...And we keep helping Valen's efforts to continue her battle against Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.  You will all be pleased to know she has reacted favourably. We are very hopeful she will defeat this type of cancer and will soon again enjoy a plentiful life. The life she deserves.  In the meantime, her treatment continues. It is a 2-year protocol that requires permanent intervention.    Any contribution is more than welcome. The only little support they have been able to obtain has come from beloved friends and wonderful people who have had a big heart and have helped.  All funds will be destined to continue funding her treatment and medicine. Nota: Español más abajo My son is one of only 7 people around the world with Mitochondrial TK2-related myopathy. This is a muscle neurodegenerative disease that has no cure. From the age of 3 he has slowly been loosing his strength. Now at the age of 14 he can no longer walk. There is a new and promising treatment at the University of Columbia in New York, with Deoxypyrimidine Monophosphate, which would allow my son to regain strength and prevent the outcome, which is death. Although we are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel with a cost of $5760/Month ($69,120 a year) makes it very difficult to pay for this and be able to still pay all the bills. It is our hope as parent to be able to have our son receive the treatment since 95% of mitochondrial diseases are untreatable. Money is now the only factor holding back my child from the treatment.
