<div>"Once upon a time, in the bustling city of Hanoi, Vietnam, there lived a vibrant and passionate 29-year-old young man named Must. A dedicated expat English teacher, Must had a heart of gold before becoming an English teacher. He spent six years of his life devoted to social work, nurturing the youth in his community, and helping them develop their personalities and skills as he worked for a noble Non-profit organization for peace, leaving an indelible mark of compassion and service.

<div>One fateful day, while immersed in his fulfilling role as a teacher, Must felt an unfamiliar pain in his spine. Initially dismissing it as exhaustion from his demanding schedule, he soldiered on, hoping it would pass. But as the pain persisted, he knew it was something more.

</div>
<div>His intuition proved correct. The pain intensified, and Must's once energetic spirit started to wane. With great concern, he sought medical advice, leading to a series of exhaustive scans and analyses. Eventually, he had to make a heart-wrenching decision to leave Vietnam behind and return to his homeland, Morocco, where he could lean on the support of his beloved family and friends.

<div>Upon arriving in Morocco, Must embarked on a new chapter of his life, a chapter he never anticipated or desired. The medical expenses quickly drained his bank account, but he knew he had no choice but to fight this battle head-on. The doctors diagnosed a grave condition: cancer had taken root in his spine vertebrae, causing severe damage. The only option was urgent and critical spinal surgery to prevent paralysis.

<div>As he emerged from the surgery, Must's physical pain was relieved, but his emotional and mental fortitude was put to the ultimate test. The journey ahead was arduous and uncertain. Months of diagnoses and medical tests ensued, as the doctors struggled to pinpoint the elusive nature of his cancer. Misunderstandings and confusion within medical circles added to the challenge, as the disease did not present itself clearly in his blood.

<div>Eventually, a breakthrough emerged. The doctors discovered that the cancer had invaded Must's bone marrow, spreading its malevolent roots throughout his skeleton. The pain he endured was unimaginable, particularly in the lower part of his body, where it caused sensory compression and numbed even the most intimate parts of his being.

<div>With his unwavering spirit, Must confronted the terrifying truth and embarked on his first round of chemotherapy. The road ahead was paved with uncertainties, but he refused to let fear overshadow his determination. Five sessions of radiotherapy followed, further testing his endurance.
</div>

<div>Throughout this harrowing journey, Must's indomitable spirit remained unshaken. Drawing strength from the support of his loved ones and the compassion of well-wishers, he resolved to embrace each day with hope and resilience. He knew the path to healing would be long, fraught with hurdles and financial burdens, but Must was determined to fight for his life and continue his meaningful work, even in the face of adversity.

<div>On September 9, 2023 tragedy struck the life of a 26 year old nursing student. Ciara is a kind and selfless woman who recently got married. On this day, Ciara and her husband Jacob took her 10 year old brother to the park. A night that was full of laughs and memories. While merging onto the freeway they were hit in the rear. This small fender bender caused them to pull off into the shoulder of the freeway to exchange information. While on the side of the freeway, an impaired driver smashed into them going 65 MPH. After the accident, paramedics found Ciara 20 feet from the crash site. Four people were hit by the driver, and they were all transported to the trauma center. This includes Ciara and Jacob. Jacob suffered from multiple scrapes, bruises and a back injury. Ciara was the only one out of the four not discharged from the hospital the same night of the accident. Instead she was in critical condition in the Trauma ICU. Her injuries include a brain bleed, punctured lung, partially torn ACL, strained ligaments in her leg, multiple facial fractures and bruising all over the body. Ciara had to have immediate surgery to reconstruct her face. This left her with four metal plates in her cheeks to repair her shattered bones, metal plates bolted to her jaw, and a jaw wired shut to repair her broken palate. She will later need corrective surgery to help repair her septum, which was broken in three different places. The road to recovery is long, but Ciara's strength and determination inspires her family to keep pushing forward. Her family is seeking help to make this tragedy a little bit easier. While recovering, Ciara and Jacob will be out of work and will need help covering their medical expenses. Together, we can be the light at the end of the tunnel for Ciara and Jacob. Every little bit counts and will make a huge impact on their lives. Thank you for being a part of this journey.

Bernie, was an incredible husband, father, son, uncle and grandpa. He served in the US Army then became a Naval Electrician at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, CA and later an electrician at The Sierra Army Depot in Herlong, CA. He was a caring man who was always willing to help in any way that he could. He will be missed dearly by his family and all of those who loved him!
