Thank you kindly! <br /><br /><br /><strong>Message from Duke: </strong><br /><br />My friend Simba, and for many of you, your friend too, has been diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in his front left leg. <br /><br />Osteosarcoma is a bone tumor that rapidly eats away the bone, is very painful, and can become increasingly more painful if untreated. <br /><br />In the meantime, he seems to be doing just fine on his low dose of doggy pain pills. <br /><br />The long term approach for Simba to live a happy healthy pain-free life is an amputation of that front left leg from the scapula down. Dear Friends of Platypus Tours,<br /><br />We are overwhelmed by the response from friends, family, past guests and strangers who have donated so generously to our campaign. We appreciate every cent. We started the distribution to our staff members, who are grateful to receive financial support after losing work due to the cancelled tours. Our staffing is still reduced considerably because of a significant drop-off in business, so contributions are still very much appreciated.<br /><br />We are happy to note that our tours have resumed normal operation . The Atlas, Nuns, and Tubbs fires are at 100% containment as of Halloween day. The area does not expect any further property damage as a result of the fires.<br /><br />Napa and Sonoma Counties have officially switched from “disaster” mode to “recovery” mode. And you can help with that! Napa and Sonoma are open for business, and we are happily encouraging all visitors to keep their scheduled vacations, or to make new plans to come see us. While the fires are contained, they were financially devastating to the area. The Tubbs fire has been called the “single most destructive wildland blaze in state history.” Insurance officials say it is the costliest in the country’s history. Local businesses - including wineries, hotels, restaurants and tour operators such as ourselves - have lost physical property as well as revenue from the normally large number of visitors that come in October. Choosing to visit Wine Country will make a huge difference in the speed with which we can recover from this devastation. The skies are blue, the air is clear, and you will never meet hospitality members so grateful for and ready to host visitors. <br /><br />We look forward to seeing you soon!

Platypus Tours Staff Fire Relief

<p>Edythe De La Rosa is a lovely, kind, and elderly lady who has been generally self-sufficient for most of her life, she's raised a family and lives on her own.  She recently had her vehicle, wheelchair and walker stolen from her and now has been left without a way to get around.  This gofundme endeavor is an effort that will be used to help her recover what was stolen; that being a vehicle that will be sufficient to help her maintain her independence as she's always done.  The funds would be prefered to be raised as soon as possible, but there isn an understanding of what time of year this has occurred; every little bit helps!! So please, think of your own family, wouldn't it be nice to help out a lovely lady who has always been a joy to know, such as your own mother, grandmother, aunt or anyone else you love dearly to maintain their quality of life and independence so long as they can?  I know I would! <p>"STAYTON, Ore. — Edythe De La Rosa lives at her home in Stayton with a caretaker. She relies on a wheelchair and walker to get around her home.<br /><br />With the weekend storm heading to the Pacific northwest, the 91-year-old said she loaded both her wheelchair and walker in to her van to prepare for a quick evacuation.<br /><br />The storm came and went, but Sunday she realized her van was gone.<br /><br />“I don't understand how anyone, Christian or not, could do that to a person in my condition - or my age,” Edythe said.<br /><br />Edythe had to save part of her social security checks for over a year in order to buy the wheelchair and walker.<br /><br />“I was in 7th heaven, I could go anywhere!” Edythe remembered.<br /><br />With the walker, Edythe was able to get around her home and tend to her flowers. Now she is confined to a chair in her kitchen.<br /><br />“My little walker was worth a million dollars to me,” Edythe said.<br /><br />Edythe has outlived her husband and six children. She says she feels even more alone without the ability to move around her home with ease.<br /><br />“It's all the family I got, my family's all gone, I’m all alone,” Edythe said. “I can’t do much, my hands don't work, I’ve had a stroke... why do that to me?
