Making a difference slowly but surely!! Toys

<div>This Thanksgiving season, it's our duty to give back and give thanks to the humans who ensure we have food on our table, groceries in our markets and sanity in our nation. Farmworkers work day-in and day-out, through weather changes, low wages, dangerous pesticides, back breaking work and through the whole pandemic, to ensure that this nation doesn't go hungry.

<div>So how does this country repay them? By paying these farmworkers wages low enough that their families struggle with food insecurity at home. By calling them essential, yet not providing them with essential protective gear to properly protect them as they work. By spraying the fields they work in with pesticides, cancerous pesticides that get on their clothing which then gets in their homes and causes health issues for farmworkers and their children. By wearing out their bodies as they do back breaking work daily, all for them not to have access to health care because of their immigration status. The list goes on and on, but the fact that our families depends on these humans should be enough for us to give back where we can and share this campaign to make a difference.

<div>It is our duty, as a nation, to protect our most vulnerable, not just for the sake of humanity, but also to ensure that these essential workers know they are appreciated and that there's a community that cares. We NEED farmworkers, we depend on farmworkers, our families and our children DEPEND ON THE LABOR OF FARM WORKERS. So we need to do our part for them.

<div>Can you believe that the same people who put food on our tables can’t afford to feed their own families? Can you believe that the same people risking their health for our nation aren't provided with the protection they deserve? It’s the alarming truth but YOU can help make a difference in their lives.

<div>This November we are collecting sweaters, raincoats and blankets for farmworkers, as well as amplifying our need for food for our Food Bank for Farmworkers program to be able to provide farmworkers with warmth and a Thanksgiving meal for their families. We are accepting new or gently used items, so if you have a sweater in the back of your closet that you haven't used in years, we will find it a new home! Have you noticed how farmworkers wear sweaters on the field? No matter how hot or cold it is, they do it to protect themselves from pesticides. This campaign aims to bring attention to this matter, while providing sweaters to our essential farmworkers as a thank you for their hard work.

<div>Your donation helps us do more than just buy clothing. It ensures that farmworkers in our community work with dignity and the clothing they need to work. The funds raised will be used not only to purchase essential clothing, but also to cover the operational costs that make this program possible. That includes the logistics of organizing community distribution events, transportation, staffing, and volunteer support.

<div>Farmworkers work 10 hour days, 6 times a week, with most earning an average of $13.50 an hour with no overtime pay until after the 10th hour. Farmworkers are the lowest paid labor force in the U.S. and live in fear due to their immigration status, which prevents them from speaking up for themselves and their inhumane treatments.

<div>Together we can make a difference, though the system fails to serve our essential working families, us coming together as a community to take care of one another is how we create the change in the world we want to see.

Sweaters for Farmworkers #thankyoufarmworkers

It is with immense heartbreak that our family shares the difficult news that in the early hours of August 24, our beloved Carlos was taken from us. <br /><br /><strong>Carlos was a father, husband, son, brother, and friend.</strong> <br /><br />As a father, his love for his son, Carlos Alfredo Gonzalez, Jr., was always consistent and pure. His son was his pride and joy, and he vowed to raise him to be hardworking, resilient, and kind towards others - everything Carlos was, and more. <br /><br />As a husband, Carlos was committed to displaying his love and affection constantly to Yesenia, his beautiful wife and mother of his child. <br /><br />As a son, Carlos shared a special relationship with his mother and father, always providing anything his parents needed without hesitation, and proud to be their son.<br /><br />As a brother, Carlos' love and support of his sibling's goals and dreams never wavered. He always encouraged them to do what made them happy. He leaves behind his three older sisters and his little brother Gio, whom he shared an unbreakable bond with and always reminded to be a better person than he was.<br /><br />As a friend, Carlos treated everyone he was close to like a brother. In the past 48 hours, we have met many who have come forward with beautiful stories of the ways Carlos motivated them to strive for greatness and how he undoubtedly believed they had the strength to overcome any hardship.<br /><br />Now <strong>we</strong> are left with the tremendous hardship of living without Carlos - an unbearable loss we cannot fully express in words, nor in tears.<br /><br />Family and friends of Carlos have offered to support our family with funeral costs and necessities for his 3-year old son, who must now move forward in his life without his precious daddy. <p><strong>The following memorial  fundraiser has been established to put our beloved father to rest. Mark was a compassionate person, loved father, who cared dearly about his children and career. We are devastated about losing the pillar to our family. His whole life he worked hard to ensure his kids were taking care of. When we encountered an obstacle, he was the one to call. My father Marcus Casas Sr. was the comfort and guidance his children needed. The  fundraiser will allow his children and family to properly pay tribute and respect to a beloved family man. All funds generated will go to expenses of memorial.  The ceremony will hopefully take place towards the end of February.  I Marcus Casas JR. will be in charge or any proceeds collected and ensure they are applied to services and ceremonial needs.  On behalf of the Casas Family, we greatly appreciate any contributions.  Thank you!</strong>

CASAS MEMORIAL FUNDRAISER

My name is Sonia. This is a picture of my beautiful niece Elliana. My daughter loved her cousin and spent so many hours playing with her. I spent so much time watching the two of them together. My daughter was always excited when she knew she was going to play with Elliana.. She was always smiling, she loved to have fun and loved her family.<br />Last night, my niece was in a terrible accident and was taken from us too soon. We are devistated and cannot even begin to realize our lives without her. We are hoping to just raise enough money to cover the costs of the funeral. We apreciate anything you can contribute to help us during this tragic time.
