<div>Hello, I am Christiane. I live in Mijas/ Malaga Spain. My goal is to rescue as many Podencos (spanish huntingdogs) as possible .

<div>I am an animal rights activist and an Administrator for the Facebook group Paws for Freedom: United for Galgos &amp; Podencos. For 12 years I have been rescuing Podencos, a Spanish hunting-breed, from their sad and desolate existence in the Perreras of the Málaga region.
</div>
<div>I have seen these wonderful dogs roaming the streets and fields abandoned. If lucky, they find protection in the local shelters. Sadly the vast majority is not so lucky to find a safe place in a shelter; these poor souls find themselves discarded, dumped like trash. After a live of suffering and abuse by their hunter/owners, many end up in one of the Municipal pounds/ Perreras, if not worse . About 80% of the dogs in the perreras are Podencos! Many of them are sick and old. There they are waiting for help in small kennels 24/ 7 during the cold of the Spanish winter and in the extreme heat of the Andalusian summer.

<div>Podencos are beautiful, very loving, loyal und intelligent. An ancient breed, always the last to be rescued / adopted and to find a home. They are kept in small kennels often for a year ore even more, some never make it out.
</div>
<div>This is breaking my heart and it is my mission to help these forgotten dogs. I try to get them out of the Perreras, to find a rescue association which will find loving familys for the dogs.
</div>
<div>Podencos are not protected by the Spanish animal welfare law! They are NOT considered sentient beings just simply tools for the hunt, working dogs. Therefore, Podencos have almost no chance to be adopted in Spain where they are still not seen as the wonderful pets and family dogs that they are.
</div>
<div>All this drives me to rescue Podencos from their sad lives, which they do not deserve!
</div>
<div>Over the years I have rescued about 150 dogs from the Perreras and some directly off the streets.
</div>
<div>I could not have done it being a “one woman show" It was only possible with the wonderful help of my " guardián angels" Christina, Rosa, Luz, Esther, Sandra and Andrea. Each of them with great skills. I love you all.
</div>
<div>I pull the Podencos from the Perreras, give them all the medical treatment they need which include
</div>
<div>- test for Mediterranean diseases, - - -vaccinations, spay and neuter procedures
</div>
<div>-passports and chips .
</div>
<div>I keep them safe in a good residential / dog hotel where I socialize them until they can travel to the associations.
</div>
<div>I team up with associations and rescue groups from the UK, Canada, USA, Germany, Finnland and Spain.
</div>
<div>All funds go to the dogs directly!
</div>
<div>The Pererra release fee can be up to 125 €
</div>
<div>A huge part are vet bills and the monthly fee for the residencias, where the dogs stay until they can be going to rescues all over Europe, USA and Canadá 
</div>

<div>Ich habe diese wunderbaren Hunde verlassen auf Straßen und Feldern umherirren sehen. Wenn sie Glück haben, finden sie Schutz in einem örtlichen Tierheim. Leider haben die meisten dieses Glück nicht und finden keinen sicheren Platz. Diese armen Seelen werden einfach entsorgt und weggeworfen wie Müll. Nach einem Leben voller Leid und Misshandlung durch ihre Jäger und Besitzer landen viele von ihnen in einer kommunalen Perrera – wenn nicht Schlimmeres geschieht.

<div>Etwa 80 % der Hunde in den Perreras sind Podencos! Viele von ihnen sind krank oder alt. Dort warten sie in kleinen Zwingern rund um die Uhr auf Hilfe – in der Kälte des spanischen Winters und in der extremen Hitze des andalusischen Sommers.
</div>

<div>Podencos sind wunderschöne, sehr liebevolle, treue und intelligente Hunde. Sie gehören zu einer uralten Rasse und sind dennoch meist die Letzten, die gerettet oder adoptiert werden und ein Zuhause finden. Oft verbringen sie ein Jahr oder sogar noch länger in kleinen Zwingern. Manche schaffen es nie hinaus.

<div>Das bricht mir das Herz, und deshalb habe ich es zu meiner Aufgabe gemacht, diesen vergessenen Hunden zu helfen. Ich versuche, sie aus den Perreras herauszuholen und Tierschutzorganisationen zu finden, die ihnen liebevolle Familien vermitteln.

<div>Podencos werden vom spanischen Tierschutzgesetz nicht ausreichend geschützt! Sie gelten nicht als fühlende Lebewesen, sondern lediglich als Jagdwerkzeuge und Arbeitshunde. Deshalb haben sie in Spanien nur geringe Chancen auf eine Adoption, obwohl sie wunderbare Familien- und Begleithunde sind.

<div>All das motiviert mich, Podencos aus ihrem traurigen Leben zu retten – einem Leben, das sie nicht verdienen!

<div>Im Laufe der Jahre habe ich etwa 150 Hunde aus Perreras und einige direkt von der Straße gerettet.

<div>Das hätte ich niemals allein schaffen können. Möglich wurde dies nur durch die großartige Unterstützung meiner „Schutzengel“ Christina, Rosa, Luz, Esther, Sandra und Andrea. Jede von ihnen bringt besondere Fähigkeiten und großes Engagement mit. Ich liebe euch alle!

<div>Ich hole die Podencos aus den Perreras heraus und lasse ihnen alle notwendigen medizinischen Behandlungen zukommen. Dazu gehören:

</div>
<div>• Kastrationen
</div>
<div>• Ausstellung von Pässen und Implantation von Mikrochips

<div>Anschließend bringe ich sie sicher in einer guten Hundepension unter, wo ich sie sozialisiere und auf ihr neues Leben vorbereite, bis sie zu einer Tierschutzorganisation reisen können.

<div>Ich arbeite mit Tierschutzorganisationen und Rettungsgruppen aus Großbritannien, Kanada, den USA, Deutschland, Finnland und Spanien zusammen.
</div>

</div>
<div>Jeder gespendete Euro kommt direkt den Hunden zugute!
</div>

</div>
<div>Die Freikaufgebühr aus einer Perrera kann bis zu 125 € betragen.

<div>Ein großer Teil der Kosten entfällt auf Tierarztrechnungen und die monatlichen Gebühren für die Hundepensionen, in denen die Hunde untergebracht sind, bis sie zu Rettungsorganisationen in ganz Europa reisen können.

Free Malaga Pererra  Podencos!

<div>My name is Andrea and I run a rescue in Spain called Operation Great Escape. We need to move to new premises and this is why…..

<div>We’ve been in our current location for 5 years. Twice we have been told we have to leave because the house was needed by a family member and the 2nd time because it was being sold. Both times the reasons given were lies and the actual problem was threats to my landlord from the landowners next door. They do not live on the land and rarely come up but they do not like the dogs next door.
</div>
<div>My kids will not go outside when they are here because they shout abuse through the fence. They make the dogs bark, constantly complain and just generally make life unbearable. 
</div>
<div>Whilst I can stay here it’s not a nice way to live for any of us. The house has issues, leaking roof, awful electrics, constant problems with water but we tolerate it because it’s so very hard to find anywhere else that will accept all the animals. We are also over capacity for the amount of land we have. Our animals need more.
</div>

<div>Recently I was told about a rural horse property, it’s much bigger than here, less overlooked and less rent. I went to see it, not expecting much but was blown away with the potential. 
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It’s a long term rental, the owners don’t want to live in the house and can’t sell it. I’ve been totally up front about the number of animals and what I do and it’s no problem at all. This is my dream property for the animals. They can have more space, better housing, a proper exercise area, it’s almost too good to be true. 
</div>
<div>Unfortunately I cannot achieve this move without financial help. I cover my rent where I am now but I don’t have funds for a deposit and would also need to cover a months rent on both properties while we move. 
</div>
<div>I also need to dismantle pens and move/rebuild them at the new property and then make good where we’ve had the pens at the old property. 
</div>
<div>The new place is not totally fenced so we would also need to sort that too. 
</div>
<div>It’s a huge ask, I know that, but staying where I am long term is not an option, I can’t live like this anymore, it’s not fair on the dogs, my kids or me. I don’t know if I will get this kind of opportunity again so I have to grab it with both hands. 
</div>
<div>I’m setting up a go fund me to try and raise funds for the move. In the first instance I need 3000 euros for the deposit and the initial work that needs to be done to be able to start moving animals over. In total we probably need 20,000 euros (£16,500) to be able to do everything properly but that can be done in stages. The new property also has enough room for me to be able to move our mastin family which will also reduce our residence fees each month.

<div>My heart breaks as I write this. My dear friend Vanessa and her family lost everything in the devastating Palisades fire. Her family home, passed down for generations, is gone. The place where she raised her two autistic boys and cared for their animals has been reduced to ashes.

<div>My name is Kiesza, and I am a musician and artist who also had to evacuate the fire. I met Vanessa when I first moved to Topanga Canyon and lived in her airstream temporarily while recovering from a car crash. Vanessa welcomed me with open arms and showed me what true kindness and community look like.

<div>Vanessa’s life has always been built around her children’s needs. Her boys have complex special needs that require her full-time care and attention. Their home wasn’t just a house — it was a sanctuary, carefully designed to provide stability, comfort, and safety for her children. Now, all of that is gone.

<div>To make matters worse, her fire insurance was canceled just months before the fire, leaving them with no financial safety net. They’re now left with no income to support the boys’ unique needs or their everyday living expenses.

<div>In the chaos of the fire, Vanessa was able to save their beloved animals — dogs, sheep, and chickens. Her animals aren’t just pets; they’re part of the family and essential to her children’s emotional well-being. <div>Vanessa’s boys have severe autism and require many specialized items to manage their daily lives and routines. The fire took away everything they rely on to feel safe and comfortable, including:

Family of two Autistic Children Lose Everything in Fire

<div>Im <strong>Oktober</strong> 2024 fuhr Cynthia mit ihren drei Galgos und einem Mischling in ihrem ausgebauten Camper nach <strong>Spanien</strong> in eine perrera. Dort wollte sie eine Weile mitarbeiten! (Den Camper hatte sie, um solche Fahrten nach Spanien mit ihren Hunden machen zu können und ist 1-2 pro Jahr mit ihren Hunden dorthin gefahren, um vor Ort mitzuhelfen.)

<div>Am Abend waren alle ihre Hunde im Auto und schliefen, während sie nach dem Arbeitstag im Haus zum Duschen war. Der Camper war direkt vor dem Haus abgestellt. Als sie wieder zurückkam, war der Camper nicht mehr dort, wo er abgestellt war. Durch den Dauerregen entstand ein <strong>Sturzbach</strong> und riss ihn mit - er klemmte unter einer Brücke, so dass sie leider ihren Hunde nicht zur Hilfe kommen konnte. Es war lebensgefährlich.

<div>Am nächsten Morgen fanden Sie das Auto nochmal ein paar Hundertmeter weiter weg - auf den Fotos könnt ihr sehen, wie das Auto am nächsten Morgen aussah.
</div>
<div>Im Auto fand sie die Leichen ihrer drei Hunde. Der vierte Hund war nicht da.
</div>
<div>Mora hat sie leider erst nach einer Woche eingeklemmt unter einem Baumstamm im Wasser gefunden. Mora war erst ein paar Monate bei ihr - aus dieser perrera.
</div>

<div>Cynthia hat ihr Auto verloren aber was noch viel schlimmer ist sie hat ihre hier geliebten Hunde verloren. Hunde, die sie einmal aus dem Tierschutz gerettet hat und die ihr alles bedeuteten.
</div>

<div>Mit dieser Spende möchte ich ihr ermöglichen, wieder ein Auto zu besorgen, mit dem sie wieder nach Spanien fahren kann eines Tages - an den Ort, an dem sie zwar alle ihre Hunde verloren hat, aber vielen anderen Hunden helfen möchte.

Durch Starkregen alles verloren: 4 Hunde und Camper

<div>We never could have imagined the devastation this year would hold for the animals. The sanctuary has been decimated by two solid months of non stop floods with no end in sight. Everything is a disaster. Rain and hail has been coming down for 60 days. Everything is flooded. California has declared a state of emergency. And we still have weeks of rain ahead. We are in crisis mode. We desperately need to find a new safe forever property for the sanctuary.

<div>The past years here we have done so much good. Saved so many lives. Changed so many hearts. And provided permanent life long sanctuary to hundreds of animals rescued from abuse, neglect, and slaughter. None of which we could have done without this land.
</div>

<div>And although it has not been something that we have wanted to face, the reality is that this farm is just not safe enough for our Little Hill Sanctuary.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We urgently need a new farm that will be a safe forever home for our sanctuary and the 100+ rescued animals we care for. I know this is a big undertaking but I also know with your continued love and support for these animals together we can do anything.
</div>

<div>We have been searching and there are so many amazing properties out there just waiting to welcome the animals and help us save so many more lives. We just need your support to make it happen. We need to raise a down payment to secure a new property as soon as possible.

<div>This new land will be a sanctuary for all. Not only will we welcome so many more animals, we will also welcome our community through events, education, and expanded volunteer opportunities.
