<div>Like many of us this winter, Amelia recently came down with Influenza A. But as the days went on, her symptoms worsened, and Amelia was admitted to Grafton Base Hospital. She was treated with antibiotics and placed on a ventilator for pneumonia.
</div>
<div>The hope was that a few days of care in ICU and she would recover and soon return home.
</div>

<div>However shortly after, Amelia's condition worsened, with the collapse of her left lung. She was urgently transferred to Tweed Valley Hospital, and within hours, her right lung collapsed as well.
</div>

</div>
<div>The doctors told her family that her condition was now so critical, they didn't expect she would survive the short flight from Tweed to the Gold Coast University Hospital.
</div>
<div>But Amelia, stubborn as ever, fought through and survived the flight.
</div>

<div>Once at Gold Coast University Hospital, doctors discovered a bacterial superinfection was aggressively attacking her lungs.
</div>

</div>
<div>Amelia was placed on life support, where she currently remains in a medically induced coma, fighting with everything she’s got.
</div>

Amelia's fight to recover!

<div>Hi my name is Holly and I’m sure I’m not alone when I ask our community, to help raise funds and rally around the beautiful “Hembrow” family.

<div>Tragically Ken Hembrow, a wonderful father, loving husband, amazing friend, son, brother and uncle, lost his life on the 11th of January in a motorcycle accident in Brisbane’s CBD. He was in the prime of his life and was 37.

</div>

<div>Ken was my hairdresser, not just talented at what he did but also a devoted “girls” daddy who always relished the chance to tell me about just how wonderful his girls Willow &amp; Hazel were and how lucky he was to watch them grow. I remember how excited he’d get telling me about trips with them, getting ready for their birthdays and how proud he was of Willow, his eldest and how wonderful she was with helping with her baby sister Hazel. There was a passion in his parenting that most would envy.

<div>His passion for his girls Willow &amp; Hazel could also be matched for his love of Chrissy, his beautiful, devoted and also talented wife. They both ran The Urban Hair Loft together in Charlotte street, Brisbane City. It would be this location where I met the talented husband and wife duo.

<div>Ken has been remembered by people as being kind, caring, gentle, loving, talented and just an all round wonderfully genuine human being.

</div>

<div>During the recent SEQ floods my Mum and her partner lost everything as flood water inundated their two story Oxley home. Luckily they managed to evacuate but sadly did not have time to take anything with them. As the water has started to receed it has become evident that the house requires extensive repairs and virtually all of the contents has been destroyed. Like many others in the same situation, due to the cost of rising/ unreasonable premiums they do not have flood insurance.
