<div><strong>The Yawanawa</strong>, an indigenous tribe in the Brazilian Amazon committed to protecting and living in harmony with Mother Earth, are spreading their message of unity as the official host of the inaugural <strong>World Indigenous Medicine Conference</strong> in January 2025. Bringing together over 300 spiritual leaders and Western world political leaders, this first-annual conference will advance the global conversation for healing the environment and creating a sustainable global economy.

<div>Architectural plans have been finalized and construction in support of the Conference has begun, thanks to some generous NGO grants. However, this ambitious project will require the significant scaling of the Yawanawa’s Aldeia Sagrada (sacred village), including a larger new ceremonial temple, a commercial kitchen and lodging facilities to accomodate 400 guests.

<div><strong>Our Story</strong>
</div>
<div>For years, the Yawanawa have opened their original sacred village (Aldeia Sagrada) to those interested in learning their ways. As many of you know, Drew Youngspring and I have worked closely with the tribe for the past 7 years. We’ve received deep healing, and our spiritual and life paths have been profoundly guided by their traditional prayers, chants, knowledge of medicinal plants, and connection to the natural world. We’re grateful for the Yawanawa’s generosity of spirit, which has not only survived historical oppression, but is thriving and inspiring the Western world. Fighting many battles over their land, today the Yawanawa lovingly protect over 500,000 acres of Amazon rainforest. We are honored to be among those blessed to help spread their message of planetary unity to our PNW communities and around the world.

<div>After an especially potent experience at Aldeia Sagrada in <a href="https://youtu.be/QR2TfR-y8bQ?si=nsnFdFHcaQIdkEQn" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">November 2019</a> , we were inspired to <a href="https://gofund.me/7053dcde" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">raise funds</a> from our work here in the US to install a <a href="https://youtu.be/YfALbz15yvI?si=6venXen0UdRMTNE0" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">solar infrastructure</a> to provide a more sustainable source of power in the village and reduce the tribe’s reliance on generators and fossil fuels. With this renewable resource, they finally obtained reliable access to the Internet during the critical time of the pandemic to join the global conversation around collective healing and transformation. In January 2024, Chief Nixiwaka and his wife Putanny were <a href="https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2024/01/indigenous-leaders-knowledge-davos-2024/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">invited to represent</a> indigenous wisdom and traditions from the Amazon and the Yawanawa at the 2024 World Economic Forum in Davos.

<div>When Drew and I returned to Aldeia Sagrada in February 2024 to participate in traditional “dietas,” challenging fasting rituals intended to continue our growth on the traditional medicine path, we learned about Chief Nixiwaka’s vision for hosting a <strong>World Indigenous Medicine Conference</strong> and were immediately inspired to help once again.

<div>After spending extensive amounts of time and money building temporary stages each year, Kris and Erin have refrained the last two years from hosting their annual Land Gathering in order to save funds to build a permanent stage. But, with ongoing land expenses and increased cost of living, they have only been able to make ends meet. Their dream is for the stage to be finally built this year so that they can bring back their annual Concrescence Land Gathering in 2025 to celebrate their 10th anniversary of stewarding this precious land.

Help Fund the Concrescence Stage

<br />Yawanawa Solar Energy Project:<br /><br />The Yawanawa Solar Energy Project will be the first Solar Project in Indigenous Villages in the State of Acre, in the Brazilian Amazon. It will provide Solar Energy to two Yawanawa Villages; 'Aldeia Sagrada' (the 'Sacred Village') and 'Aldeia Nova Esperança' (the 'New Hope Village').  The project will be completed in two phases; the first phase is highlighted in this Gofundme campaign and will supply the 'Sacred Village' with the infrastructure to be powered by  Solar Energy. Upon completion of Phase 1 we will proceed to Phase 2 which will supply the 'New Hope Village', a much larger village,  with the infrastructure to be powered by Solar Energy.<br /><br />The Yawanawa Solar Energy Project is an urgent project in an attempt to minimize the threats of an increasingly hostile Government that has surged in Brazil in the past four years, coupled with the new challenges the Yawanawa villages are experiencing as a result of the Covid 19 Pandemic.<br /><br />The current political climate in Brazil is incentivizing deforestation for cattle ranching and the planting of toxic monocultures such as soy, and is encouraging land grabbing and turning a blind eye to the resurgence of gold mining. In addition, the current COVID Pandemic has gravely affected the indigenous populations, and taken the lives of many Indigenous elders; an entire generation of warriors and peaceful activists are dying from the lack of a functioning Health Care system in the remote parts of the Amazon, and the refusal of the already deficient Brazilian Health Care System to attend to Indigenous communities unless they reside in urban areas. Sadly, in 2020 we are witnessing a tragedy of epic proportions happening before our eyes. The Cultural genocide of the Indigenous Populations of Brazil is at at its worst in decades and the Ecological threat to the Amazon Basin in Brazil is at an all time peak. <br /><br />Deforestation is a constant threat to the indigenous populations in the Brazilian Amazon. In these times of accelerated deforestation it is very important to preserve the pristine nature of the forest. By creating a sustainable Solar Project in the Yawanawa ‘Sacred Village’, we will be minimizing pollution caused by the burning of fossil fuels as well as minimizing noise pollution that disturbs the peace of the forest and the habitats of animals and plants alike. <br /><br />&gt;&lt;&gt;&lt;&gt;&lt; About the Yawanawá People &lt;&gt;&lt;&gt;&lt;&gt;&lt;<br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/50711184_159838907998541_r.jpeg" alt="50711184_159838907998541_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br /><br />There are about 1200 Yawanawá living in the Brazilian state of Acre, in villages along the banks of the Gregório river, where they have made their homes since time immemorial. <br /><br />The Yawanawá people's first contact with the non-indigenous world happened around the fourteenth century. It was an intense period of much conflict with the rubber barons and missionaries who invaded their lands and tried to forbid Yawanawá language, culture and spirituality. In the 1980s, Chief Biraci Nixiwaka Brasil led his people in the struggle for the recognition of their native territories, and the Yawanawá became the first indigenous people to obtain the official rights to their lands in the state of Acre.<br /><br />The Yawanawá have since then reclaimed their sacred medicines, rituals, songs and dances, festivals, games, traditional body painting and adornment, artwork and food, in a profound journey of cultural revival.  <br /><br />&gt;&lt;&gt;&lt;&gt;&lt; The Sacred Village &gt;&lt;&gt;&lt;&gt;&lt; <br /><br />The Sacred Village (Aldeia Sagrada) is the sacred ancestral sanctuary of the Yawanawa from the times when the entire tribe lived together united in a single village. It is there where the burial grounds of the Yawanawa elders and Pajés (Shamans) exist until today. <br /><br />It was in the Sacred Village that the first contact with Western society was made. This contact marked the beginning of an era of repression by the missionaries and an era of enslavement for the exploitation of rubber. Decades later, when the Yawanawa regained the rights to their land, they stopped living in the Sacred Village and began to open new villages and re-writing their history. <br /><br />These days, since the beginning of the 21st century, the Yawanawa are living new times. A great revival of Yawanawa culture, customs and spirituality has been taking place. This past October of 2019, the Annual Yawa Festival, in its 18th Edition, was celebrated in the Sacred Village for the first time. A new Temple was recently built and inaugurated in the Festival. The Temple and the Sacred Village are once again serving as the center that unites all the different Yawanawa Villages who join there to hold Ceremonies and meetings, that continue their tradition and empower the continuation of their culture. <br /><br />The Sacred Village is the Spiritual center of Yawanawa culture; it is the place where all apprentices on the path of Yawanawa Spirituality undergo their Spiritual trainings and ‘dietas’ to become Pajés (Shamans). The land is blessed with fertile soil and rich biodiversity, including a large garden of medicinal plants preserving Yawanawa Ancestral Botanical plant knowledge.<br /><br />Today, the Chief of the Yawanawa Biraci Nixiwaka Brasil, his wife Putanny and their children Nawashahu, Ykashahu, Muka and Veiny have returned to live in the Sacred Village.<br /><br />Here is his message to us followed by a video message:<br /><br />“This moment that humanity is passing has also shaped and transformed the perception of the Yawanawa. There is so much Sun here in the forest, why should we be using gasoline. Gasoline is so complicated, we need to send someone to town 9 hours away by boat and another 2 hours by car just to buy the gasoline. In these times of the pandemic going to the city to purchase gasoline puts us at risk of contamination. We need to use generators that are so wasteful and often break. Instead we can set up a system of Solar energy here that will last for a good 20 years. And the best part is that the Solar system is sustainable and does not make any noise. This allows the animals to come closer to us and does not scare them away. Solar energy can be used for all our needs: pumping water to the showers and the well, refrigeration and freezers, retreats and outlets. We hope to realize this dream of sustainability before the end of 2020. O genocídio cultural das populações indígenas do Brasil está no seu pior momento em décadas e a ameaça ecológica à Bacia Amazônica no Brasil está em um pico histórico.<br /><br />O desmatamento é uma ameaça constante para as populações indígenas da Amazônia Brasileira. Nestes tempos de desmatamento acelerado, é muito importante preservar a natureza intocada da floresta. Ao criar um Projeto Solar sustentável na ‘Aldeia Sagrada’ Yawanawa, estaremos minimizando a poluição causada pela queima de combustíveis fósseis, bem como minimizando a poluição sonora que perturba a paz da floresta e os habitats de animais e plantas.<br /><br />Os Yawanawa-<br /><br />Os Yawanawá são uma população de aproximadamente 1200 pessoas, que habitam as margens do Rio Gregório, na Amazônia Acreana, desde tempos imemoriais.<br />O primeiro contato do povo Yawanawá com não-indígenas aconteceu por volta do século XIX. Foi um período intenso de muitos conflitos com os seringalistas e missionários que invadiram suas terras e tentaram proibir a cultura e a espiritualidade Yawanawá. Nos anos 80, através da luta do Cacique Biraci Nixiwaka Brasil junto ao seu povo, os Yawanawá conquistaram a demarcação de sua Terra Indígena, tornando-se o primeiro povo indígena a conseguir essa regularização no estado do Acre. <br /><br />Desde então, o povo Yawanawá vem realizando um profundo trabalho de resgate cultural, através das medicinas sagradas, dos rituais, cantos, danças, festivais, brincadeiras, pinturas corporais, artesanato e culinária.<br /><br />A ‘Aldeia Sagrada'<br /><br />A ‘Aldeia Sagrada’ é o santuário ancestral sagrado dos Yawanawa desde os tempos em que toda a tribo vivia unida numa única aldeia. É lá que os cemitérios dos anciãos Yawanawa e Pajés  existem até hoje. <br /><br />Foi na 'Aldeia Sagrada’ que o primeiro contato com a sociedade ocidental foi feito. Esse contato marcou o início de uma era de repressão pelos missionários e uma era de escravização pela exploração da borracha. Décadas mais tarde, quando os Yawanawa recuperaram os direitos de suas terras, eles pararam de viver na ‘Aldeia Sagrada’ e começaram a abrir novas aldeias e a reescrever sua história. <br /><br />Um grande renascimento da cultura, costumes e espiritualidade Yawanawa ocorreu, e hoje os Yawanawa estão vivendo um novo tempo. Em Outubro do ano 2019, o Festival Yawa, em sua 18a edição, foi celebrado na ‘Aldeia Sagrada’ pela primeira vez. Um novo centro cerimonial foi recentemente construído e inaugurado no festival. O centro cerimonial e a aldeia sagrada estão mais uma vez servindo como o centro que une todas as diferentes aldeias Yawanawa. E lá na ‘Aldeia Sagrada’ que se juntam para realizar cerimônias e reuniões que mantêm sua tradição e fortalecem a continuação de sua cultura. <br /><br />A ‘Aldeia Sagrada’ é o centro espiritual da cultura Yawanawa; é o lugar onde todos os aprendizes no caminho da Espiritualidade Yawanawa passam por seus treinamentos espirituais e "dietas" para se tornarem Pajés (xamãs). A terra é abençoada com solo fértil e uma rica biodiversidade, incluindo um grande jardim de plantas medicinais que preservam o conhecimento das plantas Medicinais e Ancestrais Yawanawa. <br /><br />Hoje, o Cacique Biraci Nixiwaka Brasil, sua esposa Putanny e seus filhos Nawashahu, Ykashahu, Muka e Veiny voltaram a morar na ‘Aldeia Sagrada’. <br /><br />Aqui gostaríamos de compartilhar a mensagem do Cacique Nixiwaka e em seguida uma mensagem de vídeo:<br /><br />“Este momento que a humanidade está passando também moldou e transformou a percepção dos Yawanawa. Há tanto sol aqui na floresta, por que deveríamos usar combustível? O combustível é tão complicado.  Precisamos mandar alguém para a cidade a 9 horas de barco e outras 2 horas de carro só para comprar o combustível. Nestes tempos de pandemia, ir à cidade comprar coloca-nos em risco de contaminação. Precisamos usar geradores que são tão perdulários e frequentemente quebram. Em vez disso, podemos estabelecer aqui um sistema de energia solar que durará uns bons 20 anos. E o melhor é que o sistema Solar é sustentável e não faz barulho. Isso permite que os animais se aproximem de nós e não ficam assustados. A energia solar pode ser utilizada para todas as nossas necessidades: bombeamento de água para chuveiros e pra tirar agua do poço artesanal, refrigeração e congelação, pra nossos retiros e as tomadas elétricas. <br /><br />Esperamos realizar este sonho de sustentabilidade antes do final de 2020. <div>I'm Micaela Kingslight, a lifelong musician living on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State. I’m here raising funds to be able to produce, record, mix, master, release and promote an album of original music that I truly feel is meant to help heal and bring people together to sing and create medicinal musical magic. These songs are inspired by nature, plant medicine, deep suffering and pain, healing and profound joy. They are prayers for the world and I hope will touch the hearts of those who need the medicine they carry.

<div>It’s a tricky time to be a full time musician and music teacher and I’ve struggled with needing to ask for help to make this dream a reality. In fact, I’ve made this fundraiser twice already and taken it down because I’m afraid to ask for so much. Yet, in order to make this happen it is important to make space and time to complete the process, not being in survival mode but feeling supported to create this work while being able to generously pay a producer, engineer, and my incredible musical friends to help bring it to the quality that is needed to be properly released.

<div>With a budget of $2,000 a song I can truly make each one shine with the polish that the music industry demands while staying true to the vision without stifling budget constraints that have made my recordings in the past miss the mark. Raising funds to record album of heartfelt songs

<div>This past weekend The Imagine Music &amp; Arts Festival united the PNW family once again for an unbelievable celebration of life &amp; learning. The Revival Teahouse stood as a beacon of unity within it. Crafted by visionary Ben Browner, it played a pivotal role in opening the hearts of many festival-goers.

<div>However, because the Teahouse was a much larger evolution from previous years, it required a lot more gear, employees, and paid musicians than expected to make it happen. Upon meticulous accounting, the vendor finds itself at a deficit of ~$2,500. (Not including all of the dedicated hours of preparation it took to produce it).

<div>Now we turn to our cherished community, seeking your generous support to offset this loss, and to ensure the continued production of the Teahouse. Help The Revival Teahouse Recuperate Costs

<div>Hello Friends! We are raising funds to help with our riverbank stabilization project on our property. The riverbank has been eroding badly over the years due to previous owners removing vital trees to create more farmland. The poor management and neglect of the riverbank has led to many acres of land being lost. Since we moved to this property in 2021, we’ve been diligently making efforts toward stabilizing the banks. Our next phase of this project is to reshape 1,500 feet of the top of the bank from a steep vertical drop-off to a gentle slope. The newly shaped bank will help control erosion by allowing high, fast-moving waters to gently spill over rather than cut into the vertical, exposed earth. The sloped bank can then be replanted with native grasses, shrubs, and trees to further stabilize the area.

<div><strong>Why is this important?</strong> The simple answer is we are restoring a barren wasteland to its natural state. A more granular explanation is that we are creating beneficial habitats for salmon and other species along the river. As our plantings grow and mature, they will reach out over the exposed areas of the river and shade them. This cools the area where salmon spawn during the summer months and increases the chances of their eggs hatching. Creating this forested buffer between the river and our pastureland makes a home for local animals and increases overall biodiversity. All of which is key to reversing man-made problems into natural solutions.
</div>

<div><strong>What we need:</strong> The funds we raise are used directly for heavy equipment rental, fuel, erosion control grass seeds, native bare-root plants, watering solutions, and other materials necessary to complete the project. This is a huge undertaking with tons of dirt to move. The material we remove from the bank cannot simply be dumped into the river as this could raise turbidity levels and adversely affect the salmon spawn. We must move the material inland from the river and spread it out over the property in low-lying areas and replant it. This requires renting an excavator, hydraulic dump trailer, and possibly a dozer to move the material. We also need to purchase hundreds of pounds of seed and many plants to stabilize the area from washing away during winter floods.

<div><strong>What we’ve done thus far:</strong> Since 2021, we have planted thousands of willow trees along the bank to help hold it. We’ve been working with local government agencies to install a living flood fence of 140 cottonwood logs designed to catch debris during floods and create log jams. This is good for breaking up the current along the banks to slow erosion and provide fish habitat. We’ve planted 5,000 native shrubs and trees on the inland portions of the property to begin creating a new forest margin. We experienced a lot of erosion this past winter of a skinny spot that separates the river from our lake. We can’t get machinery in this area because is too unstable, so we’ve had to reshape the bank by hand with pickaxes and shoves. Tons of work! We’ve also replanted this area with willow to help hold the newly formed bank.

Unfortunately, after several weeks of Dr.s visits and tests, I’ve had a confirmed diagnosis of aggressive colon cancer that has metastasized to my liver and lung. I will soon be heading down the grueling path of treatments to battle this cancer, and I intend to win this fight. However, this will be a challenging road, and I will need help.

<div>In a current social context where indigenous people face an irrepressible modernity, that endangers ancestral memory and the global environment, this documentary portrays an unprecedented meeting of 6 indigenous Colombian communities, who, despite all of the adversity, have initiated an intercultural exchange through a formal mutual agreement. They have formed the Council of Ancestral Spiritual Authorities of Colombia (CAAENOCANM). These communities are now working together to preserve and strengthen native language, cosmology and ancestral traditions, and in doing so, they offer wisdom and inspiration to the world.

<div>CAAENOCANM was formed in 2016. In 2017, the Chilean filmmaker Jordi Goya (co-founder of CTH) joined the cause as a volunteer, registering and documenting the processes and agreements made by the council of elders. Together with indigenous healer Xochi Bucuru (director of CTH), guided closely by some of the council's elders, including Arhuaco elder Mamo Lorenzo Izquierdo, Misak elder Ignacio Morales, Sikuani elder Clemente Gaitan and Pasto elder Ramiro Estacio, they came up with the idea for this documentary, a film that could share and make visible the purpose of the council, as well as facilitate interaction between the elders and their communities (amidst the very difficult financial and social conditions in which Colombia finds itself currently).

Nature is a miraculous force. She truly humbles us by her sheer power. Each element holds a unique characteristic: Air and Lightness. Fire and Transformation. Water and Movement. Earth and Density. This week I experienced the magnitude of fire’s ability to destroy and transform. With extraordinary high winds sweeping through Oregon, this fire showed its true colors of amber, ash, and char. As a glass artist, a professional flame-worker for the last ten years, there is no amount of experience that could prepare you for the velocity of a raging wildfire fueled by whipping winds and dry thirsty soil. <br />        The Almeda fire came so fast within just a matter of hours it decimated almost the entire neighboring towns of Phoenix and Talent, OR. My shop called “The Dojo” was located in North Phoenix, OR. Unfortunately, due to the spread of the fire, by the time I was preparing for evacuation at my home in Ashland, all roads were closed to the shop. I was unable to retrieve any of my valuables before it burned to the ground. I lost everything my business was built on that in which I have collected over the last ten years of my full-time flame-working career. This includes all my professional equipment, tools, materials, glass art, and a significant amount of personal belongings I had just moved out of storage. I am completely devastated and in utter shock just to imagine that three days prior, my last session in the shop, I had completed the largest piece of my glass career, ironically called the “Seven Sacred Flames Goddess”. <br />         I am calling on the support of all my followers, fans, loved ones, and greater community. I am dedicated to my passion in bringing more beauty to the world and capturing the spirit of nature within humanity through my glass art. Many know Jim Carey’s photowork reflecting much of the extended community over recent years. Friends who know of his abundant contributions encouraged him to let others know whats going on now. Which is essentially,… his trusty Toyota van, Olivia the Previa, blew a head gasket and went Kablooey! Because it’s a mid frame engine, the head gasket, or possible cracked cylinder head repair is estimated at over $3000.<br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/18459474_1488116565.9628_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br />Here's Olivia going up into the light,…<br /><br />Jim’s still undergoing antibody immunalogical treatment for his ongoing cancer troubles and loss of his speaking voice. It’s pretty much integral to what he does though to have reliable transportation. So at this point, he’s looking to replace his ride with something he can count on to carry his gear and ideally be able to camp in from time to time. Like lower mileage Honda Odyssey or Toyota Sienna minivans can be found for $3K and less. <br /><br />The good buys go quick though, and you’ve got to have cash in hand. <strong>This past April of 2016, less than 20 Standing Rock Sioux youth began taking action in North Dakota to peacefully and prayerfully protect water, to protect life, to protect the future of our grandchildren's grandchildren. </strong><br /><br />When they first put the call out for other nations to come and support their work, several months passed before anyone came to support the efforts. Today there are more than 220 Nations who have arrived at camp to stand in Solidarity with those at Standing Rock. Of the thousands there now, many of these protectors are without winter shelter and it is getting closer everyday to the bitter cold winter in North Dakota. <br /><br />Our plan is to build affordable (roughly $250 material cost each including the wood stove) winter shelters to support the Protectors and the amazing work happening out at Standing Rock. We will be doing volunteer work parties, posting how-to videos and teaching workshops on how to build these affordable winter shelters for the people living in the camps. <br /><br />Thank you so much for your interest in this project, as we step towards creating winter shelter for the water protectors at Standing Rock. <br />I am Paul Cheyok'ten Wagner, of the Saanich First Nations of Vancouver Island.  My mother gave me my name of Cheyok'ten which is "of a feeling to watch over, to care for the people and things that you love for many seasons". With the name comes the responsibility of upholding and honoring oneself and the ones who held this name for hundreds of generations.  I first became inspired to participate at Standing Rock when I witnessed the dedication of the youth. They were running accross the country to deliver a message to the White House to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline. Their mission was heart-centered and powerful- to protect the water and the stand together for the wellness of future generations. After traveling to Standing Rock and experiencing the fridid nights from inside of a thin walled tent, I felt the need for suitable winter shelter. <br /><br />I came up with a design for a contemporary teepee which utilizes easily acquired materials from a hardware store, the teepee will be wrapped in white 8 mil heavy duty poly tarp material with 2" x 4" X 16ft poles and a 2 ft. round plywood roof top. We will also be building wood stoves to heat these teepees which will be centered in the living space with the stove pipe going straight up and exiting out a metal roof jack. These warm dry shelters can sleep up to 12 people comfortably and allow plenty of day light through the translucent white tarp. <br /><br />I feel fortunate to have heard numerous elders speak in the spiritual houses of our Coast Salish peoples and the most prominent teaching I've heard these wisdom keepers say is "We are here to help one another" and "I lift you up above myself”. These sayings have taught me the importance of taking time and making the effort to help others who need your strength and energy. <br /><br />100% of the funds (energy) to make this project successful will be put to good use making sure we can take care of as many brothers, sisters, children and elders and provide them with the winter shelter they need. We still have more expenditures to calculate but it looks like each tarpee is somewhere around $1000, we have completed 60 roof tops and 40 stoves. Our funds, including donations from our Duwamish Longhouse fundraiser, bring us shy of the goal for 60 shelters. I'm confident that an additional $15,000 we will make this goal.
