<div>Imagine yourself at the age of 30 and you just lost both of your arms and legs due to a serious infection. Think about how you would perform day-to-day activities such as using the bathroom, taking a shower, or brushing your teeth. It is just impossible to do without help.

<div>Now, imagine watching your friends living their lives. Some have started new jobs and moved into an apartment, others are getting married, having children or relocating to a new town. The heartbreak and depression are just insurmountable but somehow you find your inner strength to embrace the long journey toward recovery.

<div>The journey toward recovery not only impacts you, but your entire family as they each take shifts to help you with your daily needs and ensure your safety. You ask yourself, “how will I function the rest of my life as I get older, and my family is no longer around to help me?” Your home environment has become a challenging space full of obstacles and safety hazards.

<div><strong>Anna’s Story:</strong>
</div>
<div>I would like you to meet our daughter Anna Norquist. The situation I described is imaginary for you, but it is reality for our daughter Anna.
</div>
<div>Anna fell ill in December 2018 and was rushed to IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis where physicians told us she was in septic shock, but they were unable to determine the cause of the infection. We were told she had a 2-3% chance of survival.
</div>
<div>To save Anna’s life, she was given large doses of vasopressors which are a vital treatment for critically ill patients. They work by narrowing the blood vessels, which increases blood pressure to ensure vital organs get oxygen and nutrients. Miraculously, Anna survived, and her physicians said, “she’s a medical miracle” but her battle was not over.
</div>
<div>As with any medication, there are side effects. The large doses of vasopressors led to limb ischemia resulting in the loss of all four limbs: both legs below the knees, her right arm mid-humerus, and her left arm mid-ulna. She is without one elbow and a wrist.
</div>
<div>As a quadruple amputee she needed specialized prosthetic limbs tailored to her individual needs which she received in January 2021. Since that time, she has been undergoing comprehensive rehabilitation and learning to use her prosthetic limbs.
</div>
<div>It is not so simple as slipping on prosthetic limbs and going about your normal day.
</div>

<div><strong>It is about independence and purpose.</strong>
</div>
<div>As a quadruple amputee, Anna’s living environment is full of challenges and potential safety hazards requiring home modifications for accessibility, function, and safety.
</div>
<div>Increasing her independence means making her home environment handicapped-accessible so she has personal mobility with a purpose in a motorized wheelchair. It also means using adaptive equipment to aid her in performing day-to-day activities such as a voice-activated shower.
</div>

<div>Hello! My name is Carolyn Banik and we are fundraising for a service dog for our daughter who suffers from a rare neurodegenerative disease called BPAN (beta-propeller protein associated neurodegeneration), a Neuronal Brain Iron Accumulation disorder. It affects 3 in 1 million people and is characterized with childhood global delays and seizures and as they progress Parkinsonism, dystonia, and dementia. Her disease is progressive and those affected start to regress in their skills and abilities as early as adolescence. The disorder will shorten her life span and once the regressions start we don't know how long we have. (<a href="https://www.nbiadisorders.org" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NBIA Disorders Association Website</a>). The disorder was discovered in 2012 in adults and there is no treatment and no cure. Many people diagnosed are also diagnosed with Autism. Our daughter was diagnosed with autism in June of 2024. She has no concept of safety, will wander off, or dart through parking lots/streets. She is non-verbal so we have to keep a very close eye on her because if she did wander off she wouldn't be able to communicate her way back to us. We are raising money for a service dog to keep her safe, keep her calm, and give her the help she needs to navigate situations with less anxiety.

<div>Life throws us curve balls every day. None of us know our future. Kelly recently went to the doctor and found some life changing news that no one wants to hear. Kelly was diagnosed with Metastatic gastric cancer stage 4. It takes a village and nows the time for us to be able to help Kelly and Carl. Raising 3 children all under the age of 5 . This is a lifetime battle, they’ll be traveling to and from Northwestern in Chicago at least twice a month or more for treatment .This will help with medical bills, daily bills, and just daily living for the family during this time. Post surgery update by Patrick Norquist:

My sister, Anna Norquist, has a best friend, Scott Frisz, and he just had to have his left foot amputated. I consider this man just as much a brother as my flesh and blood. You can always count on him for smiles and laughter. No matter how much pain he was in, he was always there to help. 

After years of battling complications with his left foot, about a decade, it finally had to go. My sister being a quad amputee and her best friend just had to have an amputation... 
Some days he couldn’t even walk. He will have more mobility with his prosthetic than he did prior to. Let’s help him get there. 

I have no experience being a single father. But scott brings his son, Braydon, over to our house at least a few times a week. It’s the best. And I’m starting to get an idea of how costly raising a child can be. He took off work, obviously, to heal and that takes a huge chunk out of his income. Especially in economic times like this with the world changing and fear of unemployment. Bills add up fast. And you would be surprised how fast $5 donations add up. I couldn’t imagine how heavily having major surgery, taking work off, and raising a child could weigh down so hard on someone. All I ask is that you donate what you can and say a few prayers for a speedy recovery. 

And as my sister being a quad amputee, I do have a pretty good idea as to how that can effect a family financially. Medical bills, cost of supplies, and prosthetics are not cheap by any means. It’s great that Scott moved into his parents house while recovering. His parents are amazing people. We did the same. And it effects the entire households economic dynamic. This is for scott and his family. Especially that little boy Braydon. What an incredible addition to an amazing family. 

I beg you to give the same prayers and support to Scott and his family as you have shown my sister and my family. He has helped me more than he will ever know. He’s one of the best people I know. And I’ve come to respect him and look up to him. He handles his affair and takes care of the people he loves. Thanks to everyone for their prayers and support. Let’s help him get back on his feet. New Single Father, Scott Frisz, Becomes Amputee

My dad is a Navy Vetran who was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer early last year and has put up the fight that any soldier would. He worked all the way up until May 2016. He did chemo and radiation and in the end even tried Opdivo to try to lengthen his life, instead he has gone through many of the side effects. He is the step father to 6 kids, all adults now, who love and respect him like he is their own father. The last few weeks have been extremely hard, he isnt able to eat. At all. We are looking to raise funds to pay the final costs of the services for his burial and all final bills. My dad worries a lot about things that shouldnt be on his mind. Final costs are one of those things. So heres my idea, go fund me.... One less thing to worry about is what I am hoping to give to him with helping set up this account. All help that is given here would mean the world to our family. Its hard enough to watch someone you love die from cancer, but  to worry how to pay the final costs is overwhelming. It would be stress relieving on us while we are already going through a delicate time. Having it as soon as we could would be great. We dont have much time left with him.

<strong>Hello Everyone!</strong><br />I would first like to say that a blank page is very intimidating. I will give my all to tell you how inspiring, loving, and deserving my little buddy is.......<br />In 1999 I met Caleb's mom (Shannon), both pregnant at the same time and due days apart.  We laughed and joked about who would deliver first and even went to the same scary haunted house, in hopes to be scared into delivery.<br />On October 28th, 1999 I delivered my first son. While recovering, I heard Shannon's voice.  As I walked out into the hallway, there she was, holding Caleb.  We had become mothers just hours apart.  <br />From that moment, we spent many hours sitting beside each other at sporting events.  We watched while our little boys grew.  <br />On March 22nd, 2014 Shannon passed away from complications of Cystic Fibrosis.  During the funeral, Caleb read to his mom.  I watched as he stood as a young man.  Tears rolling down my face, I ached for his pain. A young man and his mom will always have a special bond.<br />Caleb and his family began to heal.<br /><br />Caleb has always loved Rugby and for all who know him, he is tough.  During practice last spring, Caleb became very weak and to the point of having shortness of breath.  After many lab draws, visits to the Dr, and blood transfusions, Caleb and his family received the news.<br />Caleb was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS)- an underlying condition of Aplastic Anemia, preleukemia on chromosome 7.  In English, it means he has something that would turn into AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) &amp; a condition in which his Hemoglobin (the organelle in your red blood cells which transports your oxygen) decreases, and is not at normal levels, low platelets (the cell that stops bruising, bleeding and anything else you can think of.) and finally low white blood cells but he doesn't get low levels for that too often.  Treatment is a bone marrow transplant.<br />On October 30th, Caleb began his journey at Cincinnati Children's Hospital (4 hours away from home).  Sleepless nights, abdomen &amp; leg pains, muscle spasms, diarrhea, uncontrollable bladder, Microangiopathy, Ademo virus, and Graft vs Host disease.  Each and every day, Caleb has remained strong, never complaining, giving his all to get home. <br /><br /><img src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/9453787_1456461320.5392_funddescription.jpg" alt="9453787_1456461320.5392_funddescription." /><br />A 16 year old young man, who inspires all ages.<br />Last week Caleb joked in a post on Facebook about getting a Jeep.  Even though he is fighting this battle, he is still the 16 year old young man underneath.<br />This GoFundMe page is to help give Caleb a gift of hope.  The money would go towards the purchase of a Jeep for Caleb.  <br /><br />-Caleb-if you are reading this buddy........
