<div>A few days ago, we met Wernand, a 14-year-old boy, while filming. The video ended up gaining a lot of attention, so we went back to find him again. What we discovered absolutely broke our hearts. Despite receiving money for food just two days earlier, we found him back in a junkyard collecting cans and scrap metal to recycle. Not because he wanted extra spending money, but because he felt responsible for helping provide for his family. At just 14 years old, Wernand has become the man of the house.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>He then took us to where they were living. The structure had major portions of the roof missing, sections of the floor completely gone, no electricity, no running water, and conditions that honestly shocked me. We met his mother and newborn sibling and spent time hearing their story. The part that hit me the hardest was learning that this young man spent much of his childhood in an orphanage and later experienced homelessness while still a child. Yet somehow he continues to fight every day for his family. I truly believe we have a chance to change the trajectory of this family’s future.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The funds raised will help Wernand and his family with housing, school fees, food, and other general resources. This support will provide them with stability, safety, and hope for a brighter future. Your support will change this family's life in a BIG way!
</div>

Help Wernand’s Family Find Hope

<div>On May 21st a woman who was not a patron and not intoxicated drove into the Silver Peso. Her car landed on the gas meter and damaged the structural integrity of the building. Our hopes of a quick reopening were dashed and each week brought more issues. We are now looking at a couple months out. Money from insurance to cover lost wages will take time to come in and in the mean time my savings have dwindled and credit cards pushed to the max. I have been actively looking for work but it is hard to find temporary employment. Unemployment will barely cover my bills and so I must ask for help to get through these next couple of months.

<div>Hello everyone, I am Katelynn, and I am asking for everyone's help to please help donate for my sister's funeral expenses. My sister, <strong>Mai Sai Vue</strong>, has went missing on October 31st of 2024, and her body was finally found November 28 by the help of local PD divers. <strong>I am still in disbelief of having to ask for everyone's support and favor in donations of her funeral expenses as she is my only sister who I had hoped to grow old with.</strong> I am at a loss for words and hoping that with your support, I can send my sister off well.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Mai Sai was a very intelligent and sweet person who had so much patience. As my only sister, she was my rock and the only person who I could count on. Without my baby sister, I am lost, broken, and unable to focus on the fact that I no longer will have someone to lean on or to call my sister. A short but sweet lifetime together is never enough.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Funeral is scheduled for December 18th and burial December 19th at Moon Sun Memorial Services @ 8100 Demetre Ave, Sacramento, CA 95828.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On behalf of the Vue Family, we truly appreciate everyone for coming out to help us search for her as well as spreading awareness. Although it was not the news we had hoped for, we are still grateful to know that we have found her and can send her off properly. Thank you all for all your warm and kind words; we could never get through this tough time without everyone's support.
</div>

Help the Vue Family in Their Time of Need

<div><em>Many people have reached out to ask what they can do, and how they can show their love, sadness, support and care for the Brown family at this unimaginably difficult time. This page has been set up by a number of people who all wish to support Mandi Brown, legal guardian of Kaicy and wife of David. This page is for those who wish to donate to the family, in the hope of providing some support in their time of need. This money will be for Mandi to do with as she feels is needed or appropriate for those around her. </em>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As a school and local community, we have been rocked by the recent deaths of Kaicy (12) and his grandfather and guardian, David Brown. On Saturday 14th September, David and Kaicy were on camping trip in Wales with Kaicy's older brother and the boys' uncle (David's son). David and Kaicy were found unresponsive that morning, and the medical professionals currently believe David and Kaicy succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Kaicy and his brother both attended Sonning Primary School, with Kaicy only leaving the school in July 2023. Their grandmother and guardian, Mandi, is a teaching assistant within the school and has been a member of staff for over 20 years. This is a desperately sad situation, not least of all because Kaicy was only 12 years old. We, as a school and local community of parents, friends and colleagues, are in shock, and we are all sending our condolences and deepest love and support to Mrs Brown, Reo and their family at this time.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Kaicy was a kind, thoughtful and emotionally-aware boy who lit up a room with his smile and good sense of humour. He was also an exceptionally talented artist and impressed us with his attention to detail and incredible commitment to his artwork. Many of his pieces are still hung proudly around the school. Memories of Kaicy’s fantastic starring role as Mrs Wolf, in the Year 6 production in July 2023, will always make us smile. His fashion show performance at our Year 6 residential was also thoroughly entertaining, combining his acting skills and sense of humour to put on a hilarious display for his peers and staff. A gentle soul, Kaicy made friends easily and was loved by his classmates and adults alike for his easy-going nature and support for others. Kaicy always upheld our Sonning values and was a true ambassador for the school. Kaicy was one of those pupils who had such a bright future ahead of him and someone we always felt would achieve great things in his life – a thought which makes this situation even harder as we remember someone so special.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We, as a community made up of parents, PTA members, staff, governors, colleagues, friends, local organisations and families, are coming together to show our love and support for the family at this tragic time, and let them know in our small way that we are here for them.
</div>

Celebrate the memory of Kaicy and David Brown

<div>My sister Megan &amp; I are setting this up to help pay for the cost of our dad, Brian Oliver’s funeral expenses. He did not currently have a life insurance policy- as preexisting conditions with his past aneurysm, and numerous back surgeries made it very difficult to obtain.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>No one expected this sudden &amp; tragic death. He was working in a cow pasture on the afternoon of April 28th, when he was attacked by a bull and drug through the pastures and creek bed attacking him for around 20 minutes. His friend, Mike Carroll was able to step in and help once he heard my dad’s screams. Mike was also then attacked but he was able to call for help luckily. They were both airlifted from the pasture. Unfortunately our dad’s injuries were extreme, he suffered- two collapsed lungs, every rib on both sides broken except for two, both shoulder bones broken, his kidneys quit working &amp; went into failure, broken neck, multiple spinal fractures, as well as severe external head trauma, and heart/lung bruising.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>He was able to be put on ECMO on May 1st but on May 2nd around 12:55am his body quit responding to the machine and he sadly did not make it. He was able to be surrounded by family and we know he is with our Lord &amp; Savior now. Please consider donating to help us cover funeral expenses, if you cannot donate please keep my sister, Megan, &amp; I in your prayers along with his 7 grandkids, his parents, his siblings, and the rest of the family as well as friends of Brian. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the love, prayers, and support- they have been felt deeply.

<div>Services will be help at Hopewell Baptist Church of Blacksburg, SC sometime after May 6th. We will post complete arrangements with date/time once they are finalized. Arrangements will also be updated with all covering media outlets.

</div>
<div>The Magical Rock Band started as a bedtime story told by their father about a group of siblings that would travel the world conquering evil forces through their music and magical instruments.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Over the years the group saw their father Hayón, Executive Director of OccupyLove WorldWide, traveling the world helping the youth of impoverished communities. They watched videos, and saw pictures of their dad, uncles, and aunty building a school in the Kibera slums of Nairobi, Kenya, and fundraised so their favorite African artists could provide aid to families in Uganda during COVID.

<div><br />
</div>
<div>The Magical Rock Band, inspired by their father's altruistic endeavors, are looking to embark on a transformative journey to the eastern horn of Africa, But we nee your help!

</div>
<div>With this trip to the Motherland, the band will set the blueprint for connecting creatives globally through positive collaborations, good business, and beautiful music, all while expanding the MRB brand’s message of love and inclusivity. MRB will also be inspiring their MRB FAMbase in the United States to think more globally, and develop a more global perspective.

</div>
<div>The goal is to create music, shoot music videos, and connect with organizations centered around youth empowerment initiatives, access to clean water, and the fight against world hunger in Kenya, Uganda, and beyond. By creating impactful music, and inspirational content, the team will bring attention to the needs of people suffering in regions around the world. The trip will mark the first real step towards connecting young creatives globally, and spreading love worldwide.

<div>We adopted Ghost and Goon as brothers in 2020 mid pandemic. He and his brother are the sweetest boys, unlike any cats we’ve ever owned. We always joked that they were more like dogs than cats: following us everywhere, wanting belly rubs, and loving to chew on our shoes. Unfortunately, these idiosyncrasies were to our detriment on 3/13 when Ghost decided to chew on an electrical cord. He has sustained severe injuries to his mouth and facial bones that will require extensive surgery and monitoring.

<div><br />
</div>
<div>Spencer and I sort of had a casual courthouse wedding, so we ask anyone who would be interested in giving us a delayed wedding gift if they would donate to Ghost’s medical bills. Ghost is a one of a kind cat and this would be the ultimate and most meaningful gift for the both of us. We can not picture our growing family without him, and though every vet and vet tech want to keep him (as I said, he is the sweetest purr factory-boy, even with his feeding tube) we want to take him home and give him the highest quality of life.

</div>
<div>Regardless of donation, if anyone and everyone could please spread awareness about electrocution injury in pets. My grandmother owned cats, my mother owned cats, my mother’s partner is in animal control- and I’ve never heard of this happening. It is mostly preventable with cord covers, outlet covers, and other “baby proofing” devices. Please share our hard lesson, so that other families may be prepared and safe going forward ❤️‍

<div>Hello, my name is Rachel Lyons. I am Dylan Lyon’s big sister and I’m writing this from our entire family. We are trying and humbly seeking to raise money for my little brother’s funeral, for his memorial, for a scholarship fund in his name, and other family matters in this devastating time for our family. He was a reporter for Spectrum news, his dream job, and while doing what he so loved, was ambushed and murdered while covering a story in Orlando, Florida.
</div>
<div>At only 24 years old he was an acting father to his niece and nephew who he loved so much. He so loved his fiancé, Casey, as they were planning their life together and their love was an inspiration to all who saw and knew them. She is our family. He was a devoted son to his mother and father and although the youngest child, was our light and leader. Dylan would have been 25 years old in March.
</div>
<div> He was a happy soul and a wonderful person in life…my brother was our baby and our heart. He was taken too early from us and we can’t let his memory be forgotten. From the deepest parts of our hearts, thank you.

<div>I am currently suffering from a stroke. I will be moving soon too after I get release. So this couldn't have come at a worst time. Anything you can donate would be greatly appreciated. I would need to get post care physical therapy as well so I can get back on my feet in order to continue the career I so deeply love. I was already stressing about bills before this, so I worked so hard just to make ends meet as a single mother for a long period of time.

For nearly six months, I have been fighting to save our longest standing fitness facility - a business that has been serving the Sausalito community for over 35 years. I and the Sausalito Fitness Club team have explored every means possible, including the pursuit of personal investments, federal and local grants, loans and other relief. And while this has helped us stay afloat until now, the decision of our Governor to not allow gyms to reopen in July has put us in an impossible position. And so, we must humbly ask for your support to help save our club. We've started a fundraising campaign to keep the gym alive for the next year. This gives us a fighting chance to survive and the opportunity to build and grow once we reopen. Our goal is to raise $300,000 which will cover our rent, utilities, and operating expenses for one year without any other source of income.<br /><br /><br />This is a difficult and uncertain time for everyone and we understand that there are many individuals and organizations in need. If you are in a position to support us we will be extremely grateful for that help. Please let others know about this campaign as we need this support and would be most appreciative! This is only about covering rent and expenses in a time where we are losing members - members whose dues make it possible for us to operate and improve the facility and its equipment.  <br /><br /><br />Sharing my love for this club and why it was so important to me falls within the direct ties to the community itself. I was raised here and have had the privilege of being taken in by this amazing community. Around this same time last year, my vision was simple...do the necessary steps to upgrade the facilities and turn our club into an experience that the community deserved. To create a location where every time any human would walk in and out of our doors, they had a genuine smile on their face. It was a goal to be that force of energy that made people want to come here because it’s a second home that just so happens to have a gym upstairs. <br /><br /><br />My sole purpose was to assemble the RIGHT team that was in it for the same reason, and who shared the same love and passion for this community that I did. With that team came achieving the goal of upgrading some parts of the facilities to change the narrative, and spruce the club up. We succeeded at that by raising over $200,000 within our team, and help from donations from our club family members. Although the Covid-19 crisis and shelter in place orders have forced us to remain closed during these tough times, the club is a vital and beloved social institution that means something to all of us. For me personally, it is terribly painful, given we were just getting started with our goals.<br /><br /><br />Prior to the crisis, each day at the club I got the luxury of being able to see the most amazing people walk through this club who all share the same purpose...to be active, to get better, to see friends and neighbors. How amazing is that? To the Sausalito and surrounding communities, our club serves as many people’s second home, and an essential key to a sense of belonging. This building has been in this community for over 35+ years - some of the same families and its generations for many of those years. Recent survey results indicated that these folks would be absolutely devastated at the thought of our beloved community gym being closed forever. <br /><br /><br />I have had the huge privilege of spending 15 years at this club, learning the fitness industry, and the importance of fitness itself which led me to lose over 100 pounds and maintain a healthy lifestyle. From being hired as front desk, working as a janitor at night, becoming manager, starting a personal training business and now becoming owner, I have leaned in strongly to see my dream and vision come true. During all this time and hard work, I would have never imagined that it could be possible that our momentum could falter and our vision and mission would be at risk, as it is now. I have devoted so much of my personal energy and dreams into this club. You have found a home in this club. We cannot let it fail.<br /><br /><br />At Sausalito Fitness Club we are creating the world we want to share with our community. Our goal now is to find new ways to serve our community during this difficult time, and despite formidable obstacles, I am inspired. We will be starting a series of outdoor fitness classes for both members and non-members. Please follow our website and Sausalito Fitness Club on Facebook and Instagram. Most of all, please drop us a line to let us know you are out there and doing well. Messages of support and camaraderie are needed in this unprecedented time until we can reopen, reconnect, gather and celebrate with one another. Until then, please keep faith, exercise, and know that we appreciate you so much.

<p>On April 18, 2020 Steven Taylor was murdered in the midst of a mental health crisis by San Leandro Police. The incident was captured on both cell phone and police body camera footage. Within minutes of arriving on scene, Steven was shot dead after little attempt to de-escalate without lethal force. After being shot, officers tased him again, causing him to die on the scene. One of the officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave, while the other is still working. and city, county, and state officials are slow to respond and investigate. <br /><br /><br />It took the city almost 2 months to be contacted by any city or state leadership in regards to this tragedy. Recently, the city called for the California Attorney General to conduct an independent investigation, but we demand more be done to ensure justice is served. We demand the officers involved be fired and charged; we demand that the city take active steps toward ensuring this does not happen again. Recently, the Taylor family hosted a press conference to express their frustrations with local leadership: <a href="https://abc7news.com/walmart-shooting-steven-taylor-man-killed-san-leando-police/6273284/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Taylor Family Press Conference</a>. <br /><br /><br />This GoFundMe campaign will support Steven’s family with legal fees, as well as help to financially support his children and family with expenses. Please donate if you can! Funds will go directly to Addie Kitchen, Steven Taylor's grandmother. She is the beneficiary of this fundraiser.<br /><br /><br />If donating money is not an option for you right now, please support by contacting city, county, and state officials to demand that justice be served! Hello to all of our beloved California Gold patrons and to our Marin community, we are trying to raise funds for our staff and business during these unprecedented times. As you know we have had to shutter our doors due to the Covid-19 pandemic sheltering mandate, putting our staff in a position to not be able to work. The hospitality industry as a whole is suffering and many businesses will not be able to reopen their doors after all the smoke clears.  We are asking for any financial help that you are able to give to help get us through these difficult times. 50% of these relief funds will go directly to our staff to help cover their living expenses and the other 50% will go towards business expenses to ensure we can open our doors again as soon as possible. We will donate funds to our staff first to make sure they have support. <br /><br />For anyone who donates $500 or more, we will offer a 2-hour private cocktail class taught by Isaac Shumway for up to 5 guests. For every $100 above the $500 donation, you can add one person, up to 10 people max per class. We will set a mutually agreeable date when we can all safely gather again.<br /><br />If you are interested in the California Beverage Academy cocktail classes and are able to donate $500 or more please email us at <a href="mailto:[email redacted]">[email redacted]  </a> to schedule a date and go over event details. We would also be able to offer a Beer 101, American Whiskey 101, Scotch 101, Mezcal 101, Etc. Please let us know what interests you and we can customize any of these classes. <br />In this class, we will cover cocktail history, current drinking culture, cocktail techniques, tools, and ingredients. We will make 3 classic cocktails throughout the class, and enjoy the cocktails while we learn. You will get a print out of these recipes and a drink on us once California Gold reopens its doors.  <br /><br />Thank you from all the staff at California Gold, we look forward to serving you again. <br /><br />Cheers,<br />Isaac, Rhia, Jordan, Drew, Nora, Caitlin, Luis, Manny, David, Nikalet, and Victor.

California Gold Staff Covid-19 Relief Fund

<br /><br />Our father Joseph Stephen Williams has been in the hospital for 2 months due to health complications from a stroke. Although he fought long and hard sadly on Tuesday, May 22, 2019 at 3:40am  he was declared brain dead and removed from the ventilator, while surrounded by his close family and friends. <br /><br />Joseph was 58 years old. He was the most caring, and unselfish person we know. He leaves behind a wife “Michelle Williams” of 20 years, 4 Children , and 5 grandchildren  . <br /><br />A dedicated brother ,husband, father, godfather, grandfather, uncle and friend. He was definitely loved by everyone. Known for his BIG personality and awesome sense of humor. It’s  hard for us to fathom that he’s nolonger here. <br /><br />It’s with a heavy heart that we ask our family, friends, and loved ones for any financial assistance for funeral and burial cost. Our family would appreciate your kindness. <br /><br />We will forever be grateful for the love and support during these tough times.  Thank you and may god bless you and your family.

Daddy funeral

A flight home from Turkey with 24-hours of no sleep; an urgent answering machine message, “Kath you need to get home now because George is in the hospital and the doctors don’t think he’s going to make it!”; a 366-day tumultuous journey pulling in family, friends, and numerous professionals; e-mail chains; days and nights in emergency rooms, hospitals, and critical and intensive care units; fear, confusion, exhaustion, and moments of hope…. These are only a few of the scenarios that surround how your life can change in only a day.<br /><br /> <br />George is the incredible man who endured a multi-visceral, 4-organ transplant after being diagnosed with Protein C Deficiency, a genetic disorder with no cure. He survived. George survived because of the miracle of life from a beautiful, anonymous teen-aged donor. The tragedy of losing one life and the pain for the victim’s family as you are praying for the survival of your loved one is only one emotional reaction compounded by the constant physical emergencies of the day. And, somehow, I’m the ex-wife who got voted in to make the spur of the moment decisions and spearhead his road to recovery. The desire to give back, to celebrate life, to further awareness around organ donation and transplantation, to thank everyone involved, is the reason we’ve created this Operation Transplant: It Takes A Village fund-raiser. And, yes, it is personal.<br /><br /> <br />When they say, “It takes a village,” this is no exaggeration. The delicate process for the gift of life is a multi-faceted, multi-tiered precarious job that reaches way beyond the patients. It takes medical doctors with different specialties, highly skilled and specialized nurses, staff, education, support systems and so much more. And, the need for transplants is growing every day. According to organdonor.gov as of January 2019 over 113,000 people were on the national transplant registry and although 95% of U.S. adults support organ donation, only 58% are signed up as donors. Every 10 minutes another person is added to the waiting list and the shortage is increasing daily. <br /><br /> <br />Thanks to the blessings of transplant units and those who run them, George now has a wonderful life. In our case, it was the doctors, nurses, and support staff at Mt Sinai and the Recanati/Miller Transplantation Institute that helped us get through those intense days. They remain a group we are connected with to this day. <br /><br /> <br /><strong>When your life has been completely changed, by the love given to you from strangers, you make it a life goal to give back.</strong> <br /><br /> <br />Donations will go to the Transplant Recipients International Organization (TRIO), an established charity that has an international and time-tested reach.  We chose this organization in particular because they are “committed to improving the quality of life of transplant candidates, recipients, their families and the families of organ and tissue donors.”  Their mission is to promote awareness, offer support, provide education and participate in advocacy, internationally and in local communities.<br /><br /> <br />We want their work to continue to flourish and it is our way of thanking all the incredible staff, doctors, nurses, administrators, family members, friends, organ donor families themselves and everyone we met along the way. Without the various forms of support, this difficult journey would have been even harder. From personal experience, we can say that every member of our ‘village’ helped to give us all peace of mind and helped make us stronger to be able to be there for George. <br /><br /> <br />You can read about George’s entire intense and tumultuous journey in an incredible book written by award-winning author Katherine Egan (<strong>Genetics Isn’t Everything: How to make Your G-E-N-E-S Fit You</strong>; George’s ex-wife), called<strong> It Takes Guts</strong> coming out later this year, with all proceeds going to TRIO (in honor of George and the Recanati/Miller Transplantation Institute at Mt Sinai Hospital, where George had his surgery).  We want you to get to know and love George, learn about his bravery despite how hard his healing was, the life-and-death daily choices, and how his story can help other transplant recipients and the lives of those they touch.<br /><br /> <br />And finally, with our hearts full of gratitude, we want you to know that organ donation does not go against any religion and it does save precious lives. <br /><br />No contribution is too big or too small. What one does quietly, even silently, is seen by the Universe as an act of compassion for its own merit. Every organ can breathe new life and if reading this message inspires you to just update your driver’s license and become an organ donor – that is a wonderful thing. If you feel you can afford a financial donation, we promise it will be put to good use.  <br /><br /> <br />The funds raised will go into TRIO’s General Treasury Account, which provides resources for:<br /><br />1-   Supporting transplant candidates, recipients, donors and their families<br /><br />2-   TRIO’s scholarship program<br /><br />3-   Education and awareness around organ transplantation<br /><br />4-   Advocating for immunosuppressive drug coverage and for other bills of concern to candidates, recipients, donors, and donor families.<br /><br /> <br />We hope this fund-raiser and <strong>It Takes Guts</strong> inspire you as much as we are in awe of George. We see him struggle, we see him thrive, and we see him celebrate life – with joy and gratitude – every single day. <br /><br /> <br /><br />From his most ardent admirers – Thank you!
