Three years ago, I purchased through donations from family and friends - a row of slave dwellings for $5k from The Palmetto Trust. They are located in my hometown at 310 Morris Street in Anderson, SC.  I felt at the time an urgency to restore and preserve these structures for their historical relevance in our community and beyond. My vision for these dwellings stops at that, it does not go any further than their restoration and preservation, allowing the spiritual purpose of these structures to evolve through the collective consciousness thereby allowing individuals and groups to exercise their creative energy.  There are very few historical places and spaces that represent the African American presence and experience in our town, county and state. To date, I have not promoted these dwellings, this is my initial effort to stimulate growth in the interest of this endeavor. I will not do it alone. Morris Street Slave Dwellings Project

Jen Sparks has many claims to fame: -Boston Marathon Finisher -Half-Ironman -Early Bus Regular -Girls on the Run Volunteer -Dedicated Running Buddy -Sarcastic Comment Slinger ...and the list goes on!  Jen plays all of these roles while facing the additional obstacles that come from being a visually impaired athlete. Although these obstacles never stop Jen, they require an additional level of dedication and planning throughout every step of training and competition. Most recently, she sustained a knee injury after training and racing on a recreational tandem.  Jen wants to continue pushing herself to the max in long-distance triathlon racing, but needs a bike that is safe to train and race with. She was awarded a grant through the Challenged Athletes Foundation and has been saving up toward the purchase price of the bike - let's help her raise the rest of the funds to turn that dream into a reality!

Jen's Triathlon Journey

Jessica Gaitor is a 24 year old aspiring film maker. She was hit by a pickup truck the night before Thanksgiving while walking and is in critical condition. Her injuries include: lacerations in the kidney, bladder, liver and lung. Almost all of her ribs on her right side were broken and her hip and right leg were broken and her spine was damaged. She also sustained a head injury and that we are not sure of the severity of yet. Jessica has been through a slew of surgeries since this horrible accident occurred and thankfully all have gone incredibly well. She has an amazing team of nurses and doctors doing all they can to help her heal from her injuries. Jess is charming, loving and incredibly giving. She leaves a great impression with everyone she meets and is cherished at The Nickelodeon where she is an Assistant Manager. She has such a passion for film making and community building. Jess always always takes care of others over herself and now she needs us. She has no health insurance and the bills are mounting quickly. Please give whatever you can because this is a person who deserves her best chance at recovery and reclaiming her dreams.
