<div>Hello friends.
</div>
<div>My name is David Gibson. My sister, Sarah, and I are devastated to report that our family home in Altadena was burnt to the ground in the Eaton Fire the night of January 7th. Fire conditions were apocalyptic that night, and there was little that first responders could do.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our dad, Brent Gibson, was able to evacuate just in time. He escaped with the clothes on his back and a single family heirloom. Our home and everything in it was lost to the fire. These mountains and this magical community have been home for our family for 30 years, and we are overwhelmed by the loss.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Dad was an electrician for those 30 years and worked on many of the beautiful craftsman homes in Altadena and Pasadena that have now been destroyed. He has lost all of his physical possessions, among them his wardrobe, his bicycles, all of his documents, electronics, photography equipment, family heirlooms he planned to pass on to us, and a collection of tools gathered over his entire lifetime.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our family expects we will have financial losses of several hundreds of thousands of dollars after any insurance payouts and federal aid. But as eternal optimists, we have lots to be thankful for. We have our lives, our health, and our amazing, resilient, resourceful, supportive community in Altadena and beyond.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are enormously grateful to anyone who wishes to contribute, no matter the amount. Whatever is collected will be used to alleviate unforeseen costs after any federal aid has been applied. Your donations will be used to help Dad get back on his feet by:
</div>
<div>1) Purchasing essential items such as clothing, shoes, food, personal care items, furnishings, and other items lost in the fire
</div>
<div>2) Covering costs of medical &amp; mental health care
</div>
<div>3) Helping to navigate the uncertain road ahead.
</div>
<div>If you can’t donate but still want to help, sharing our GoFundMe is extremely appreciated. Whether you contribute monetarily or not, we are encouraged by your kind words and your prayers during this unfathomably difficult time.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Still, there is humor even in tragedy. For years, Sarah and I have asked our Dad to consider selling his old work truck, which sits in the driveway. Miraculously, it was spared by the flames, and inside the bed sit a handful of Dad's old tools. Cradling those tools are wooden drawers which Sarah covered with marker drawings as a toddler.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our hearts are broken for our community’s tremendous loss, but we will get through it together. Thank you for your support and kindness.

Support the Gibson Family after Altadena Eaton Fire

<div>DSST: Cole Campus is hosting its third annual Scholastic Book Fair! We are raising money so that each student may earn a book for free if they have enough LiveSchool points. LiveSchool points are earned by students doing things such as working hard, participating in class and showing leadership.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>At the DSST: Cole Campus, 86% of our students receive free/reduced lunch. Here, we believe that all students can and will be successful when provided with access to an excellent education, and 100% of our seniors are accepted to colleges each year. We hope to develop a lifelong love of reading by providing students with the opportunity to purchase books.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Cost Breakdown:</strong>
</div>
<div>Every dollar donated will be used to buy a book for a student to reward them for demonstrating our Core Values of Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Curiosity, Courage, and Doing Your Best!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Any funds leftover at the end of the Book Fair will be earmarked to be used for next year's fair; <strong>all donations will buy books for students!</strong>

In Memory of my loving Mom

Hi Folks! <br /><br />My name is Molly Smith and I run a small garment business with my mom Mary Lynn O'Shea. During this time of medical crisis we have given over our sewing studio part time to sewing PPE (personal protective equipment) for doctors and nurses in state and around the country. <br /><br />I have designed a mask pattern and I have begun manufacturing them as quickly as I can. I started sewing with cotton from our studio but was recently given a bag of recycled "blue wrap" from the hospital! Blue wrap which is a sterile non-woven material is used in operating rooms throughout the world. It has been shown to be more effective at filtering than cotton, it can be autoclaved and it is in virtually limitless supply!<br /><br />My pattern and tutorial can be found here:<br /><br /><a href="https://www.marylynnoshea.com/mask-project" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><a href="https://www.marylynnoshea.com/mask-project" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.marylynnoshea.com/mask-project</a></a> <br /><br />Our own business has halted almost entirely for the time being. We have had to lay off our few employees and I have also found myself with no money coming in. Up to now I have been spending my own money and dedicating a huge amount of my time to this project. Unfortunately, this isn't going to be sustainable for long. <br /><br />The peak of this pandemic has been forecasted for approximately 30 days from now. I started this page to help offset my costs so that I can dedicate myself to this full time in the next month without worrying about how much money I am spending on materials, gas (the studio is 30 min away), etc. <br /><br />I know things are really difficult financially for so many of us now. Anything that you can give would be hugely appreciated. If you have a loved one in the medical field, consider making a gift in their honor. A lack of protective equipment is not something our medical professionals should have to worry about while they are on the front lines fighting a major pandemic! <br /><br />Stay safe! Wash your hands! and THANK YOU!
