<div>We’re reaching out with open hearts to share our son’s story. Our baby boy, Airis, is now 9 months old. He was born with a rare genetic condition – 10p12 chromosomal deletion, accompanied by BPES (Blepharophimosis, Ptosis, and Epicanthus Syndrome).

<div>Because of this condition, Airis’s upper eyelids are severely drooped, significantly limiting his vision and putting him at high risk of amblyopia (lazy eye) and other long-term sight problems. BPES also affects his overall physical development, making early intervention crucial for his visual and motor progress.

<div>The earlier reconstructive eyelid surgery is performed, the better the chance for healthy visual and developmental outcomes — to help Airis see, explore, and connect with the world around him.

<div><strong>Why surgery abroad?</strong>

<div>Unfortunately, surgeries currently available in Lithuania often lead to only temporary or limited results, especially in complex genetic cases like Airis’s.
</div>
<div>After consulting several specialists, we found hope with Dr. Ramon Medel, a leading oculoplastic surgeon in Malaga, Spain, known internationally for treating rare and difficult eyelid conditions with excellent outcomes. <div>The surgery is planned for December 2025, and the medical and surgical costs total €25,000. (We will personally cover all travel and accommodation expenses.)

<div>We hope this will be the only surgery needed for Airis’s eyes, giving him the best possible chance for normal vision. In the future, several other procedures are expected, not related to his eyesight, but aimed at improving his overall health and quality of life as part of his long-term care.
