<div>It is with the greatest sorrow that we announce the passing of our father due to a massive bilateral stroke. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, brother, uncle and a wonderful friend to anyone who crossed his path. He was a very generous, heartwarming, and lighthearted man, everyone loved him. If you had the blessing to have met him you would’ve seen how selfless and caring he was. His passing was so sudden and completely unexpected that it literally turned our world inside out. We are all trying our best to muster the strength to live our lives without him, but this whole process has been so exhausting and emotionally draining for everyone, especially for his dear loving wife, Cinthy. Our dad’s life changed when he crossed paths with Cinthy and married her only months after meeting, they would have been celebrating their 25th anniversary this May.

<div>Our hearts are broken and we are all still in disbelief. Fortunately we have been able to come together as a family to help with his services and funeral, but mama Cinthy is left with expenses of her own. So with this GoFundMe we hope to ease the burden during this difficult time since she is now left with hospital bills, a mortgage, a major cut in her pay due to taking so much time off from being in the hospital and hospice, and to travel for dad’s services which will be held March 10th. Financial support after loss of beloved husband

<div>Dear friends and family, our beloved Jim had a medical emergency in France and is currently in the ICU there. He is not stable enough to fly home on a commercial aircraft, and the doctors are requesting an ambulance service to immediately return him home so that he can receive life-saving medical treatment in Los Angeles. The medical flight must be paid with cash before his departure, and we are hoping to be able to offset the cost with contributions from his wonderful network of friends (he did not have travel insurance, and his credit cards don't include coverage for medical emergencies abroad). <div>In the spring of this year, my mom was handed the heartbreaking diagnosis of ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) after a year of mystery symptoms impacting her day-to-day life. For those unfamiliar with ALS, it is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that causes the loss of muscle control for which there is currently no cure. She has been diagnosed specifically with bulbar-onset ALS, which unfortunately tends to progress more rapidly. In these past few months, her symptoms really have escalated quickly. Walking, speaking, eating, drinking, and even breathing have become more difficult by the day. Everyday outings are now limited mainly to important medical appointments, however we are feeling blessed that she is still able to travel which allows us to continue to create memories with our mom. However, losing her independence particularly has been a challenge. Life has been forever changed for my mom April, my dad Alan, myself, and my two younger siblings, Chloe and Ryan.

<div>Many have asked how they can best support my mom and our family through this tough time. The truth is, what we need most at this time is financial security. The cost of ALS is high. Countless tests in hopes for an answer leading up to the final diagnosis, routine medical appointments with specialists, therapies to maintain her comfort levels, and so many more unknowns that continue to arise as she travels down this road. We need to know that we can afford the many medical treatments, hospital stays, and care to keep her comfortable through this journey. Because there are only about 5,000 people diagnosed with ALS in the US each year, it is extremely rare and as a result - a very expensive diagnosis. Specialists are needed that we do not have here in Santa Barbara. My mom and dad have been traveling to Cedars-Sinai in LA regularly for treatment, and recently to Boston as well. While these have provided some much-needed answers and even a potential for a clinical trial, it has all added up quickly and will continue to do so. Financial needs include medical bills/treatments, health aides/support, and resources to allow my mom to take a dream vacation with her family. All donations will be used to support my mom April and our family during this difficult time.

<div>My mom has dedicated her life to bringing an abundance of sunshine to each and every life she touches. If there is any way that she can lend a helping hand to someone in need, she is the first one there. It is a quality that I and so many others have admired in her for years. She would often buy flowers and create beautiful bouquets to spread joy to those around her including our local teachers, grocery and hospital workers. She has given endless amounts of time and money to local community members, causes, and organizations such as The Dream Foundation, Flower Empower, countless school and charity programs, and her favorite - The Friendship Paddle. This will be year 10 of my parents participating in this beautiful event in honor of her dear friend Tara Haaland-Ford and my mom is determined to be there to continue on that tradition.

<div>Almost as quickly as my mom received this devastating diagnosis, she redefined the meaning of those three awful letters to mean something beautiful: April’s Love Soldiers. Support April Watson in Her Battle with ALS

Last week, our community lost a beautiful soul much too soon. Allison is survived by her husband, Aaron, and her children, Caden and Ella.<br /><br />Allison was a kind, loving, and gentle person who made a positive impact on everyone she knew. As a compassionate and dedicated teacher, she generously gave herself to the community and students she taught at Brandon School for 16 years. She also mentored teacher candidates from UCSB and began a teacher forum focused on mindfulness education. Allison was very active in the Hollister School PTA and supported both of her children's classrooms in numerous ways. <br /><br />Even during her own battle with cancer, the social-emotional health of others was always a priority for Allison. Allison Nichols LaPlante - An amazing human being!

Please help raise funds for the family of Mary Jane (43) and Adolfo Corral (43). They were two loving parents who left us much too soon. They left great impacts on the hearts of the people of this town. They  are survived by their 4 children, Azalea (20), Dahlia (17), Dominic (14), and Rose (10), both of their mothers and fathers, Adolfo's 3 brothers, Mary Jane's sister and 2 brothers, and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and cousins who they loved very much. As well as their 2 dogs, Harlem and Rocket/PeeWee/Dobby/Gizmo (To be named) and their cat, Cairo. Any help is appreciated. I want to be able to take care of my younger siblings for my parents. R.I.P. Mary Jane and Adolfo Corral ❤️

Kaenon James Slagle-Francis was born on Wednesday March 21. He was flown to Portland on March 22. Kaenon then went into emergency surgery Friday morning at 9am. (March 23, 2018) The doctors did not know how severe the surgery would be or exactly what they would be doing until they opened him up to see exactly what was happening. His colon was emptying into his bladder. He is in the ICU unit of Randall Children’s Hospital. His first surgery went well, but he will have 3-4 more surgeries in the next 4-6 weeks before the team of doctors will know more. He’s a fighter and God has been good. His mom and dad are staying in Portland with him and need our help. Please consider helping relieve this financial burden. Blake and Ashlee now face medical bills, medication/supplement costs, travel expenses &amp; being present for several appointments each week, both will be unable to work for the next month &amp; therefore their finances will suffer. It is unclear when Ashlee will be able to return to work. I will update you when I know more. For the meantime, just keep him in your prayers. We are very hopeful that everything will go smoothly. The hospital staff have been incredible. We know we have amazing prayer warriors out there please cover this family.

Help Baby Kaenon J. Slagle-Francis

Brian and Lara Mack are very close friends and very dear to many in our Santa Barbara community. They were at Route 91 Festival in Las Vegas when they were both struck by bullets. Lara was lucky to have only been grazed with scalp injury. Brian, while lucky to be alive, had more extensive injuries with abdominal trauma. Lara's quick thinking with the help of some "angels" helped get Brian to the hospital quickly. He had 3 surgeries and after 3 weeks in hospital in Vegas was transferred back to Santa Barbara yet after 5 weeks is still hospitalized. The Mack family is the most giving, sweet family I know and they will be impacted by this tragedy for many years to come. While the news moves on from these tragedies the families are still suffering. I hope to alleviate some of the financial burdens they will face after their wounds heal as Brian will most likely be out of work for multiple months and there's no way to predict what additional types of costs may come up in the near future. Brian's career is in helping people and he's involved in saving lives daily as an Anesthesiologist and volunteers his time all over the world helping the less fortunate. All donations will go directly to his medical bills and uncovered expenses during his recovery.
