<div>My name is David Gibson. My sister, Sarah, and I are devastated to report that our family home in Altadena was burnt to the ground in the Eaton Fire the night of January 7th. Fire conditions were apocalyptic that night, and there was little that first responders could do.

<div>Our dad, Brent Gibson, was able to evacuate just in time. He escaped with the clothes on his back and a single family heirloom. Our home and everything in it was lost to the fire. These mountains and this magical community have been home for our family for 30 years, and we are overwhelmed by the loss.

<div>Dad was an electrician for those 30 years and worked on many of the beautiful craftsman homes in Altadena and Pasadena that have now been destroyed. He has lost all of his physical possessions, among them his wardrobe, his bicycles, all of his documents, electronics, photography equipment, family heirlooms he planned to pass on to us, and a collection of tools gathered over his entire lifetime.

<div>Our family expects we will have financial losses of several hundreds of thousands of dollars after any insurance payouts and federal aid. But as eternal optimists, we have lots to be thankful for. We have our lives, our health, and our amazing, resilient, resourceful, supportive community in Altadena and beyond.

<div>Still, there is humor even in tragedy. For years, Sarah and I have asked our Dad to consider selling his old work truck, which sits in the driveway. Miraculously, it was spared by the flames, and inside the bed sit a handful of Dad's old tools. Cradling those tools are wooden drawers which Sarah covered with marker drawings as a toddler.

<div>DSST: Cole Campus is hosting its third annual Scholastic Book Fair! We are raising money so that each student may earn a book for free if they have enough LiveSchool points. LiveSchool points are earned by students doing things such as working hard, participating in class and showing leadership.

<div>At the DSST: Cole Campus, 86% of our students receive free/reduced lunch. Here, we believe that all students can and will be successful when provided with access to an excellent education, and 100% of our seniors are accepted to colleges each year. We hope to develop a lifelong love of reading by providing students with the opportunity to purchase books.

Sadly my mom just passed away due to suicide and it is going to be a extremely hard time and rough thing to go through for me and my younger brother and sister we were left with my dad but with nothing much to give her the remembrance and funeral she deserves I want to give her so much because she deserves the world she fought so hard to be here and keep being strong day by day for me my brother and sister she was more then amazing mom and kept everything together words can never describe how amazing was and I have no idea where to go from here and how will get through this.... but all we can do is pray anything will help just so we can give her a funeral she deserves...

Hi Folks! <br /><br />My name is Molly Smith and I run a small garment business with my mom Mary Lynn O'Shea. During this time of medical crisis we have given over our sewing studio part time to sewing PPE (personal protective equipment) for doctors and nurses in state and around the country. <br /><br />I have designed a mask pattern and I have begun manufacturing them as quickly as I can. I started sewing with cotton from our studio but was recently given a bag of recycled "blue wrap" from the hospital! Blue wrap which is a sterile non-woven material is used in operating rooms throughout the world. Unfortunately, this isn't going to be sustainable for long. <br /><br />The peak of this pandemic has been forecasted for approximately 30 days from now. I started this page to help offset my costs so that I can dedicate myself to this full time in the next month without worrying about how much money I am spending on materials, gas (the studio is 30 min away), etc. <br /><br />I know things are really difficult financially for so many of us now. Anything that you can give would be hugely appreciated. If you have a loved one in the medical field, consider making a gift in their honor. A lack of protective equipment is not something our medical professionals should have to worry about while they are on the front lines fighting a major pandemic! <br /><br />Stay safe!
