As they continue to heal both physically and emotionally they are also grieving the unimaginable loss of their beloved daughter, Zoë. Remembering Zoë Leiniz and Supporting the Leiniz Family

<div>Lia Marie Johnson, beloved preschool teacher at Little Tree Huggers (LTH) <a href="https://www.littletreehuggers.orgwas" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.littletreehuggers.orgwas</a> in a terrible accident while visiting family in Argentina. On June 2nd, she was run over by a motor vehicle while returning to her airBnb. It was the first night of a dream vacation she had planned for a year, and she suffered a traumatic brain injury (specifically a Diffuse Axonal Injury), multiple fractures and a perforated lung, as she was struck and the launched over 50ft from the point of impact. She remaned unconscious and in critical condition for close to a month and finally started breathing and making involuntary movements in early July. Throughout her hospitalization in Argentina, she had a total of four different bouts of hospital acquired pneumonia and a second lung perforation because of a feeding tube insertion.

<div>Her family’s need during her initial fight for recovery was support with medical, travel, and lodging expenses while going to and from Argentina to be with Lia Marie. Neither the US Embassy, nor Blue Cross offered any repatriation assistance and initial estimates ranged from $145-250k.

<div>As important as donations and prayers were at that juncture, the family was adamant that as many people as possible take the time to listen to and share Lia Marie’s music. <div>Lia Marie’s first two weeks at INOVA Fairfax Hospital represented exponential progress, so much so that by the end of her first week she had been accepted to be admitted to the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab – the nation’s leading neurological rehabilitation center in Chicago.    We are now just waiting on insurance approval and it’s heartbreaking to see her hungry to do more, while at the same time confined to a hospital bed.

Upon our return to the United States, Lia Marie’s mother, Lia, reached out to Dr. Jill to let her know what happened to Lia Marie and to ask for her advice on what would help optimize her success. <div>Lia Marie shows clear signs that she understands everything that’s going on. She opens her left eye, moves her left and right leg and has started to make sounds. She shows a full range of facial expressions and emotions and she’s moving around like a wiggle worm on her bed. She is clearly impatient to move on the next stage of recovery but armed with the neuromovement strategies Dr. Jill and Aunt Carla have exposed us to, we are sure we will be able to make her initial phase of rehabilitation go smoothly. We have also told Lia Marie that the transfer to Shirley Ryan will require yet another air transport and she seems ok with that.

Her love of nature and all living things shines through her work at LTH, teaching the children how to love Mother Earth and care for our planet. Support Sasha's Daughters' Education Fund

<div>Where do we begin? We’re all still reeling from the shock of Sunday night, but I’ll try my best to tell the story of our courageous friend, sister, co-laborer, Sasha Leiniz.
</div>

<div>On Friday afternoon, Sasha rang the iconic cancer bell. She officially finished her breast cancer treatments. After 1 year of chemotherapy and radiation, after a double mastectomy and a painful recovery, Sasha kissed breast cancer goodbye. Her husband and three babies (Esperanza - 10, Zoë - 6, and Izabel- 4) surrounded her and together all five of them pulled that bell rope. Our God carried the Leiniz family through an impossible season and so with every ringing chime, we all felt the sweet resonance of a victory.

<div>Unfortunately, only two days later, on Sunday night Sasha fell to the ground. She had been struggling with a throbbing headache but like she always does, Sasha pushed through. The headache intensified until finally she collapsed. Joel, her husband, rushed her to the ER. After receiving several scans, we received the news… the breast cancer had spread to her brain, her chest, her lungs, and her liver. The battle is not over.

</div>
<div>Sasha has been in the hospital ever since the fall. On September 6th, Sasha is scheduled to undergo brain surgery to remove the large mass that is pressing against her brain and causing these severe headaches. The brain is the primary focus right now. Doctors are optimistic because the mass is in an operable location. We are optimistic because we serve a God of miracles, a God who heals. We are trusting that God will carry Sasha through as He has done time and time again, since the day she was born.

<div>So many of us have been blessed by Sasha. Not only in her role as the Children’s Director at New Covenant Church, but also as a co-laborer, a sister and friend. Sasha is generous and kind. She is intentional with everyone around her. Even as she’s walked this painful breast cancer journey, she’s found unique ways to bless us. We now have a unique opportunity to bless her.

<div>Although we can’t physically fight this battle for Sasha, we can stand with her. Cancer is costly and we don’t want money to be a burden for the Leiniz family. That's why we are starting this page. Both Sasha and Joel (who serves as the Youth Director of New Covenant), have given their lives to full-time ministry. Financial support during this time will bless their family tremendously. 100% of the money collected will go towards their medical and living expenses during this season. Sasha’s Fight Against Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer

<div>For those who may not know Allan, let me tell you a little about the love of my life. Allan has a smile that captivates everyone who meets him. He is kind, caring, generous, loving, funny and a darn good pilot. He brightens the room when he walks in. He has the worst dad jokes, ssshh, don't tell him I said that. He adores his family and values his friendships. He makes everyone feel important. He's just an easy going man.

<div>Allan is currently in a Denver hospital. He was here for training with United Airlines when he had a freak accident and fell from an electric scooter and suffered head trauma. Secondary complications ensued and he was put on a ventilator for 12 days. Thankfully he was taken off the ventilator recently and is now starting his healing journey from his accident.

<div>He will need acute therapy and we would like to bring our Allan back home to continue and finish his healing process. However, insurance more than likely may not cover the costs needed to get him home. He would require a medical transport by plane or ambulance and medical team to care for him during the trip. The funds raised will also help with any medical bills that insurance will not cover.

On the day of December 18th, 2020 at 10:30 AM my dear Uncle lost his life due to a tragic accident in his work truck in West Palm Beach. He came into the family a little over 20 years ago when his mom set him up on a blind date with my Aunt Ivy which amazing enough, they hit it off and he never left her side after that. They welcomed their son Brandyn in May 2003 and nine months later, Nikolas in June 2004. Felix was always a great provider, Father, and Husband. He never liked to receive because all he wanted to do was give. One thing that always also stood out about Felix was he was a huge goof ball. he loved to joke around! He loved listening to Freestyle music and loved to work out.
