<div>Bobby is my third child and only son. When he was born he had a severe lack of oxygen which complicated his life. When he was a child he had extreme behavior problems and entered the day treatment program at the Children's Home. They came to our house and worked with me and my daughters to know how to best support Bobby. Through that tough time, it really bonded all four of us together. Bobby's father lived with us but was not a supportive parent. Through the years Bobby would always ask me "Mom, why am I so different from everyone else?" I would always tell him how much I loved him and that he was not different in my eyes. He called me one day when he was an adult and said he saw something on television about a lady who threw her baby over the bridge. He said "Mom, you could've done that to me." And I told him I would have never done that to him because he was my baby and I loved him. Through the years all the family has always loved Bobby and showed him that they loved him.

<div>As an adult, he entered into the group home system. For many years there were a lot of problems, but he was able to work various jobs - at the Civic Center, McDonalds, and Buffalo Wild Wings, with the assistance of others who worked alongside him at those jobs.

<div>When he was transferred to a group home in Maccomb, it was a real answer to prayer. He finally found his happiness in the last home he lived in. He suffered much through the years as he was trying to find the right doses and medications to treat his problems. He spent time in the Quincy mental hospital and they finally got the appropriate medications for him. The last 6 months of his life were the best he had in a long time. He was very happy and got to do things he enjoyed - got to visit with his great nephews, went bowling, and just enjoyed shopping at Walmart. He was really excited to get to go to St. Louis and see the Cardinals game next week with his group home, but God had other plans.

<div>He died on Thursday from choking on his dinner. The members of his group home tried to help him, and 911 was called. He was taken to the ER and after 40 minutes of trying to save him, the doctor called me and said he did not survive.

<div>When I divorced Bobby's father, he took the life insurance policies of my children, so Bobby was left without one. I didn't have the means to get a new policy for Bobby and Bobby was never capable of getting one for himself. When Bobby died he had $2,000 to his name, and I feel that after all of the struggles Bobby had in his life that he deserves the respect of a proper funeral. I don't have means to provide that for him without your help.

<div>I never thought I would have to ask people for help like this. Through all of Bobby's struggles, all I've ever had to ask for is prayer. But in this case, we desperately need financial help in order to give Bobby a proper burial.

I was directly in front of this customer in line, I stopped at the exit to show my 2 year old a Christmas ornament and witnessed first-hand that the Michaels’ employees did nothing to provoke this verbal attack, and in fact treated all customers with professionalism and courtesy. I was so shocked by this unprovoked attack that I captured 17 minutes of it on video on my phone. I am starting this gofundme because I’d like to do something to try to make it up to the employee who was the main target of this racist attack. I’d like to show her that many people are horrified by how this woman treated her, and that we stand with her and appreciate her hard work.  She inspired me because despite the hateful words that were being hurled in her direction, she stood in that entranceway calm and unmoving to protect her staff and customers. Her calmness calmed me and I saw a true leader, which in today’s world, is something to be rewarded. All proceeds from this gofundme will be given to this employee, who has three children, to try to make her busy holiday season brighter. In the current climate I believe it’s very important that we go out of our way to treat each other with dignity, kindness and politeness, and that we stand up for each other when we see people being mistreated.<br /><br />***Thank you so much for everyone's kindness and generosity, I want to reiterate that the police were called, bystanders, including myself, were actively involved and the staff handled this flawlessly. There is so much you don't see in this video. Atleast ten customers stood next to the manager and waited for the police. That is what shocked the manager and myself the most, that people actually spoke up. You had to be there to see how the people were united. Thank you so much for helping me with this small gesture to thank this employee. Over 48,000 people have seen this video, if that many people gifted $1 this could be life-changing. I saw a hero and a leader in this manager. I was inspired by her. This incident started over a $1 re-usuable bag, but it's not new for African Americans and other POC. We have to stand up, if you can't speak up, at least be a witness and share your story.
