<div>This fundraiser is being organized for the Everitt family as they face the unimaginable heartbreak of losing a devoted husband, loving father, and the cornerstone of their family far too soon.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>There are no words that can truly capture the pain of this loss. In an instant, Teagan, Cuyler, and their mom Shelley have had their world forever changed. As they navigate the grief, shock, and uncertainty that follows such a sudden tragedy, we hope to surround them with the same love, kindness, and support they have so generously given to others throughout the years.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Many in our community know Teagan and Cuyler through their involvement in The 714 Wasaga Beach Air Cadet Program, the YMCA, and their schools, where they have grown from young participants into leaders and camp counsellors, always willing to lend a hand, encourage others, and make a positive impact. Their dad was incredibly proud of the people they were becoming and the dreams they were working so hard to achieve.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As the family begins the difficult journey ahead, our goal is to ease some of the burdens that accompany such a devastating loss. With their father being self-employed, the financial challenges ahead are significant and often unpredictable. Funds raised will help provide stability and support during the months and years to come, allowing their mom the opportunity to take time away from work if needed, care for her children, and focus on healing.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Your contribution will help ensure Teagan and Cuyler have access to the support services they may need, including counselling and therapy, cover the cost of college or the programs they are looking to take with their career choices, while also helping with everyday living expenses and unforeseen costs that arise after the loss of a loved one. Most importantly, it will help provide the family with the time, space, and resources needed to grieve without the constant weight of financial worry.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>No family can be prepared for a loss like this. While we cannot take away their pain, we can come together to remind them that they do not have to face it alone.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are deeply humbled and grateful for the incredible outpouring of kindness, generosity, and support from our community. Because of your compassion and willingness to help, this fundraiser has already exceeded our initial expectations. In response to the overwhelming support and the long-term needs the family will face, we have increased our fundraising goal. Every additional dollar raised will go directly toward helping provide stability, opportunities, and support for the children, as they navigate the difficult road ahead.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every donation, share, and message of support is a reminder that an entire community stands beside the Everitt family during one of the most difficult chapters of their lives. Whether you have contributed financially, shared the fundraiser, or simply kept the family in your thoughts, please know that your support is making a meaningful difference.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for helping us honour the memory of an incredible man by caring for the people he loved most. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for showing the Everitt family that they are surrounded by a community that will continue to stand beside them, today and in the years ahead. ❤️

<div>TOP SIX REASONS TO SUPPORT STOPPING DEVELOPMENT ON THE PROVINCIALLY SIGNIFICANT SILVER CREEK WETLAND, FLOODPLAIN AND CREEK IN COLLINGWOOD, ON
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>We need to insist that regional and provincial governments protect the 180 hectares (450 acre) of Provincially Significant Silver Creek Wetland from imminent development and hold them accountable:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>1.  CLEAN WATER: These Wetlands filter the water draining 2700 hectares in the surrounding area, removing many pollutants and silt before this water reaches Georgian Bay.  Without this natural filter, Georgian Bay becomes more silted in, algae blooms, wildlife dies and residents and tourists encounter "No Swim" days;
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>2. FLOOD PREVENTION
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>3. DESTRUCTION OF TROUT/SALMON HABITAT Silver Creek is a Class A cold water trout/salmon stream. If development goes ahead, trees are removed, water temperatures rise and this cold water stream becomes uninhabitable for these fish. We are left with suckers, carp and other species of fish that can survive in warmer water.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>4. THREATENED AND ENDANGERED SPECIES: Silver Creek, its floodplain and the Wetland are home to countless birds, fish and animals that thrive within them, relying on them for food, shelter and a place to raise their young. Many of these species are designated as threatened and will disappear if development goes ahead. Biodiversity will lose another battle to irresponsible development.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>5. DESTRUCTION OF NATURAL HERITAGE: The Silver Creek system is part of our natural heritage. Without this area and others like it, we just become another case of urban sprawl with nothing unique to offer the residents and thousands of tourists, except a Georgian Bay with questionable water quality and miles of houses, roads, cars, construction vehicles and malls. Our local economy (tourism) depends on maintaining and protecting our natural environment.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>6. FIGHTING CLIMATE CHANGE: Wetlands are among the most powerful natural stores of carbon and one of our most important tools for combatting climate change. Destroying them is like emptying your last canister of water on a long hike through the desert. Why would we purposely sabotage ourselves?
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The whole of the Niagara Escarpment in the Collingwood and Blue Mountains area are under increasing pressure from developers. Our governments have to recognize the value of our natural assets, because once they are gone, they are GONE!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Let your political leaders know we citizens are thousands strong and growing in this together and we are watching them and where they place their priorities. Act now and please support us to raise funds for legal counsel so we can call political leaders to account!

On the evening of August 18th Josh who is a level 2 trampoline coach was practicing his flips at the trampoline centre in Collingwood, where he has worked off and on since he was a teenager. One of Josh's best friends was with him when his head and right arm went through the springs and smashed into the floor breaking his neck and leaving him paralyzed from the chest down. Josh was airlifted to Sunnybrook hospital from Collingwood that evening and he was rushed into surgery. Josh is the son of our good friend Leslie Pocklington and her partner Chris Dopp.<br /> We are looking to his friends and community to support Josh and his family in dealing with untold expenses in the coming years due to the fact that his employer had no insurance. Please give generously. <br /><br />Here is a message from Josh's mom, Leslie, written on August 24, 2017:<br /><br />"Josh is amazing! He can use his right hand now so he communicates with us by writing on a white board. His messages are often heartfelt and leave you in tears. His sense of humour still comes out even in the face of such adversity! Josh was moved into a room with a window yesterday because he was hallucinating. It's common in the ICU because there is no natural light in most of the rooms. The patients have no idea if it's night or day. They literally start going bonkers after a couple of days. The first few days were filled with trauma and shock for all of us. We are resigned to the fact that Joshua will never walk again but continue to believe that he will breathe on his own soon and be able to use his left hand as well at some point. He gets such joy from reading messages from his friends and sisters on his phone.❤️ If we hold his phone for him he can poke out messages back. Yesterday they hoisted him into a chair for an hour or more so he could see out of the window. Such joy!!! The staff and team of neurosurgeons have been incredible. Such a support under one roof. They are remarkable. Truly. We are so blessed to have them. Josh will probably be in the ICU for up to a month and then he will get moved to another ward. After he leaves Sunnybrook he will live at the best rehab centre in the universe, called Lyndhurst, for a minimum of three months. As an aside, his employer did NOT have insurance. This has made us sick we we realize there is nothing coming from insurance to help Josh for the rest of his life. Keep Josh in your prayers please. Our boy is a survivor but he has many tough times ahead in this new journey.❤️"<br /><br />A message from Chris Dopp, Leslie's Partner:<br /><br />"Josh is 25 years old, athletic and was going to open his own trampoline centre. As a matter of fact, his business plan is sitting on our coffee table because I was reviewing it for him. It's very comprehensive, outlining every dime coming in and out. Josh budgeted $1,000 per month for insurance because that's the number his "boss" gave him.  Josh broke his neck, is paralyzed and it turns out his "boss" has no insurance. This kid had his life planned out. Worked and saved his money and his life went from a missed trampoline landing to a wheelchair in a matter of seconds. I could carry on about what kind of piece of **** would put his employee and his customers at such peril for $560 per month ( that's what he was quoted for insurance), however,  I'm going to take the high road. Life is short. Enjoy whatever you can. Seize the moment. Live life till its fullest. But most importantly, never, ever quit. That's what Josh has done and will continue to do. I'd put money on it."<br /><br />For a journal from Leslie on Josh's journey go to:<br /><br /><a href="https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/josh2" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/josh2</a><br /><br />Treatment and rehabilitation will be lengthy and costly with no insurance .<br /><br />Short Term:<br />- support needs for accommodations, meals, travel, parking for immediate family<br /><br />Long Term (unknown at present but possibly):<br />- mobility aids, splints<br />- motorized scooter<br />- motor vehicle accommodations<br />- housing renovations<br />- vocational training<br />- long term living expenses<br />- care givers<br />- physio, occupational therapy<br />- psychotherapy<br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/23278672_1503679533.0185_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/23278672_1503679555.4763_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/23278672_1503679582.819_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br />August 27, 2017<br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/23278672_1503921986.2657_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" />

Support Josh Noronha

<br />My mom Sue does not like to ask for help, even when she really needs it. Those of you that know my mom, know that she spends countless hours supporting others and helping family and friends in need, while her own needs are often unmet. In fact she would be incredibly embarrassed if she knew we were creating this GoFundMe campaign for her treatments. It took me a while to swallow my pride as well, however more than anything I want her to be able to access the treatments needs which are not covered by OHIP. We have been advised by her naturopath Dr. Yaris at the Lakeside Clinic in Barrie that she will need to start this treatment plan right away and adhere to the treatments for a minimum of twelve months. Due to the high cost of the treatments she will require and on the advice of many friends, we decided to embark on this campaign to fund the expense of her treatments for the next twelve months.<br /> <br />In the event the amount raised exceeds the costs of her treatments, we will donate the balance to support other Cancer patients. We are incredibly grateful for the support and prayers of all our family and friends during these past few months, and will post regular updates on Mom’s progress over the coming year. <br /><br />Mom has always been very active, eats an incredibly healthy diet and has a healthy lifestyle. As a result she has always been perceived as being much younger than 72. Since my dad’s sudden passing ten years ago, she has experienced a great deal of stress financially and has shouldered much of the burden of caring for my sister, niece and autistic nephew.<br /><br />Mom suffers from arrhythmia and has had been in the hospital many times when her heart was out of rhythm. She has had several ablations and procedures to help regulate her heart rate. Her heart condition is a serious concern and most recently has limited the cancer treatments available to her.<br /><br />In December last year she was in acute pain, and thought she was having a recurrence of her heart issues once again. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital in Barrie. After a multitude of tests including ultrasounds, ECG, MRI, blood work etc., they discovered that she had dilated cardiomyopathy of the left ventricle (an enlarged heart). This was a bit surprising due to her abnormally low blood pressure. Her considerable pain continued, primarily in her pelvis and this time her symptoms were not aligned with heart issues. <br /><br />On December 23rd we thought we were in danger of losing her. She hadn’t eaten in days and was in excruciating pain, which caused her heart to go out of rhythm. After being in the hospital for an extended period, she was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis on Dec. 24th. They continued to administer further tests and in doing so, discovered a cancerous tumour in her pancreas in mid-February. Due to her damaged heart they were unable to operate right away and weren’t sure if they would have to perform heart surgery first. Her cardiologist stated that it there was a strong likelihood that she would have a stroke during surgery and that her heart wasn’t strong enough to withstand the anesthesia. <br /><br />Her oncologist stated that surgery was a necessity and she wouldn’t survive without removing the tumour from her pancreas. She consulted with several surgeons and after a great deal of prayer decided to go ahead with surgery. She had the surgery at St. Joseph’s hospital in Toronto on April 29th and it was successful. The surgeon took a considerable portion of her pancreas in order to remove the tumour and he also removed her spleen. She had a challenging recovery from the surgery as she couldn’t digest food properly and experienced a great deal of pain, especially when eating. She has lost a significant amount of weight and for those of you that know mom, she didn’t have any to lose in the first place.<br /><br />Mom’s oncologist advised that her liver is at risk as pancreatic cancer often spreads to the liver, and they are monitoring her lungs as they discovered abnormal cells there as well. We need to urgently start treatments to prevent further spreading of the cancer from her pancreas and help her body defeat cancer. <br /><br />Since her surgery, mom has consulted with a multitude of experts and we have done extensive research on the best approach to healing her from Cancer, in addition to regular appointments with her Oncologist. Her Oncologist recommended a course of Chemo although after the first round, her blood pressure was too low and her heart and immune system were too weak, rendering her unable to continue with Chemo. <br /><br />Consequently we have explored other treatments to defeat the Cancer. The two primary treatments that she is pursuing are Intravenous Vitamin C Therapy and Mistletoe Therapy, which will both be administered under the supervision of Dr. Yaris in Barrie. To monitor the effectiveness of her treatments, Mom hopes to undertake regular screening and blood analysis so she can adjust her treatment plan as needed. <br /><br />We also hope to send her to the Hippocrates Health Institute in Florida in September to undergo additional treatment following a cancer-focused treatment program that is unavailable in Canada; the cost of this program including flights and accommodation is approximately $9,000. <br /><br />Intravenous Vitamin C is an effective and well-established cancer treatment, supported by numerous medical studies, albeit extremely costly. At large doses (achieved only intravenously), vitamin C can induce oxidative damage to cells, as it increases levels of hydrogen peroxide (a chemical that destroys cancer cells). Vitamin C therapy, which will be administered intravenously by mom’s naturopath twice weekly, is the most expensive treatment at approximately $200 per session and the largest component of our funding campaign.<br /><br />Mistletoe preparation is found to enhance the body's anti-cancer immunity and thereby to inhibit tumour cell growth. It is given in an injectable form, three times a week by mom’s naturopath. Mistletoe therapy is a conventional Cancer therapy that is widely used in Europe and gaining increasing acceptance in North America. <br /><br />Together with Vitamin C and Mistletoe treatments we are strengthening her immune system with a healthy diet and supplementation in order to restore her to full health. After studying the Gerson Diet, and conducting research into the most effective nutrition, mom has been following an organic plant-based diet, including, vegetable juices, focused on alkaline, low-sugar foods to support her body to fight cancer, which thrives in an acidic environment feeding on sugar.<br /><br />In order to assist with detoxification, which carries the risk of overburdening the liver (a significant risk for a Pancreatic cancer patient), it has been recommended for mom to have lymphatic massage and coffee enemas (Gerson therapy).<br /><br />Although this has been an incredibly stressful time, your love and support and most of all your prayers have been so uplifting. Mom’s faith in God has carried her through thus far and we value your continued prayers more than anything else. Even by sharing this page, you can make a difference in helping us to get her the treatments that she  needs to win this battle. Words cannot convey the depth and extent of our gratitude for your care and compassion. Thank you all so much!! xxxxxxooooo<br /><br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/22358290_1500404618.15_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" />
