<div>Last summer over 100 of us walked 92 miles from Gary Speed's first football pitch in North Wales back to Elland Road. Bones were broken, blisters formed in sizes and shapes nobody thought possible and in the end we raised over £85,000 for mental health charities.

<div>Sticking with the Gary Speed theme, this year we are walking from Goodison Park, his boyhood club and destination after Leeds United, back to Leeds. As luck would have it, the route is exactly 92 miles again.

<div>The money raised for Andy's Man Club allowed them to take on extra staff, helping to expand the number of clubs they can offer as well as visiting workplaces to discuss mental health issues. We have also partnered with them to create a monthly podcast where we openly discuss the things that stress us out.

<div>Friends and Family,It is with a heavy heart that I reach out to you today to humbly ask for your support in raising funds for my son Danny and his family, Danny was been diagnosed with incurable stage 4 cancer. This devastating news has left us reeling, he has a partner and 2 small children aged 5 and 8 and 4 siblings and extended family that loved him dearly but we are in need of financial assistance to help reduce the financial worries, and to help make Danny's final journey as memorable and meaningful as possible.Danny was a remarkable gentle sole who has shown incredible courage and resilience in the face of this difficult diagnosis. <div>Hi, my name is Gemma and I have set this page up on behalf of my sister and brother-in-law to help give my niece Mia, the opportunity to play in a football tournament in the South of France next Easter with her football team.

<div>Mia is 9 years old and is football mad, her dream is to one day play for England and be a lioness and I for one fully believe she will achieve this dream. She started off playing for Ripon Panthers under 7’s before progressing to Middlesbrough Women’s under 10 and is now playing for Pannal Ash FC under 11s. Mia also successfully passed trials and secured herself a place at York City Foundation Emerging Talent Centre where she trains once a week and plays in matches.

<div>In addition to the above Mia also attends one to one workshops with the AH Academy and attends weekly training sessions with the Future Lioness Player Development Centre.

Help get Mia to France for a football tournament

<div>Mark is an army veteran who has given 16 years of his life in service to protect and serve our country and was very recently injured whilst in a horrendous accident on a motorway during his work as a HGV driver. The injury has resulted in Mark's leg being amputated and various other serious injuries are going to affect his earnings capability in the future but more importantly have a devastating financial impact now while he is starting his long road to recovery.

<div>After his many years of service, it is now our turn to give something back to Mark (Sedge) as he served us when we needed him and now the tables have turned. We don’t want to see him and his family made homeless or go hungry through no fault of his own.

<div>Can you join me in helping to raise money, so we can build funds to protect them in the short term and provide the financial security they are going to need to see them through the next few months and give Mark, (who is a keep fitness fanatic), the space to use his mental &amp; physical strength he will need to start his recovery which is going to be arduous and challenging as it would be for any of us.

<div>It is heart-breaking writing this Go-Fund-Me backstory for such a brilliant local lad and dear friend to many; Pete Gibson (Gibbo). Some of you will already be aware; following a short series of headaches and feeling unwell, Pete collapsed in his home in March 2023, he was then admitted to hospital where they ran a series of tests and tragically diagnosed him with a rare brain tumour: Butterfly Glioma; the typical prognosis at such an advanced stage is 3-6 months.

<div>A group of over 100 Leeds fans are walking 92 miles from <a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-north-east-wales-18969975" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Gary's first football pitch</a> in North Wales to the one he lifted the Championship Trophy on in 1992. Along the way, we will be visiting glamorous locations such as Warrington, Oldham and Huddersfield and passing by the doorstep of Old Trafford.

<div><strong>Why?</strong>

<div>Even 10 years later, Gary's passing is something we all struggle to come to terms with, so when the 10th anniversary came around in November, we decided it was an occasion we shouldn't leave unmarked. The end of this season seems a perfect time to celebrate his life as it coincides with the 30 year anniversary of the title win Gary contributed so much to. Whether in his usual midfield role, filling in at left-back or up front in place of Lee Chapman, Gary was brilliant at all of it. He was talented, handsome and loved by thousands. If mental heath can be an issue for someone as brilliant as that then it's an issue for all of us.

<div><strong>When and where?</strong>
</div>
<div>Between the 26th and 29th of May 2022. The route starts on Courtland Drive, close to Gary's childhood home and the park that now bears his name. From there, on day 1, we will walk as far as Warrington, via Ellesmere Port and Frodsham. Day 2, we leave Warrington to the South, picking up the Trans-Pennine Trail before joining the canal in Altrincham and walking all the way through Manchester before finishing in Oldham. Day 3 is a tough climb over the tops before we join the canal in Marsden and walk down the canal to Huddersfield. Day 4, the final day, is a mere 18 miles from Huddersfield to Leeds, including a stop-off at the Gary Speed mural in Bramley. Form there we will, naturally, finish at Elland Road.
