<div>For those who do not know me, I am Amanda Bourdy. I am Jim and Allie's sister-in-law in NJ. Jim Bourdy gave me permission to post this.

<div>For those who do not know yet, <strong>Jim and Allie Bourdy sustained unimaginable loss today.</strong> Hurricane Helene hit North Carolina, causing massive, devastating destruction. No one could imagine this would happen. North Carolina has not seen this level of flooding in over 100 years.
</div>

<div>Jim, Allie, and Piper attempted to leave early this morning and were surrounded by 3-4 feet of water. Left with no other choice, they had to return home. The flood became so bad they had to use workout foam blocks as flotation devices and were able to make it to a neighbor's roof where they waited for help. All the while, waters continued to rise, reaching just under the gutters of the roof they were on! I can not imagine the fear they were experienced. Thankfully, a kayaker was able to get Jim, Allie, Piper, and the neighbor to safety, one by one.

<div><strong>Jim and Allie lost everything.</strong> The contents of the home they loved, 2 cars, and every irreplaceable possession they owned! (The full extent of the damage is still to be assessed). They escaped with only the clothes on their backs, but thankfully they are all safe! They will need help rebuilding their lives. For all that know Jim and Allie, you know what an amazing couple they are. They are always helping others out, always a ray of light! Lets make this horrible experience into something a little less horrible.

Any money collected will go to Jim, Allie and Piper Bourdy to help finance whatever they will need. <div>Our family has recently experienced a devastating loss. Hurricane Helene struck our home town of Swannanoa, NC with catastrophic flooding that left us without a house to live in. We were able to get ourselves, our 7 year-old son, our cat Rush, and a few belongings out to safety before the storm hit, but we have lost nearly all of our possessions that stayed behind in our house.

<div>We are grateful that we are all safe, but now we face the daunting task of rebuilding our lives from scratch. The cost of recovering from this disaster is overwhelming, and we are reaching out for help to cover essential expenses like temporary housing, basic necessities, rebuilding our lives and replacing our home.

Help the Wood family after losing their home to Helene

<div>*UPDATE* Insurance has denied Elizabeth’s claim on her house as she did not hold flood insurance. The amount that it will require financially to replace not only her home but all of her belongings in it is huge. Please continue to donate.

<div>As Hurricane Helene left its wake of destruction in WNC, it has left many like Elizabeth with an unbelievable task of trying to identify next steps after complete destruction of their home. Liz is a single mom, labor and delivery nurse, and nurse mid-wife student (soon to be graduate). Thankfully Liz and her daughter Natalie were able to escape their home just hours before it was completely submerged with water. As a result, their house is in a complete state of destruction as are their belongings. As a long-time friend of Liz I would love to see some funds raised for her and Natalie as they navigate these difficult next several months.

<div>My name is Jessica Allred. I am creating this fundraiser to help support my sister and brother-in-law who have lost everything they own due to horrendous flooding in Swannanoa, NC, caused by Hurricane Helene.

<div>I received a FaceTime call at 8:26 AM from my sister today letting me know that they were trapped in their house. She said the water was already up to the trunk of her GMC SUV, and she knew they needed to be evacuated, but she could not get her calls for help to go through.
</div>

<div>At 9:15, she called back screaming that water was flooding into the house. She was in total panic and yelled for me to call 911. My location is two hours from her and in a different state. I called 911, and my dispatcher sent the call to Charlotte. The dispatcher in Charlotte routed the call to a dispatcher in Buncombe County. The dispatcher told me everyone in the area needed the same thing and for them to hold on, that help was coming.

<div>I tried calling them back to let them know, but no one answered. I called over and over but never got an answer.
</div>

<div>I now know that around the same time I was on the phone with 911, my brother-in-law got a call in to 911, too. They advised him to get everyone into the attic. My sister, brother-in-law, nephews (ages 7 and 2), and their pets got into the attic as water took over their home.
</div>

</div>
<div>At 11:20, my sister called to say a neighbor had rescued them using a kayak. She and my nephews were out and at a house on another street. The kayaking neighbor was going back for my brother-in-law. I hope he was able to save their pets, too.
</div>

<div>I still do not know the outcome.
</div>

<div>I haven't heard from them again. Not knowing is hard. But, it is nothing compared to what they are enduring today and what they will be going through in the coming weeks.
</div>
