<div>Hello everyone my name is Elizabeth Bourgeau. I'm the eldest daughter of Desiree Samuels-Gilbert. Our mom Desiree was diagnosed with Invasive Squamous Cell Carsinoma little over a month ago. This has been and will be the hardest trial our mom has ever been through. She is our rock and our backbone in our family after we lost our grandma. She holds us together when times are hard and now it's our job to hold our mom together and get her through this battle the best way we know how.

<div>August 16th she will be having surgery to remove part of her tongue and all the lymphnodes in her neck area, along with the reconstructive surgery for her tongue. This surgery is going to be beyond painful and take about 2 months to heal. In that time she will be unable to make any income as her income is solely made by her craft of beading. She uses her hands and sits hours upon hours creating beautiful beadwork for people to enjoy all across the country.

<div>During the 8 weeks after surgery she will be able to bead, which means zero income for bills or basic needs. We will help, as her children, with everything we can but it's going to expensive. 
</div>
<div>She will be on a soft food diet and unable to talk. Most everything will be prepared and then made soft for her to ingest, if she can tolerate resting. She may also need to have a feeding tube depending on the severity of pain and if she will need radiation. If radiation is required she then for sure need a feeding tube.

<div>This is all going to be a long road for our mom but she is one tough woman. The toughest I know. 
</div>
