<div>From Jax's mother Cherilynne: With a broken heart, I share the news that our beloved Jax Gratton has been found — and she is no longer with us. There are no words strong enough for the grief we are feeling. The light she carried, the love she gave so freely, and the joy she brought into our lives have been taken from this world far too soon.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I want to thank everyone — near and far — who has shown up for us. Everyone who shared her story. Everyone who shared her face. Everyone who sent out a prayer, a hope, a kind thought. Everyone who hit the ground running and hasn’t stopped.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>You have brought so much light into our lives during the darkest time. Your words, your support, your strength — they’ve helped keep us going. You’ve reminded us that we can’t give up, and we won’t, not until she was found. Now, we grieve together.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I will never forget your kindness.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This has opened my eyes in ways I can’t ignore. It’s not just about Jax — it’s about all of you in the LGBTQIA+ community who face the world every day with courage, just wanting to live, love, and exist safely and equally. That should never be a fight. And yet it is.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Jax Gratton was a light — I know that. She lit up so many lives just by being herself. Unapologetically. Fiercely. Fully. I see her in every act of love and strength you’ve shown, and I wish peace, love, and protection for all of you.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I hope for a world that’s safer — for me, for my children, and for all of us who are connected by care and compassion.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Please remember: you are not alone. If you need help, speak up. It is never too late.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you — truly — for everything.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>* This GoFundMe will now serve as a way to take care of Jax's final expenses, a beautiful life celebration of life, support for jax's family, and any other items that are needed to make sure we get Justice for Jax!

Jax: Celebration of life, and support for Justice efforts

<div><strong>“Bring along your feelings… Leave behind your assumptions… All are welcome in Queer Country!”</strong>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>Since 2022, <a href="https://queercountrymusic.com/about-the-band/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Queer Country has been growing</a> on the Mendocino Coast. <strong>We craft our alt-country sound around our rich vocal harmonies, featuring them among a landscape that includes pedal steel, electric, and acoustic guitars; keys; banjo; drums; and bass.</strong> Our work goes beyond our music: we are dedicated to advocating for and cultivating our LGBTQIA2S+ communities while bringing all people together through Understanding, Love, Awareness, Inclusivity, and Solidarity.
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>Since starting this project, <a href="https://queercountrymusic.com/past-shows/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">we’ve been honored to play</a> numerous local venues, a couple local music festivals, and even a gig down in the Bay Area! Whether you’ve been with us since our first show as Abraham &amp; Quinn, saw us first as the trio Queer Country after Matt joined, or started following along more recently since we realized our full sound after Reyna Cinnamon joined us in June of last year, we are so grateful for your loving support. It is and has always been our honor and pleasure to work to create a new and unique sound &amp; space for you.
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>At shows and in the community, many of you have asked us where you can find our music recorded. We have dreamed of having an answer to this call, of finding the right opportunity to make a record that will really be from Queer Country—reflecting both the breadth of our sound and the social spirit that drives us.
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>To this end, <strong>we are beyond excited to announce that we will be making our first record in May 2025!</strong> Collaborating with Executive Producer Jah Work, we have been given the incredible opportunity to work with <a href="https://www.discogs.com/artist/196031-Oz-Fritz?srsltid=AfmBOopnSgiDL9SgTpg0MCX1HZIGfJQh-vzHjxY5aNm5Oaxru1HCIDaa&amp;superFilter=Credits" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Grammy-winning sound engineer</a> and all-around <a href="https://oz-mix.blogspot.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">fascinating human Oz Fritz</a> (Tom Waits' Alice &amp; The Mule Variations, Iggy Pop, The Ramones) at <a href="https://www.ancientwavestudios.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Ancient Wave Studios</a> in the Sierra Foothills over Memorial Day weekend. Oz will be recording, engineering, and co-producing the project. <strong>We plan to lock in and work hard to produce an EP of four to five of your favorite original QC songs to be released later in Summer 2025!</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Oz and Jah Work have collaborated for over 20 years to record music from many spectacular artists including <a href="https://sgtsplendor.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sgt Splendor</a> feat. <a href="https://ericmcfadden.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Eric McFadden</a> and <a href="https://katevargas.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Kate Vargas</a>, Eric McFadden, <a href="https://www.wallyingram.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Wally Ingram</a>, <a href="https://kebmo.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Keb Mo</a>, <a href="https://lesclaypool.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Les Claypool</a>, <a href="https://petesears.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pete Sears</a>, <a href="https://juan.benharper.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Juan Nelson</a>, <a href="https://widespreadpanic.com/band/daveschools/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dave Schools</a>, and <a href="https://soundcloud.com/bravomax" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bravo, Max</a>! They are both honored and thrilled to be going into Ancient Wave to capture Queer Country's first record.
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div><strong>This opportunity feels like something out of our wildest dreams, and we need your help to make it a reality!</strong> While our goal of $15,000.00 may seem like a pie in the sky, we want you to understand something about the kind of costs associated with making an album. Your donations will help to cover the costs of:
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>•	Recording/Mixing
</div>
<div>•	Studio &amp; Sound Engineer Time
</div>
<div>•	Mastering
</div>

</div>
<div>•	Touring Costs, including travel, lodging, booking agents, etc.
</div>

<div>My name is Harm Astrano a gay man in East African Refugee Camp passing on this message seeking for support and advocacy creating awareness of what i and my fellow LGBTQIA+ asylum seekers and refugees are currently facing and going through.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Update: Harm was severely beaten day before yesterday because of his gender identity. He is in the hospital but they're not providing him all the services he needs because he needs to pay for his medical bills. Harm has severely damaged eye in need of surgery. The surgery will cost over $1,000. We are in dire need of raising funds for Harm so that he can pay his medical bills and recover from severe eye injury and other injuries that was done to him. Please consider donating today.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Update: Harm is recovering well from his injuries and is on the mend. Thank you for all your support during this difficult time. Recently Harm's phone was stolen but we were able to replace it with the kind donations from people like you. Thank you for all your donations. It's really helped the whole group!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Dear friends and supporters,
</div>
<div>I hope this update finds you well. We are writing to urgently seek your assistance for our monthly food and medication needs. We are incredibly grateful for the support we received on our GoFundMe page last month, which has helped us immensely. However, we still require additional support for our ongoing food and medication requirements, particularly for those living with HIV. We have recently received the promising news that the German government is offering us resettlement opportunities, which is a great relief. However, the current situation in our host country has led to a severe scarcity of food and medications, especially for those with HIV. In order to ensure their continued treatment, we are relying on private clinics due to the violence and discrimination faced in government hospitals. LGBTQ refugees are particularly vulnerable to discrimination, torture, rape, and harassment. We humbly request your support by considering a donation to our GoFundMe page, as every contribution counts in making a significant difference in the lives of those affected. Thanks so much.

<div>Supporting LGBTQIA+ Refugees in East African Refugee Camp Restoring Hope, Dignity, and Equality
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Welcome to our fundraising campaign, where we seek your support in making a tangible difference in the lives of LGBTQIA+ individuals living in the East African Refugee Camp. This camp presents a challenging environment characterized by a hostile community, scarcity of water, and extreme climatic conditions. As LGBTQIA+ persons, we face unrelenting brutality, discrimination, violence, persecution, and torture from fellow refugees due to their hateful and homophobic beliefs. We are reaching out to compassionate individuals like you to help us overcome the immense hardships we endure and restore hope, dignity, and equality in our lives.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The Challenges We Face:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>1. Violence and Discrimination: Living in a hostile environment, we confront daily threats to our safety and well-being solely because of our sexual orientation. Homophobic refugees subject us to physical, emotional, and psychological violence, perpetuating a cycle of discrimination that exacerbates our suffering.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>2. Unemployment and Economic Disadvantage: Discrimination extends to the job market and refugee centers, severely limiting employment opportunities for LGBTQIA+ individuals. The resulting unemployment further compounds our vulnerability and restricts access to essential resources and services.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>3. Limited Access to Basic Necessities: The camp's harsh conditions pose additional challenges as we struggle with insufficient food, clothing, clean water, and vital nutrition. Basic necessities such as cooking essentials, toothpaste, and pads for lesbians are luxuries we often lack, leaving us in a perpetual state of hardship.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>4. Health and Safety Risks: The semi-arid climate of East African Refugee Camp is host to sharp sticks and poisonous creatures, including scorpions, endangering our lives on a daily basis. Access to proper medical care is limited, exposing us to various health risks and making it difficult to address both physical and mental health concerns.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our call from you our fellow LGBTQIA+ people and well wishers
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are reaching out to you, kind-hearted individuals and organizations who recognize that love knows no boundaries. By contributing to our fundraising efforts, you can help alleviate the suffering of LGBTQIA+ individuals in East African Refugee Camp and restore hope to our lives. Your support, no matter how small, will have a meaningful impact on our vulnerable community. Together, we can effect positive change and foster an environment of acceptance, understanding, and equality.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>How Your Donation Will Make a Difference:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>1. Safety and Security: Your donations will enable us to establish safe spaces within the camp, where LGBTQIA+ individuals can find solace, support, and protection from violence and discrimination. We will work towards fostering an environment that values diversity and promotes acceptance.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>2. Empowerment and Education: By investing in educational programs and vocational training, we can empower LGBTQIA+ individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to secure employment and become self-sufficient. This will enable us to break the cycle of poverty and dependency.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>3. Access to Basic Necessities: Your generous contributions will help us provide essential resources such as food, clothing, clean water, cooking essentials, toiletries, and other daily necessities that are currently lacking in our lives. Together, we can ensure that no LGBTQIA+ person in East African Refugee Camp goes without these vital provisions.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>4. Healthcare
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With your support, we aim to provide accessible healthcare facilities to our fellow LGBTQIA+ asylum seekers who get left outside the line of receiving proper medical care due to the discrimination and persecution that extends up to the all refugee medical centers.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Conclusion:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As members of the LGBTQIA+ community, we are forced to endure unimaginable hardships and discrimination in East African Refugee Camp. Your support can make a difference by providing hope, dignity, and equality to LGBTQIA+ individuals who are suffering in silence. We seek for all your support , please share this information as you help us create a voice of awareness

My name is Patricia Kennealy Morrison, and I'm an author with 18 books out.  Some of you might know me from my novels (a science-fantasy series called The Keltiad, a mystery series called "The Rock &amp; Roll Murders"), a memoir called  "Strange Days: My Life with and without Jim Morrison" or  "Rock Chick: A Girl and Her Music", a compilation of my columns and articles from my days as a rock critic); or from Oliver Stone's movie "The Doors", in which I am portrayed by actress Kathleen Quinlan and also appear in a cameo. <br /><br />I also had a career in record company advertising, in which I wrote campaigns for some of the biggest stars around in the 1970s: I created David Bowie's first four campaigns ("Hunky Dory" through "Pin Ups", and worked with David personally), and did ads for everyone from Billy Joel (two Clio nominations), Paul McCartney and Barbra Streisand to Mott the Hoople, James Taylor and Tangerine Dream.<br />Then I started writing books instead.<br /><br />Walking down First Avenue a week ago, I took a bad step, much like a racehorse except I wasn't going NEARLY so fast.  Much to my surprise, when I caught myself up before I fell on my face, I discovered that my foot was, basically, hanging off my leg in  two pieces---the classic, and quite horrifically named, "foot drop". <br /><br />I had torn my Achilles tendon clean off the bone, and only thanks to the kindness of two strangers did I manage to literally crawl into a cab and around the corner to Mount Sinai Beth Israel, where they gave me the happy news: I wouldn't need to be put down like Ruffian, but I would have to go straight into a walking  boot---big Robocop thing---to mitigate further damage, and then I would need crutches, a walker,  a knee scooter, surgery, a hard cast, and weeks, if not months, of rehab. A very costly prospect.<br /><br />Since I live alone, I have no one to help out with the medical stuff and even things like paying bills, etc. I won't be able to work outside my apartment, and all I can do will be to stay home and write and deal with rehab and depend on neighbors and friends to do the smallest of things, like shop for me and collect the mail and schlep the laundry around the corner. <br /><br />And it gets more ridiculous still. and much more dramatic and dangerous: early in December I collapsed in the street and was taken to hospital by ambulance. Diagnosis: A large saddle pulmonary embolism, and if I hadn't gone to the hospital I would have DIED. <br /><br />So now I have to go on Eliquis, an extremely expensive blood thinner medication ($450 a month!), which I have only been able to afford so far because of your incredibly generous donations. We're working on ways to get it more cheaply, but for the moment, that's it.<br /><br />I have insurance and Medicare, but the bills outside the policy are already mounting up. So much as I hate to ask for help, I must. I wouldn't expect much: the cost of a Starbucks double chocolate chip creme frappuccino, maybe. The cost of lunch for one at Burger King. If anyone wanted to donate more, that would be a total mitzvah. (Even though I'm not Jewish.) That's what the donations would go for; if anything was left over, I would hope to be able to turn it over to help other people in similar unexpected need.<br /><br />I could offer small rewards like autographed bookplates or an autographed paperback. For larger contributions, a signed personalized hardcover of your choice;  maybe some collector would be interested in copies of my Bowie ads, for instance, one of which was included in the much-praised traveling museum exhibit, "David Bowie Is", displayed right next to one of his Ziggy costumes, boots and all. <br />Really significant donations could be thanked by cameo appearances in future books, either the Keltiad series or the Rennie Stride rock&amp;roll murder mysteries, or even suggested plotlines starring yourself backstage at the Fillmore East hanging with legendary bands or off in interstellar outer space as a dashing starship commander or intergalactic royalty. Or as a Viking warrior or wench in 9th-century England, in the current work in progress. All negotiable.<br /><br />As I said above, I hate to ask. But it would be nice to be able to walk again, and however much you guys out there could help with this would be more appreciated than you can imagine. I know that so many people here have far, far more disastrous needs and calamitous stories, and I've donated to help them in my time, as and when I can. So all I can say is that I would be most thankful for any kind of assistance with this total and unexpected emergency. It's going to be a long and difficult haul. And, of course, blessings to you even just for good and healing thoughts. Thank you.
