<div>Our sweet baby Oscar was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) type 1 at 11 days old. SMA type 1 is an aggressive and rare genetic disease. It permanently damages the nerves that enable mobility, breathing and swallowing. Without treatment, children with this disease rarely live past the age of 2.

<div>After diagnosis Oscar had to wait 3 weeks for a gene therapy that stopped the progression of the disease. The nerve loss he has experienced means that he will have significant challenges in life. He will need to work hard to build the strength to sit up and bear weight on his legs and to fight respiratory illnesses. Doctors assure us that he will be in a wheelchair and will develop back issues like scoliosis.

Funds will go toward years of private physiotherapy &amp; chiropractor, dozens of mobility devices, an accessible vehicle and home, and nursing support. He was spiking 103 temperatures, he is nauseous and is having crippling headaches. Dylan remained there until he was taken by car instead of ambulance to save money, to U Of M Hospital in Ann Arbor.  We CANNOT allow Dylan's care be decided on money.  The Kade boys are like sons of my own and I'm sure many of you feel the same.  They say "It takes a village to raise a child" Today we need to come together and help one of Lake Orion's sons. <br />Mary Kay is the sole income as a self employed Hair Stylist for their family since Erv's shocking diagnosis of Early onset Dementia. I understand the COVID  shutdown has devastated many, but it hit the Kade family right in the heart.  <br />At Lake Orion High School Dylan played Football, Baseball, Wresting and then became one of the rising stars in CrossFit: <br />2016 3rd  in the World, 2017 10th in the World, 2018 3rd in the World and in 2019 Men's division 339th in the World (his first year in men's and he tore his knee resulting in surgery.)<br />Dylan is obviously a very strong young man who will fight through this but We need to allow Mary Kay and Erv to concentrate on  Dylan's care and not be focused on the mounting bills that have been accumulating.
