<div>My name is Sarah, I'm from London Ontario and I’ve created this fundraiser to support my family when they exit Gaza. Canada will introduce an immigration stream to support temporary residence for extended family members in Gaza who are related to Canadian citizens and permanent residents on January 9, 2024.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The funds collected through GoFundMe will be used to support my mother’s family as well as my sister in law's family. My mother will invite her sister and two sons whose medical education were abruptly stopped due to the war. My sister in law's immediate family consists of 15 members - her parents, siblings, their spouses, and children. Continuous nights of air strikes and attacks have left her family members with no choice but to leave their homes, all partially or completely destroyed. The young children might not understand what is happening, but they see the destruction. They hear everything that is happening around them, the air strikes, the cries for help. And they feel the terror, the food insecurity, and the helplessness.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>All these families left behind everything, and are now displaced in Rafah, living in terribly unsafe conditions, with no end in sight to the rising tensions.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The funds will be used for travel and resettlement costs to help my mom and sister-in-law's family establish themselves in Canada. Such costs include a temporary stay in Egypt, passports, flights, clothing, and housing in Canada.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>For full transparency, this is how we’ve attained the chosen fundraising amount (please note this is an estimate):
</div>
<div>- Transportation and housing in Egypt for 2 weeks to process visas $100x14 days = $1400
</div>
<div>- Flight tickets from Cairo to Toronto $1000x18 people= $18,000
</div>
<div>- Financial responsibility for resettlement in Canada $3000x13 adults + $1500x5 children = $46,500
</div>
<div>- Visa applications and biometrics for all $4000
</div>
<div>- Approximately $1500 to cover GoFundMe's Transaction fees. The transaction fee (2.9%+$0.30 per donation).
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As a Canadian citizen myself, for months we have felt limited in what we can do to help families in Gaza and so we have an opportunity to make a direct difference to and for these families. I will be personally monitoring the donation page. I am committed to maintaining full transparency, so please ask any questions you may have. I humbly ask for your help sharing the fundraiser with your friends and family.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We recognize the difficulty in exiting Gaza. In the case that our family is unable to safely exit Gaza, the funds will be sent through a secure means to help our families living in Gaza (housing, food, medical assistance etc.) Please be comforted in the knowledge that your money will be making a difference in many peoples lives.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My family and I thank you in advance for your compassion and support as well as for standing in solidarity with us as we pray that we can bring our family safely, together, to Canada.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With warm gratitude

<div><strong>[Barrow's surgeon shows me that larger tumor is evident (white nodule) in this uploaded 2012 MRI Record]</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I have a story for those who have loved ones who have endured undiagnosed, chronic health problems and have been frustrated having spent too much time, energy, and money ‘chasing the cure’.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>First, it is my sincere wish for all that no one will ever experience the degradation and mishaps that I have experienced. As a result of being misdiagnosed over and over through the years, I have undergone wrong treatments and procedures and have wasted ten years of my life - a lot of time and money. I have trod from doctor to doctor, institute to institute, in search for an answer and cure. A well-known neurologist in Switzerland even told me, “Don’t look for God" or answers, meaning I should just accept my miserable condition in life. My long journey will end when I have given up all hope because my financial resources are completely depleted from medical bills. Through my pain, my music came as an expression of my voice to stand up for the injustice of the healthcare system. I was a Music and East Asian Languages and Civilizations joint concentrator at Harvard College and I combine my Western-Eastern background in the music I create. I had several past doctors say that my sickness was a result of psychosis and my mind breaking down since their knowledge was insufficient for my case. Through divine intervention perhaps, I found a neurosurgeon who could help me after ten years of misdiagnoses. He is one of a few to do endoscopic skull base procedures. If I had stayed with my first surgeon, the incision would have been double the size. I am grateful to have found the surgeon I needed although it was a circuitous route. The surgery was on 6 November 2019 at Banner University Medical Center Phoenix. I had a ten day stay in the ICU and acute rehab hospital and am still in outpatient therapy locally for vestibular, neck pain, and speech. I am being seen by a pain management doctor and he is sending me around to see some other doctors before treatment. I was a professional violinist but I currently do not play violin because of my continual severe imbalance and chronic pain. My dream would be to play again onstage.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I was diagnosed with two brain tumors, one on the hearing/balance nerve and growing in the inner auditory canal - an acoustic neuroma-type. I have had this tumor for many years and have gone to some of the best hospitals across the USA. However, it was just discovered in February/March of 2019 at Barrow (BNI). The tumor was clearly present on my 2012 brain MRI at a famous out-of-state institution, but the doctors missed it and the tumor had doubled in size. Over the years I accumulated dozens of doctors at different hospitals while searching for an answer to my imbalance and chronic neck pain/problems. There were multiple misdiagnoses, including one of movement disorder and I was frequently injected with large amounts of Botox at this famous institution. Previously, I also tried extensively acupuncture, acupressure, high-grade Chinese medicine, and other holistic therapies to no avail. The two local skull base surgeons I finally saw recommended that I remove the larger left-sided tumor. The first surgeon said there was a 50% chance of hearing loss after surgery and the neuro otologist informed me one ear could hear one pitch and the other ear could hear a different pitch (diplacusis). This might not be a big deal to most people, but since I am a musician, violinist, and composer/producer, it mattered to me, especially since I have perfect pitch. Over time, radiation would likely produce hearing loss and prevent future tumor removal. If I did nothing, I would lose hearing slowly but permanently. A second smaller right-sided tumor, 'clinoid', was recently discovered on the optic nerve and carotid artery. This will be monitored to see if it grows. Radiation is not an option since it will cause loss of sight. A doctor spotted it at the skull base panel at the local hospital last July. I am not a newcomer to surgeries. When a person is sick for an extended time, he begins to learn a lot about illnesses on his own. I have had four jaw surgeries for medical necessity, two were major. I sometimes find it hard to believe that with all the imaging done on the jaw for the double jaw surgery at that same institution, they again missed the tumor then too.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I have created this fund to support my quest to cure my illness, to shut the door on misdiagnoses and the stonewalling from the medical community. It was quite a stressful process to see an appropriate surgeon; some refused to see me. I encountered extreme chaos on both insurance and doctor sides. I propose in addition to help paying my exorbitant insurance premiums, $1900/month, $10,000 individual deductible, I will use the funds to start a foundation to help individuals with rare, undiagnosed illnesses navigate through the unwieldy waters of an unregulated, bureaucratic healthcare system. Thank you for your support!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Recently, I have discovered that the severe chronic neck comes from my TMJ, I have had an arthrocentesis and am scheduled for an arthroscopy (joint being locked). This would not matter so much if I were not a violinist. Also having Ehlers-Danlo syndrome makes my joints susceptible to damage because of hyper-mobility. Please support my medical journey as I try to bring you the best in live, classical, classical crossover, mixed-genre music in multiple instruments.

</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
