Hi, My name is Read Choi, I am from LA, I am trying to raise money for a nice homeless lady I met named Martha. When I met her, she had actually fell about a block away from me. Her cart had tipped over, and she was unable to get up by herself, because of her old age. After helping her get up, she told me a little about her story.


 


She had gotten out of the ER due to a head injury, and she had lost all her stuff quite recently, because it got stolen. She was unable to make payments, and so her home was taken from her. She does not have a phone, and her family seems to have abandoned her.


 


With the $1000, I will get her a prepaid phone, as well as a hotel/motel to stay in, and the rest will be given to her for her to spend on necessities.


 


I believe. everyone deserves a second chance. Let's prove to her that she does too. ****I have to post an update, because we raised a lot more money than anticipated. I am currently working with a couple of social workers, and they are going to place me in contact with a case manager that has more experience than I with dealing with the Elderly homeless. I do not plan on giving her all the money upfront cash. The funds will be actively managed. I plan to find her a place to stay, like a hotel, and subscriber her to a grocery service so that she will not be hungry, as well as provided hygiene products. While at the same time, getting her into contact with various groups that can help her better than I. All the money is hers, but I have been advised that giving it all to her straight away would be a poor decision, and so with the help of the social workers will be using the money to help her out to best of our capability.
