<div>Jázmin Pellegrini was a beautiful, 15-year-old girl full of love, curiosity, and enthusiasm. Jázmin lost her life on April 20th, 2024. She was found dead on an unknown person’s driveway in San Francisco off of Lobos and Plymouth Avenue, after running away from her home in Baypoint a few days prior. The events leading up to her death are still unclear.

<div>It is unknown who she was with, how she got all the way to San Francisco, what she was doing, where did she die, nor why her body was left alone to decompose on the street. People walked past Jazmin’s body and ignored it. The poor child was abandoned by whoever she was with and was left to die.

<div>The Coroner’s report could not establish the exact cause of death. Three different drugs were found in Jazmin’s body as well as a myriad of medicine that could have easily have adversarial effects on each other.
</div>

<div>There are several ongoing police investigations in the East Bay related to Jázmin: she has suffered abuse even before her death inside and outside the hospitals she frequented these past two years. Jázmin had been struggling for years with PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, DID, and anxiety as she tried to process the sexual abuse she endured during her childhood by her own grandfather. Jázmin was not a drug addict, but she became dependent on substances during her hospitalization. The negligent medical establishments heavily medicated her, the dosages and drugs regularly got mixed up by the hospital staff causing Jazmin to get worse and worse every day. These hospitals failed to exchange information with each other about Jázmin’s medical history. They failed to provide her any treatment beyond emergency drugs (often consisting of four emergency shots a day). The hospitals committed a series of atrocious, negligent oversight that included rape, sexual harassment, medical mistreatment. Hospital staff broke Jazmin’s heart by not allowing her family to stay in touch with her and misinformed her about her family’s intentions.

<div>Her family had been fighting alongside to get her the long-term care she desperately needed, but the system never came through for Jázmin. Even though she had a whole team of social workers, therapists, and advocates, overall, the medical system and child protective services have tragically failed to protect and heal Jázmin.

<div>A tragedy so unreal and impossible to comprehend has taken place, with so many unanswered questions. This injustice cannot be accepted. The truth must be discovered, systemic errors must be corrected, perpetrators must be punished!

<div>The San Francisco Chronicle spent 10 months in investigating the gaps in adolescent psychiatric care that greatly contributed to the tragic death of Jazmin.
