<div>I am a U.S citizen and Tahani Shorbajee is my aunt who resides in Gaza with her husband, 3 children, alongside her parents, three brothers, and one sister.

<div>They have tragically become victims of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza, which has left their once beautiful, “dream home” demolished to rubble and ashes. In this war, her house and company were destroyed, (see photos).

<div>She lost everything and nothing remained for her. She loved her job and she loved her home.

<div>My goal in communicating is to urgently raise funds to help her family. They are in desperate need.

<div>She wants to travel to Egypt to keep her family safe, after her children contracted hepatitis from water pollution in the war and they lost lots of weight after being nearly starved to death with limited access to food due to the control on aid trucks by Israel.

<div>The atrocious war in Gaza destroyed everything, even their healths, leaving her and her family living in a tent, (thin white sheet) in the outskirts of Rafah for 6 months. It costs $5,000 per adult to leave Gaza and $2,500 per child.

Hey again folks, I'm back with another update--good and bad news, but please read to the end!<br /><br /><br />I'm going to start with the bad news here. Originally when this campaign started, I planned about a two year run to get us the funding we needed for our project. In an ideal world we would have had the backing of another nonprofit, or at least been in process to file for nonprofit status by this point. Failing that, I would just see if donations could get us to the amount we needed to make that happen. These plans were all being made in November, in a world where I once thought covid would come and go, and life would be normal again. Clearly, that did not happen. I've been fully unable to get into contact with lawyers, despite the begging and pleading. I assume they're swamped as everyone else is at the moment. I've run into similar situations with speaking to similar nonprofits. I'm told I'm doing great work, but they can't help me. And that's understandable. Everyone is up to their neck in trouble right now, I know I am. I'm a freelance artist trying to keep a roof over my head. And I know that the money we raised needs to go somewhere, quickly.  <br /><br /><br />The fact of the matter is, this beautiful dream of safe housing for Two Spirit people in need throughout the midwest simply cannot become a reality right now. Our hearts were in the right place, but this is a project that will have to be revisited in the future. To put this quite simply, we are not going to reach that goal, short of a miracle. But for Two Spirit and transgender Indigenous people in the midwest, we have the ability to offer a different miracle. None of the funds from this campaign have been used yet. I would like to offer that anyone who would like their donations be refunded can feel free to contact me for it, no questions asked. All remaining funds will be put toward direct aid in the hands of Indigenous Two Spirit people who need it, with emphasis placed on those located in the midwest.<br /><br /><br />Now for the actual good news! An individual who I respect the work of so much, Tuck Woodstock, has been running transgender oriented mutual aid programs for some time now. Their work has been crucial during the pandemic, when more transgender folks than ever are finding themselves in need. I originally came into contact with Tuck through their podcast, Gender Reveal, and have considered myself a huge fan ever since. Frustrating as it may be to put this campaign to bed, I’m elated to announce that the funds from this campaign will be directly going to help Two Spirit and Indigenous transgender folks who already reached out to Tuck’s campaign. We’re still working out the kinks, but the remaining funds after any refunds are given out will be given to Two Spirit and transgender Indigenous folks in the form of rolling grants, until the funds have been used up. <br /><br /><br />I want to thank you all who have stuck with me from the bottom of my heart. We pushed, we tried our best, but I believe it’s in everyone’s best interest that we help people who need it now, rather than keep grinding away without the funds to make this a success. We couldn’t have gotten as far as we did if it was just me crying alone on the internet! So chi miigwetch. CAMPAIGN ENDING--please read description

As Fires have struck the East Coast of this sacred land recently it has lead to significant  destruction and loss of masses of flora and fauna and saddly the lives of peoples.  Very saddly, many First Nations people's have been affected by these tragic circumstances with losses of homes/ severe damage to property and important parts of the landscape .  Many of these community have now been forced to evacuate the region's of their homes and forced to seek temporary / ongoing living arrangements in other parts of Victoria and NSW .<br /><br />As a result of this, this  is a fundraiser  initiated and maintained by myself Neil Morris a Yorta Yorta , First Nations man. I am a community rights and empowerment advocate for my fellow First Nations peoples. In my work in this capacity, I  have developed this Fundraiser with direct consultation with and upon the request of Fire affected First Nations Communities across Eastern parts of so called Australia  such as Gippsland and the South Coast of NSW . This includes those whom have lost their homes and been forced to evacuate to other regions . <br /><br />The aim of this fundraiser is to offer a culturally sensitive , specific direct  support to some of those communities with critical costs to cover expenses including the following <br /><br />- temporary relocation costs (hotel expenses ,fuel ,possible medical needs) <br /><br />-other basic amenity and emergency relief costs  to assist with this very difficult time such as clothing , miscellaneous vital personal items. <br /><br />-refurbishment of damaged property where applicable <br /><br />-resettling expenses where applicable<br /><br />-replacement of vital items i.e damaged medical equipment, clothing , toiletries , other vital personal belongings. <br /><br />The funds raised will be distributed via the purchase of requested necessary items where appropriate / will be allocated  directly to impacted community and/or community service co operatives/orgs to facilitate  support to communities where possible  in need of additional support  upon a needs basis for those with emergency needs. <br />_______________________________________________________<br />We acknowledge that these tragedies have occurred on Sacred Indigenous lands where Sovereignty has not been ceded. The ongoing connection of First Nations people's to land and culture is critical to life on this land. We acknowledge our ancestors and elders  past present and future.

<div>Jackson and Malik are two of over 400 LGBTQ+ refugees from Uganda, Burundi, the Congo and Rwanda with hundreds of miles behind them as they have searched for a safe haven to let down their roots and take care of each other. The group has children and adults alike, survivors of unimaginable violence looking for a chance to rest in safety.

<div>They relocated from Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya to Gorom camp in South Sudan earlier this year, as conditions in Kakuma worsened to a breaking point. Now, the same threatens to happen in Gorom camp, and they’ve been told to leave because of being LGBTQ+.

<div>They continue to be forced to flee from violence.

<div>They’re exhausted and increasingly unsafe, but never alone and never without hope.

<div>Their plan is to rent a fence in Juba, South Sudan, where they can establish a community haven for all refugees (and potentially more). But we will need <strong>YOUR</strong> help to be able to do it! Every tiny bit makes a difference.
