<div>It’s nearly a year since Josh, Kate, and I have been waiting for another baby to join our family through adoption. We wanted to update our friends and family on how it has been going. 
</div>

<div>We continue to work with our consultants and have had our profile book presented to 13 different expectant Moms from various parts of the country; however, none of them matched with us. Our home study thankfully allows us to match with an expectant mom anywhere in the U.S.  Additionally, we have signed with two smaller agencies, one in Florida and one in Arizona, that work with birth moms in their respective states. We have had one opportunity through our Arizona agency, but that did not end in a match. Yet, we are in the process of being approved by another agency in Georgia, so that feels hopeful.

<div>We have been re-submitting all of our paperwork (background checks, fingerprints, insurance, financials, physicals, drug tests, etc.) as our Homestudy needs to be renewed annually.

<div>The waiting has been challenging, frustrating, and even depressing at times.  It has also been faith-stretching, compassion-building, and hope-filled. Still, we had hoped we’d have another little one in our family by now.

<div>We are so excited to be adopting - AGAIN! Through the gift of adoption, God has already abundantly blessed us with our sweet little Kate. Just over two years ago, we welcomed Kate into our arms and hearts. Now, it is time to add another little one into our family. 
</div>

<div>Adoption was not our original plan for our family; however, God had a different, wonderful good in mind for us. After six years of unexplained infertility and numerous medical treatments, we prayerfully decided to pursue adoption to build our family. In 2017, we joined with a Wisconsin adoption agency. After much waiting, we were finally matched with a little girl in winter of 2019. Sadly, that adoption failed, and we found ourselves devastated, seemingly starting over in our quest for a child to love. Yet, God had been working. A few months later, we received a phone call from our agency telling us that a baby girl had been born a few hours from us. All we needed to do was say “Yes”, and she would be ours. Enter Kate. After two weeks in the NICU, we were taking her home to be ours forever. She has enriched our lives with such joy. We are so thankful that God led us on the path of adoption and brought us to Kate. Now, we prayerfully ask Him again to bless us with another baby to love.

<div>Over the years of learning about adoption and now having one very precious adopted child, God has grown our heart for adoption as the way He intends to build our family. It mirrors God’s own heart towards us as He brings us into His family through the cross of Christ. Adoption is not without suffering and loss - for the birth parents, the child, and the adoptive parents - though, there is abundant joy as well. How blessed we feel to be a part of another adoptive story while knowing full well its many costs.

<div>Certainly, one of those costs is financial. We expect this adoption to cost over $60,000 - which covers agency fees, homestudy fees, legal fees, medical exams, background checks, printing/mailing, and travel related expenses (this child will likely be born in the South or Southwest &amp; we'll have to stay in that state for a few weeks). We have been blessed to be able to afford this adoption from the help of many family and friends as well as some of our own savings...but we're not fully funded yet.  
</div>

<p>Hi my name is Lia, the daughter of Kathy Sanford. I am fundraising for my mom who was diagnosed with Endometrial Cancer on November 3, 2020.
</p>
<p>My mom is everything to me. She adopted me from China when I was 17 months old. She has raised me with the most support, kindness, and unconditional love. She has helped me through everything to help reach my future goals and to have the best life I can have. I cannot thank her enough for everything she does for me so I am hoping to help her out a little bit to make it easier for her road to recovery.

<p>When she was diagnosed in November, our whole lives had changed. It was very unexpected and thinking what would be the best option of treatments for her and the safest would be. She had been referred to many different oncologist specialist in and out of town in Wisconsin. Surgery was not an option to remove the tumor due to too much of a high risk for her health. The other option was to go through Radiation Treatments everyday.
</p>
<p>At that time I knew it would be best to take some time off of work FMLA, to be with her mentally and physically and transporting her to and from appointments. She lives at home with me and I am her only child and caretaker. Over the years her health has progressively gotten worse. I help her with activities of daily living , transportation, and appointment needs. I am a CNA healthcare worker and will continue to take care of her and be there for her.
</p>
<p>In December of 2020, she had started her 5 days a week for 5 weeks, 25 External Radiation Treatments.
</p>
<p>Then after those were completed she needed to do 4 Brachytherapy Treatments for 4 weeks in Madison, WI. That was 2 1/2 hour drive for us each week including before and after appointments and overnight stays. She had many appointments to go to throughout treatments for pre-op and post-op doctor appointments, lab work, CT, MRI, and PET scans to make sure everything was going smoothly every step of the way.

<p>She had completed her Radiation Treatments in Feb and thought she could start recovering but the last few months starting in April and continuing now she has been in and out of hospitals for Kidney problems, Infections, and Sepsis. The effects of the Radiation has been a lot for her physically and mentally

<p>She has been to the emergency room numerous times because her body kept resisting antibiotics so that meant a few days inpatient in a hospital on IV Antibiotics to figure out which was the best treatment to help make the infection decrease.
</p>
<p>In June she needed emergency surgery as the Kidneys were starting to shut down along with a strong infection that led to Sepsis. She has gone through another high risk procedure a couple weeks after the major one and scheduled to have another one under general anesthesia at the end of August to make sure everything is working okay so it doesn't lead to another infection in her body leading to Sepsis very quickly.

<p>With her only having Medicare for insurance, the medical bills are overwhelming. I am hoping this will help ease some of the worry for her. It's my hope this fund will help reduce the amount of medical debt that has piled up quickly.

<p>My mom and I are always there for each other and we are a team. I want to help her the best way I can.

Zach was a fun-loving son, brother, and friend to many. Unfortunately, due to an unexpected accident, he passed away on the evening of Sunday, January 5th, 2020. We appreciate all the love, prayers, and support from everyone whose lives were touched by Zach. In Memory of Zachary Lane Swearingen

Gemma Babydoll Lombardi born on 10/09/2015 just two 2 years old... just a baby that will now fight the good fight against Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia also known as ALL. Gemma has a rare mutation called Ph-like ALL which complicates her treatment, has a history of poor prognosis and is still going through a clinical trial. This will be at minimum a 2 1/2 year treatment, with the possibility of recurrence. Gemma has already started treatment, we have just received results from CHLA that Gemma’s bone marrow is full of Leukemia cells with the Ph-like<br />Mutation, her spinal tap showed Leukemia as well. This will require more intense treatment, clinical trials and more frequent hospital stays and procedures. Due to the latest information our goal is now $100,000. Gemma has had multiple blood transfusions, spinal taps, bone marrow biopsies, insertion of a picc line and port with daily Chemotherapy along with other medication to fight this cancer. This is the beginning of many more treatments, blood transfusions as well as hospitalizations. Gemma is prepared to shine through this with prayer and the support of those who love her. Leukemia Won’t Dull Gemma’s Shine!

Click on the link below to watch all the updates via Facebook on my personal page here: <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pchollywood" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.facebook.com/pchollywood</a><br /><br />** DECEMBER 2, 2016 UPDATE...Due to unforseen circumstances,  we needed to adjust the amount of the funding to accomodate some additonal back up hard drives that were required to preserve the video footage as well as the images I am currently capturing here in Hawaii.  In addition we will be adding  a highlight video of the entire 7 days of events that the survivors shared together.  We felt that this would be a nice take  away for all the family members and surviviors as a souvenir memento. <br /><br />This video  will be used to help promote the arizonafinalsalute.com organization, as well as sharing on social media, and on YOUTUBE.  Thank you again to the first donations that were raised to get to the original goal of $6000.<br /><br />And now, here is how my dream started to photograph a survivor from Pearl Harbor....<br /><br />For the past 5 years I have been donating my time towards photographing veterans, and in particular I have been in search of a single survivor of the USS Arizona.  Back in April of this year my dream came true, as I located not only one, but ALL of the remaining survivors. <br /><br />On Dec 1st I will be leaving for Hawaii, and have the opportunity of a lifetime to chronicle in pictures a very private gathering of the last survivors of the USS Arizona in Pearl Harbor, in connection with the ceremonies marking the 75th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor tragedy.  The USS Arizona was one of the battleships that was blown up by Japanese fighter planes in a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, an event that brought the United States into the Second World War.  The attack killed 1,177 of the sailors and marines attached to the USS Arizona, and the ship remains on the bottom of the harbor. <br /><br />There are five remaining survivors of that catastrophic day, and they are all 94-96 years old.  Randy Stratton, the son of Donald Stratton, (one of the five survivors), is organizing the gathering, which will include a week long schedule of private events along with some public appearances, but this will otherwise largely be a private event.  I am incredibly honored to have this opportunity, to be part of this historic gathering, and to be able to record for posterity this historic event in our history.<br /><br />Close friends who know my history of photographing veterans will probably remember the portrait I shot of USS Indianapolis survivor, Paul J. Murphy, as well as a full blown military funeral ceremony I photographed at Arlington National Cemetery, honoring war hero, Edwin Ramsey, who led the last Cavalry under McArthur.  In short, these opportunities don't come along every day, and they have been the most worthwhile and emotionally rewarding events of my life and career.<br /><br />My goal is to produce a physical “coffee table” book with a compilation of the photos which would be for sale in the USS ARIZONA gift shop, as well as book stores, online, and special events honoring veterans.  I am donating my time to make the trip and photograph the event, but I need financial help to cover travel expenses, permits, the equipment needed do this properly, and the costs of producing the book in electronic form (initially). <br /><br /> A portion of the profits from book sales will be going to the USS Arizona Survivors Foundation to help support the families of the survivors and to honor the servicemen of the U.S.S.
