This house was Anthony’s parents’ before Jisung and his family moved in— filled with two generations’ memories, Jisung, Anthony, Karina and Fiona’s priceless artwork, and so much more.

<div>On September 19th 2024, my family’s life changed forever.

<div>My son Vernon collapsed at home, unable to walk, and was rushed to the emergency room. Doctors informed us that his HIV had led to life-threatening complications, requiring emergency brain surgery. Meningitis fluid had spread to his spine and brain, causing him to lose mobility in his legs.

<div>Currently, my beloved son is bravely fighting for his life in the ICU, enduring a series of devastating health challenges. Recently, we were informed that his condition has worsened—he has suffered multiple strokes, leading to the loss of his hearing and further setbacks to his recovery.

<div>With the holidays approaching, the financial burden of mounting medical expenses, specialized care, and the daily hour-long commutes to be by his side has been overwhelming. We are seeking support to help cover these costs and ensure Vernon gets the care he desperately needs to reclaim his life.

Support Two Trans Women Facing Homelessness

<div>Hello friends. As most of you may or may not know, Randy has been in and out of the hospital in the last couple several years probably more than all of us have gone out to dinner combined! Randy has undergone multiple surgeries to overcome multiple life-threatening issues every Holiday Season. Last year he was in a coma from Christmas Eve to New Years Eve. He continues to keep his head held high, but it has really taken a toll on his finances and the overwhelming medical bills associated with it. He is not one to ask for help and will probably be pissed that I'm doing this, but oh well! He has been recently diagnosed with stage 3 cancer and the survival rate of the dangerous surgery with all of his high risk complications is 50/50. Surgery will likely take place early December at University of PENN, again during another Holiday season with a very long and complicated recovery time. <strong>He is not able to work or produce any income at this time and probably will not be able to do so for quite some time.</strong>

<div>Randy served our country in the US Military, is a Veteran, Grandfather, Husband, and so much more. <strong>If you can find it in your heart to help, I know they would be more than appreciative and thankful to only have to focus on healing and recovery instead of burdened by bills.</strong>

</div>
<div>Due to the fact that Randy is extremely high risk for such an invasive surgery, the Tumor Board recommended a PET Scan to make sure the cancer did not spread outside the region of the tumor. He had the Scan. This metastatic cancer has quickly spread to about 15 Lymph Nodes near the Aorta outside of the “Tumor Region”. Because of this, surgery is off the table for now.

<div> Although he is searching for a more holistic treatment, the plan right now is that he will begin aggressive chemotherapy at University of Pennsylvania within the next two weeks with the hope of getting rid of the cancer in the lymph nodes. If that happens, they will revisit the possibility of the WHIPPLE Surgery to remove the ampullary tumor which is the only life saving mission for this kind of tumor.

<div>Randy’s pain is being managed as best as possible and he is trying to come to terms with not being able to work which is all he knows how to do. His ongoing, life threatening illnesses have hindered his ability to earn an income which has also greatly impacted his LIVE Events business where he was the producer of all the grand concepts, his little restaurant where he loved to cook, and the flooring business which was forced to close all because he can longer work or stand for more than 5 minutes. His wife has been his primary caretaker through it all making it impossible to make an income. He has a long rough road ahead of him where he will need to devote himself full time to his health. It’s the Christmas Season and he is sick and discouraged. Our kindness and support will help him through this difficult time.

Stand with Randy: A Veteran's Fight for Life

<div>Greetings to all of you wonderful people. This is Janice and Francis Dauw on the Big Island. We have started a GoFundMe page for our daughter, <strong>Lorraine Dauw Gladden, her husband, Jason, and their three sons, William, Garrison, and Anders.</strong>

<div>Lorraine and her family live in Asheville, North Carolina, and like the entire community, Hurricane Helene's disastrous impact continues to have a ripple effect on their lives. They do have homeowners insurance, but because the city of Asheville is at 2,385 feet and their home is built up against a hill, they did not have flood insurance.

</div>

<div>Four huge old oak trees fell in their yard, two on their house, and one on their shed and chicken coop. The weight of the trees on the roof caused the main rafters and support beams to split and the roof to leak. The hillside gave way, and the basement and the main floor of the house were flooded. They have had a licensed contractor look at the damage; he estimated $60,000 for repairs on the house. Lorraine and Jason are handy and plan to do much of the inside repairs themselves, but the cost of dealing with all the tree cleanup is monumental, not to mention the new roof and new flooring needed throughout the entire house due to flooding.

<div>Thus far, FEMA has given them enough money to make their home “liveable,” which was $3,000 for flood repairs. Lorraine and Jason are negotiating with the insurance companies to cover more of the damage caused by the trees; however, to date, coverage has been largely insufficient to repair all of the damage.

<div>On a different note, Jason and Lorraine run two warehouse liquidation stores that sell bargain foods and household supplies. Both stores were doing well before Hurricane Helene. Unfortunately, the storm knocked out power and closed roads. Once roads were cleared and the stores could reopen, lack of power prevented the use of debit or credit cards and threatened significant loss of refrigerated and frozen products. When community members couldn’t access cash, and the lights were out, Lorraine and Jason donated perishable goods and had shoppers use headlamps to find needed supplies. A steady flow of people arrived at their doors begging for food and supplies; <strong>Lorraine and Jason eventually donated over $100,000 of product to help support their community in crisis.</strong>

<div>Francis and I have been thinking about how we can help Lorraine and her family, and quite a few people suggested this GoFundMe platform.

Support Lorraine's and Jason's Family After Hurricane Helene

<div>Long story, short-- In December 2023 Hollan was diagnosed with Small Cell Carcinoma of the Ovary Hypocalcemic Type (SCCOHT), an extremely rare and aggressive ovarian cancer. Due to the rareness of this type of cancer, most doctors have not/will not ever treat it. We were lucky to find Dr. Joseph Pressey, who specializes in SCCOHT at Cincinnati Children's Hospital in Ohio. Hollan's wonderful team of doctors at UAB have been collaborating with Dr. Pressey and have been combining treatment regimens that UAB has never done before. Hollan will be the reason many women who are also affected by this horrible cancer will have access to this treatment regimen at UAB.

<div>Due to this collaboration, the most significant parts of Hollan's aggressive treatment will be done in Cincinnati and we will have to temporarily relocate to ensure the highest quality of care.
</div>

<div>As you can imagine, the cost of lodging and travel will be a huge cost for Hollan and our family. Hollan has also experienced serious hearing loss from one of her chemotherapy drugs which has significantly impacted her hearing and she will be getting custom hearing aids.

<div>Cancer may think it's tough, but it's got nothing on the power of love and friendship, right? We are not ones to ask for help often, but this time, we are waving the white flag and calling in the cavalry. Yesterday one of my closest friends, Blake Bailey, passed away unexpectedly. He was loved by all who knew him. He was an amazing husband, son, brother, and friend. God has called him home, but those of us who are still here mourn his loss.
