is about us being a homosexual couple with children.  <br /></strong><br />During the trial, one neighbor testified to yelling in the direction of our property. Later in the proceeding additional testimony was made that one of these neighbors has yelled homophobic slurs in the direction of our property, our children and our dogs.<br /><br />We are a quiet 2 father family who keeps to themselves and we are being targeted by a group that would like us and our fence gone, and in our opinion, are doing what they can to get us to leave.  This has affected our family emotionally, and financially as well as our children’s well-being due to their confusion, anger, and mistrust over the vandalism in addition to this case making it difficult for them to make friends after becoming the “talk of the school bus”.<br /><br /> This frivolous lawsuit has eaten away at our funds, time, and most of our business (our only source of income). Now, we have won the case against us but our funds have run dry, if we cannot finish paying our attorneys for this lawsuit, as well as what we now owe on back payments on the house (money that has been eaten by the lawsuit), we will not be able to fight any further legal actions against us and we will have to leave our home. Then, even after winning the lawsuit, these neighbors will have won anyway.<br /><br /><strong>We want to fight this, we want to show these individuals, that they cannot use the legal system to selectively enforce their will on others or to attempt to evict people that they don’t agree with from a neighborhood. We just wanted to provide a nice safe home for our children, and we don’t even feel safe to let them outside our home anymore. We need help to set things right!<br /></strong><br /> The option to start a fund did not come lightly, and any contribution made no matter how big or small is appreciated and our family is grateful!
