<div>Nick is a loving husband to Narelle and proud dad to two beautiful kids, Montel and Allysa. He’s been battling chronic kidney disease since 2007. In 2014, he received a kidney transplant, but in 2022, things took a turn for the worse. He developed serious heart issues and needed valve replacement surgery. Since then, his kidney has failed again.

<div>Even while attending dialysis three times a week — with each session lasting over six hours — Nick kept working for as long as he possibly could. He’s always been the type to push through and never complain.

<div>Anyone who knows Nick knows how big his heart is. He would give you the shirt off his back without a second thought.

<div>But now, after multiple hospital stays and his body growing weaker, he’s had to stop working. He’s waiting on another kidney transplant, and he’s physically and emotionally drained.

<div>I’m setting up this page to ask for help — to ease some of the financial stress on Nick and his family while they go through this incredibly tough time. Anything you can give, no matter how small, would mean the world to us.

Montel is 19 years old and went to hospital early in 2019 with suspected appendicitis. It turned out it was an infection that doctors treated, but failed to diagnose. He started having symptoms again in July/August and was sent in for a Colonoscopy. The test showed that he had Crohn's Disease. Just a week after the procedure, Montel was struck down again and rushed into Emergency at Cairns Base Hospital. He was operated on again 1 week after his admission due to an infection in his bowel. A perforation was found and part of his bowel, as well as 35cm of his intestine was removed. He was kept in Intensive Care in a coma on life support for close to 48 hours and then reoperated on, to check for further infection. He is now recovering in Intensive Care and will have a stoma bag for the next 3 to 6 months. He will be unable to return to work for the forseeable future and may need to pursue legal action. Any help you can give would be so greatly appreciated.
